Isn't the drafting of Pickett a sign that "we don't think Trubisky is good enough, we better find someone who might be POTENTIALLY better?"
Gerry Dulac
11:56
Not necessarily. But it does say they believe Pickett is their QB for the future. You don't take QBs on the first round to be a backup, unless your starter is Aaron Rodgers.

Hi Gerry, Did the Steelers make an attempt to get Jordan Davis ? or was the price too high ?
Gerry Dulac
11:57
I was told they did not. And that's too bad. They tried to move up for one guy -- and I don't get that either.

Gerry - what is your thinking on what the Steelers do with Diontae?  I still can't see them signing/extending him, and clearly the draft speaks to some contingency planning.  Will he eventually be simply a FA casualty... is trading even a possibility?
Gerry Dulac

More than likely. I'm sure he will test the free agent market to see if can get something close to what some of these other receivers are getting. I would say he won't, but I never underestimate the desperation and/or stupidity of some NFL GMs

Hit send by mistake, did the Steelers interview you for the GM position yet, I am right with thinking they need to get younger on the DL. Not just younger, but better, much better. Note, anyone who disagree just needs those stats you pointed out about the games with teams rushing for 200 + yards...i.e.

Hi Gerry - any players still available in FA or positions you'd like to see us make a move before camp?

Do you think Trubisky feels blindsided by their first round pick, or was the understanding all along that they would take a QB if one they liked was available?
Gerry Dulac

He would never say it, but I'm sure he did to a degree. He made a quick move to sign with the Steelers, likely with the understanding he would compete with Rudolph and even Dwayne Haskins to be the starter. I wouldn't be shocked if they didn't tell him at the time of their plans to take a QB. After all, it wouldn't be the first time they misrepresented a role to a free agent. Just ask Melvin Ingram.

Is it a bad sign that Tuitt hasn’t shown up yet for voluntary workouts?  If he was really excited to get back, you’d think he’d be there, right?
Gerry Dulac

He still has plenty of time to do that, like when OTAs start. Now, if he isn't there for those, which are also voluntary, that would be different. But the Steelers are still a little leery of Tuitt's commitment to return and are waiting to see where that leads. His issues have nothing to do with his knee. He had non-major surgery at the end of training camp and was healthy to return before the middle of the season.

Well, kids, that's all the time we have. Like the Penguins, we went triple OT. Thanx for the questions.
