Hi Gerry! This might seem overly simplistic, but in last year's nine game win total, Ben was the difference in at least 5 of them. He made the key throws in key moments. So to predict the 2022 record I'm just subtracting four games from last year. I see this team as a 5-12 in 2022. Too simple? Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac

Ben was the difference in SEVEN of them. He led them on game-winning or comeback drives in the fourth quarter (and OT) in seven of their nine wins.

Top O' The Morning To Ya!
IF Trubisky has a great season and keeps Pickett on the bench will the Steelers bring him back and extend him or trade him to promote the 1st rd pick?
Gerry Dulac
11:43
They won't extend him, but they will bring him back, especially if he has what you call a "great season."

What position group is the weakest link?
Gerry Dulac
11:43
CB? OLB?
Big Sid
11:43
OLB depth fees like an area with a lack of depth - are we apparently comfortable with the current roster?
Gerry Dulac
11:44
O-line depth is an issue with just about every team in the NFL. Heck, most have a hard time finding a starting unit, let alone quality backups.

I hope the Steelers go outside the building for a new GM since 20 years of the same ol'...
Does it seem like promoting either of the internal candidates would limit the team culture to adapt to the rapidly changing NFL?
Not that all new ideas are good ideas, but I think this team is stuck at least a decade in the past, which allows a lot of opportunities (trade back in 1st rd) to pass them by...
Gerry Dulac
11:46
That "same ol" has been pretty good for 22 years. Maybe you missed the additional two Super Bowl trophies and 10 division titles in Kevin Colbert's tenure.

Regardless of how successful Trubisky is, I am glad the rookie will not have to step in immediately behind an OL that will likely take at least half the season to gel and a massive WR churn.
Can you think of a worse way for a rookie QB to have to start their career, other than to be drafted by the Jags...?
Gerry Dulac
11:47
Yeah. Start with the Jets

You hinted in an earlier chat that behind closed doors, the players do not feel that Canada has a playbook that is effective for the NFL. Is that a widespread belief in the locker room? Does having a better line and more mobile QBs give them any more confidence going into this season?
Gerry Dulac
11:47
It might. But that's what we're going to find out.

Gerry any indication that Claypool was humbled by his poor showing last year and may start to live up to his physical capabilities, or can we expect more of the same
Gerry Dulac
11:49
Won't know that until training camp, preseason and regular season. But he certainly do anything to merit any kind of social-media presence.

The Steelers went 9-7-1 last year.  I think they have improved their ILB, DL, OL, and WR rooms.  Are they worse at any position?  I just don’t get the global negativity around this team from betting odds to the media.
Gerry Dulac
11:49
I'd hold off on that improved DL stuff.

There seem to be quite a few fans that think the Steelers should resign Haden.  Seems to me that ship has sailed.  What do you think?
Gerry Dulac
11:50
Don't think that the ship has sailed.

Do you think the Steelers will keep Rudolph as the 3rd QB?
Gerry Dulac
11:50
3? If he's 3, he will be traded.

I've read some comments regarding concern with Calvin Austin's size. Can you compare his size and potential to any current wide receivers in the leage?
Gerry Dulac
11:50
None that I know of. He better be fast, which he is.

Gerry: can the Steelers compete in the AFC with a secondary that has Witherspoon, Wallace, Sutton, and Edmunds as 4 of the top 5 players?
Gerry Dulac
11:51
Good question. Don't know the answer...yet. Gonna be tough, though.

Word came in some news stories that Ben Roethlisberger contacted Kenny Pickett recently and offered some sort of mentorship.  Would the Steelers consider bringing BR back as a QB coach?
Gerry Dulac
11:52
No.
Time for a few more...one word answers only

11:52
Do you think the Steelers add to the OLB group before the season?
Gerry Dulac
11:52
Yes
CoalportKid
11:53
Why so many ILBs, are they planning to keep 5 (Bush, Jack, Spillane 2 of UG3, Allen, Robinson)? (counting Avery as OLB).
Gerry Dulac
11:53
Probably
Joe
11:53
If Justin Layne had not been a 3rd round pick would he still be on the team? He seems like another in a long line of failed DB draft picks by Tomlin/Colbert.
Gerry Dulac
11:53
Doubtful
Ed in Carrick
11:54
You just mentioned Johnson is a number 2 receiver. If that is true, then do the Steelers have a number 1?  I assume you are going to say Pickens.
Gerry Dulac
11:54
No
Javi
11:54
Hey Gerry. If no playoffs this year what would be your thoughts on Tomlin? Will he ever be on hot seat?
Gerry Dulac
11:54
Nope
Andrew
11:54
Are we going to sign a veteran rb? I can’t imagine going into the season with Snell/McFarland as the top 2 backups
