Gerry - thanks for the chat today. Several years ago the Steelers drafted Timmons and Woodley in back to back rounds . They filled the void for the next 7 yrs or so . What’s your thought I trying something like that this year in rounds 1 and 2,
Gerry Dulac

With what position..??

I've read some comments on articles knocking Devin Bush; saying he wasn't much of a playmaker at Michigan, and his Combine workout doesn't translate to the football field.  Will he just end up like another Bud Dupree or Artie Burns or Ziggy Hood...good size, fast and athletic but just not a great football player?
Gerry Dulac
11:39
First of all, I'm not sure I would put Ziggy Hood in that category of fast and athletic. To be honest, I didn't see enough tape of Bush in college for me to offer a true opinion. I only saw highlights, which always look good. But he has shown enough that the Steelers, and everyone else, consider him a sure-fire top 15-20 pick.

What about Michigan defensive end Rashan Gary at 20, if he's available?
Gerry Dulac
11:39
Nope.

Do you see a trade up in the 2nd or 3rd as more likely than the 1st? Especially with the top 2 ILBs likely being out of reach.
Gerry Dulac
11:39
Yes I do. That's more realistic and probable

I love how the draft is not a science by any stretch.  Nearly every player is picked on assumed potential, and with the assumption your coaches can get the best out of them.  Who are your can't-miss picks in this year's Draft?
Gerry Dulac
11:43
L from P, I'm not dumb enough to predict can't-miss picks. But, because you asked, I'd say Devin White is one. Nick Bosa. Q Williams from Alabama, perhaps. The RB from the Tide. I wouldn't put that tag on any QB.

Have you heard any names on WRs they would like to target in the 2nd or 3rd? I am a Riley Ridley fan more than most seem to be. He plays faster than his combine time would indicate. AJ Brown is my favorite in the draft overall.
Gerry Dulac
11:46
I'm with you on both fronts. Ridley is a good second- or third-round pick. Reminds me a lot of JuJu, but not as big. Tough tho. I think AJ Brown can be more productive and explosive in the NFL than his bigger chiseled teammate

For the Steelers to have a shot at drafting Devin Bush I feel he is going to have to drop past the Bengals at #11.  If that happens do you see the Steelers moving up and how far do you feel he would have to drop for them to make a move?
Gerry Dulac
11:46
I think that will be the key -- if he makes it past the Bengals

Does Ben's new contract do anything to help with the Steelers Salary cap situation going into the draft?
Gerry Dulac
11:47
No.
Dan
11:47
I think Darnell Savage is a great option for them at 20 if they don't trade up, what's your thoughts on that?
Gerry Dulac
11:47
They REALLY like him, but maybe not at 20. Maybe at 25-30 if they trade down
Eric
11:47
Any prospects the Steelers are looking at that you see as instant impact players on defense?
Gerry Dulac
11:48
Yeah, Devin White. But that's window shopping -- admiring him from the outside looking in

What percentage odds do you think that the Steelers will trade upwards in the draft to get their LB?
Gerry Dulac
11:48
Not great

What kind of season do you expect from Edmunds (last years first round draft pick) this year?
Gerry Dulac
11:48
Even better. I think you'll see that

11:48
I say go after Devin White and do what you need to do to get there. What do you say?
Gerry Dulac
11:48
Sure

11:48
Assuming they don’t get one of the Devins... how much of an upgrade do you expect Barron to be over last year?
Gerry Dulac
11:48
He'll be a big upgrade over what they had and have
Tallahassee Jim
11:49
Gerry, to early to call Artie Burns the biggest draft bust since Huey Richardson?
Gerry Dulac
11:49
Uh, maybe not
11:50
Tomlin loves those Fla State LBs and I get it with Burns. But he won't be a starter and he doesn't help their subpackages. So, given the choices, I take Murphy

I find it disgusting how some people are bad mouthing Ben!! I have been a Steeler fan since I was a little boy in the 1950's and he is better than any QB ,including Bradshaw so why do you think they are complaining about him? When he is gone we become the Steelers of the 1950's.
Gerry Dulac
11:51
The people who are have NO CLUE whatsoever what they are talking about. I suggest you tune them out.

Gerry, assuming the Steelers draft a WR in the first 3 rounds.... how does the day 1 roster look like at that position? Juju, JW, DM, new guy, and who else, assuming they keep 5?
Gerry Dulac
11:52
Either Eli or Switzer.
Well, kids, I could go on and on with the questions, but I'm out of time. Have to go help the Steelers put together a package to move up in the first round and get one of those ILBs. Bye now.
