We'll see. But I bet they average more than the 16.5 they averaged with Pickett and Canada

Thank You for making a longtime Steeler Fan feel like a local.  You’ve always been kind in responding to my chat questions or emails!

Now, see, there's a nice fella....

10:25
Do u think the steelers will sign another wr like Renfrow or chark
Gerry Dulac
10:25
No. I think if another WR is added, it would be somebody bigger than that.

Russell Wilson has one bad year and a good year in the last two years. Thirty six years old on the downside of a career, at an age more prone to injuries like Cousins/Rogers suffered. Why did the Steelers decide to throw all their eggs in the Russell Wilson basket over Mason/Kenny? Who can say if Russell would be better?
Gerry Dulac

See what I mean....

Will Fautanu and Frazier be starters on day one of regular season? How about the 2 Wilsons?
Gerry Dulac
10:26
Frazier yes. Fautanu maybe, but soon after. Wilsons? Not right away, but they WILL play.
Special Teams Question

Gerry, you have seen a lot of Kickers in your time…How does Boz stack up against the best you’ve seen?
Gerry Dulac
10:27
He's right up there, especially his post-season record. Tough dude

When all the Steelers media attend training camp, what’s the line up look like at dinner at your table? I’d assume that’s when the best story telling happens.
Gerry Dulac
10:27
Actually I never eat dinner at training camp. Usually doing radio at that point.

Gerry, as a long time football fan there’s a lot of the complexities I don’t understand or ignore. Question is, why is it so tough for offensive linemen to move from right left or left right. Some seem to have no problems while others can’t. Your expertise please and can you fix my hooking the driver?
Gerry Dulac
10:28
I'm not the expert to ask, but, look, I'm with ya -- I just don't think it that's hard. All if takes is a little foot-movement practice.

Hey Gerry - I really appreciate the discipline/focus of Khan. By contrast, look at Atlanta. I don’t fault them at all for taking Penix, I do fault them though for panicking and signing Cousins to a ludicrous contract. He’ll play there on that for 1-2 years. Same with Cleveland with Watson. Under Khan, Steelers are methodically building a team across a matrix of positional need now and salary cap implications later. I can only assume that is where the non-restructure of Heyward is coming from as far as when they will need the salary cap relief.
Gerry Dulac

Regardless, stupid moves by Atlanta. I get it when Green Bay does it with Jordan Love. He was a late-round pick by a winning playoff team. Atlanta is not that. They are a losing team with a high pick that needs players and they waste it on a backup QB. Dumb, stupid.

Good morning, have you aligned things with the Steelers so that they acquire a significant playmaker during this chat?  Thank you
Gerry Dulac
10:31
Hold on, let me check with them now....

Any updates on Najee extension?
Gerry Dulac
10:31
Not until tomorrow, but I think I've said all along they will pick up his option. Won't cost them a lot.

Any word on possible veteran additions and/or trades now that the draft is over? Lers still have a good amount of cap space
Gerry Dulac
10:32
Not yet, and I wouldn't expect a whole lot more, if any

The Steelers did a very good job addressing crucial starting needs and there is not much that can still be done this pre season. So how would you assess their depth overall and are we in trouble if any key position goes down like it happened last year?
Gerry Dulac
10:33
I think they have done another good job of addressing needs and making changes and not standing pat with what they had, even after being 10-7. Kudos to them.

Hey Gerry.  So far I love the two drafts from the law firm of Kahn, Weidl, and Tomlin.  The team of Colbert and Cowher hardly missed in the draft and built a two time Super Bowl team.  Why did the Colbert and Tomlin combination fail so miserably for 15 years?  There were so many misses.  Did they have different philosophies?  Different priorities?  Or did Tomlin just lose power to the two new guys?  It can't just be a fluke when that partnership failed on such a regular basis.
Gerry Dulac
10:33
15 years?? I think you might be overstating the case.

Is Cam Sutton a real possibility?
Gerry Dulac
10:34
I don't think he's a fabrication. But we'll see

Gerry, random question, will Russell and Roman Wilson both have their entire first names on their jerseys? I know the Heywards and Herbigs didn't but they're on opposite sides of the ball and wouldn't be on the field together.
Gerry Dulac
10:34
I don't think the league allows two names on the jersey

Does waiting until their last pick to take a CB tell us anything about what they think of Trice and Rush?
Gerry Dulac
10:35
I think it might say something about Cam Sutton

Hi Gerry! Watching Fautanu and Frazier (as well as payton wilson) I see great hand usage, great vision, great angles and a clear tendency of their respective opponent to hit the turf soon and hard. Is that just what makes good football players or a sign of a very clear (and good) profile the steelers defined and persued this draft?
Gerry Dulac
10:35
Marc, I think that makes you a better talent evaluator, certainly a more detailed one, than me.

I love the attempt to solidify the offensive line.  The game is controlled in the trenches.  This line has the potential to be dominant for the better part of a decade.  My question is what quarterback type would most succeed behind a line like this?  I would think a pocket passer that is given time to make his reads.  Fields doesn't fit that as a future QB for this team.  He is run first, can't read a defense, and bails out of the pocket quick.  Is that the right match for us?

The one who completes the most passes, throws the most touchdowns and has the fewest interceptions.

People have frequently brought up the lack of CBs being drafted as a huge problem. I honestly don't understand why people are dismissing Donte Jackson the way that they are. Last year he had a higher PFF grade than any other CB on the Steelers roster besides JPJ, and he did it while on the *Carolina Panthers*. He's also had years in the past of very good production, he's only 28, and isn't a headcase. What am I missing?
Gerry Dulac
10:36
Agreed. I think people are forgetting that. That's why they traded for him

Good Morning, A good draft but still no DT.  Jacksonville beat us to the punch by selecting Maason Smith. Were Smith still there, would you prefer Smith over Frazier at that point?
