We'll see. But I wouldn't expect too much

It seems to me that Khan and team are being aggressive in implementing a real action plan that looks towards the future. When in the past, under the leadership of whom, do you recall the organization executing an equally aggressive, or more so, forward looking plan?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
Usually not like this. One thing about Khan, he wants draft picks, not players in return

Gerry, thank you for the chat. 3rd rounder for Pickens and a move from 6 to 5. He must’ve been a huge thorn in the side of management and the coaching staff, especially with his talent and the lack of playmakers in the WR room. I know Kahn and his staff had to do their due diligence in scouting and interviewing this guy at UGa.  Just hard to believe what an entitled pain in the keister he became. Addition by subtraction?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
Huge thorn might be understatement. And Khan wasn't the GM then

Gerry, if Khan and Tomlin knew they would be trading Pickens, why didn't they draft a WR in the 4th, 5th or 6th round? Seems kind of important, don't they remember last year when they only had one good WR?
Gerry Dulac
11:33
Maybe they didn't know they would be trading him so soon until the Cowboys came calling with a good offer a couple days ago

Hey Gerry, I read that you thought Rogers would be signed by June 1… and like you say with Rogers, who knows?… I feel like he will wait till after mini camps because he didn’t do any of that stuff when he was with the Jets…. do you think there’s a better chance that he would sign after that?….
Gerry Dulac
11:34
You're right about one thing -- who knows what Rodgers will do. All I can tell you is the Steelers believe he will be their QB, whenever that is.

Greetings from Scotland    Why trade Pickens for a third when the comp pick if they  kept him and then let him walk after 2025 season would problem be a third.
Gerry Dulac
11:35
What does that tell you about what the players and coaches think about having him around???

Hi Gerry I do not like the GP trade. We should have received a #2 pick in 2026 and we just became a weaker team in 2025 without him. WHO is our #2 now?
Gerry Dulac
11:36
A 2, huh? Based exactly on what? 12 TDs in three years? No Pro Bowls. Plenty of boorish behavior on the field and repeated team violations off the field?

So was the plan always to trade Pickens for 2026 draft picks?  Did the Steelers front office feel that getting picks this year's draft would not be as fruitful in terms of "the plan"?
Gerry Dulac
11:36
They didn't have any kind of potential deal in place during this year's draft.

Thanks for the chats, Gerry. I truly enjoy the break fro the world.I know the reason why they traded George, and I'm in full support of trading an immature, selfish, and narcissistic play maker for the benefit of more draft capital next year. However, we're kinda back to square one of last year, and nothing says "build for the future" like this trade. How do you feel about it, and do you believe that we're going to go the "Auyuk" way again, or are they just gonna ride with what they have until 2026?
Gerry Dulac
11:37
They made their splash when they traded for Metcalf. I guess that wasn't enough for most people

11:37
With the trade of Pickens, which I’m completely in favor of, do you expect the Steelers to add a No. 2 receiver either by trade or a free agent signing? Thank you
Gerry Dulac
11:37
No more trades I don't think

11:38
With Pickens gone (and his attitude) for a 2026 3rd and pick swap in 2027 it seems like the Steelers are unofficially rebuilding. They are gathering picks to get their QB next year. Hopefully Rodgers retires. They have worked on O-line and D-line in the last two drafts. I think a great way to reboot franchise. What do you think?
Gerry Dulac
11:39
They might use the word 'reboot.' They never use the word 'rebuild.'
Pat from Ellwood city11:39Hi Gerry! I understand trading Pickens in the draft in getting a draft pick but to do it after the draft who's the number 2 just doesn't make sense. For a 3rd round pick next year to try to move up in the draft to get a quarterback that no one knows if they'll be any good
11:40
I understand your thinking and I'm not going to say you're wrong
RAM11:40Good riddance George! Even though I would have loved to have seen him and DK together I believe it was a good move for the Steelers. He was immature and undisciplined and I don’t think any team can change that. So Gerry, do you think they may have something in the works for trading for another receiver or do we just keep piling up draft picks for next year?
11:42
Sorry I have a sticky key that is causing this issue...Hey RAM, anything is possible, even another WR trade, I just don't expect that to happen. Probably sign one who is or becomes available.
Greenwood
11:42
Since they waited until after the draft to trade Pickens, do you think it was just a lack of interest from other teams, or maybe he has reacted poorly to Metcalf coming in?
Gerry Dulac
11:42
It was because the Cowboys came calling with a deal
Sammy
11:42
Since AR delayed decision, to sign with        Pittsburgh; do you think his acceptance in the locker room maybe a little less welcoming with team mates?
Gerry Dulac
11:43
No. If a player can help a team win games, the other players are welcoming
epiballo
11:43
What is your assessment of the return for Pickens? And doesn't this clearly show the plan: to stockpile draft capital to move up for a QB in next year's draft in Pittsburgh? Nothing dull about this offseason!
Gerry Dulac
11:43
It's exactly what I expect. Tell me, what has he done to merit a No. 2????
RV
11:43
Hmmm, maybe there will be a few questions about this today…. No quarrel with the Pickens, but why wouldn’t they have done everything possible to complete this in time for 2025 draft??  A couple of the WRs they brought in for visits were available when Dallas picked in the third round.  Do they have another move coming?  If not, it seems like we are back where we started with just one real WR threat.  Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:44
Because there wasn't any trade to make during the draft, that's why. Came about just a couple days ago

Assuming from your tweet today that the Pickens deal was already assumed by both Pittsburgh and Rodgers and that’s why it has no impact on a potential deal. That said who cares about Rodgers at this point either way, who is a potential WR target?
Gerry Dulac
11:45
I severely doubt the Steelers consulted a player who isn't even on their team about their trade plans. They never discuss those things with their own players

Can we let the off season unfold before the fans start decrying that all is lost?
Gerry Dulac
11:45
Pay the man!!
epiballo
11:45
Talk about fickle! What percentage of the fans decrying the trade of Pickens were the same ones yelling for the Steelers to trade him? At least they consistently bemoan the retention of Tomlin.

OK, get some money for this fella too!!

The trade of Pickens tells me that they are not serious about competing this year and looking forward to the draft next year to try to get a real quarterback. Do you think the Steelers are a better team today than they were yesterday? Sometimes they say addition by subtraction. Do you agree?
