In this case, yeah

I saw your article that said that the Steelers are in the process of trading Pickens to Dallas and that it looks like it would be for a 3rd round and a swap of late picks.  I am not a Pickens fan, as I think that he cannot get out of his own way, but did he force the Steelers hand here?  Also, we are basically back to square one in the WR room to where we were last year.  Do you know if there is a plan beyond hoping Wilson is ready this year?
Gerry Dulac

No he didn't. The only thing that was forced was him and his truculent behavior out the door.

Now that Pickens has been traded, do you see the Steelers signing potential free agents Keenan Allen or Amari Cooper to be WR2?

Perhaps

Read the tea leaves for me: Does the Pickens trade mean Rodgers is coming for sure, and bringing a WR with him? Or does it mean he's not coming?

Use the tea leaves for tea, not hypotheticals

Hi Gerry, Trading Pickens to the Cowboys means Tomlin could not reign in his disruptive behavior. Tomlin is known for having thousands of free dinners with draft prospects. In his dinner with Pickens did he learn nothing? Are all the dinners more or less useless? Just watch the tape and make a decision?

The mistake is not falling to reign it in; the mistake is thinking you can

Does trading away Pickens have any impact on Rodgers decision to sign with the Steelers?
Gerry Dulac

Nope

Pickens trade to Cowboys is a head scratcher. Steelers are getting a 3rd rd draft pick next year and a 5th rounder in 2027. If they didn’t make this trade and Pickens left as a free agent wouldn’t Steelers get a 3rd round compensatory pick next year? If so why make this trade?
Gerry Dulac
11:49
Not if you know how his teammates and coaches felt about him and his aversion to showing up on time

Gerry, do you know if the Steelers have reached out to Teddy Bridgewater?  He'd probably come at a reasonable cost and would be a significant upgrade over what they have now.

I do not

Good morning Gerry. With Pickins gone, do the Steelers have enough decent receivers? I guess the hope is Roman Wilson can be what they envisioned him to be, but he has done nothing yet
Gerry Dulac
11:50
That's right

OK kids, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think every question (other than two golf ones) was about Pickens. That's easily a new chat record, one that will never be broken. But here is a way to stop the onslaught...we're outta time.
