Ha, that is always a possibility -- a strong possibility. It will all depend on how well Howard plays in the preseason. If he lights it up, who knows...

Gerry do you think that Jack Sawyer can take the next step, and if so what does that mean to the Steelers thoughts at OL?
Gerry Dulac
10:54
I assume you meant OLB, and not OL. He can, but I don't think it changes anything. He got a decent amount of playing time as a rookie, so it should increase. But, don't forget, it's a new defensive coordinator and position coaches

Rodgers getting torched for his quick release last year but why hold it when you already know that the receivers aren’t going to get open?
Gerry Dulac
10:55
I think the mentality will change this year. Keep in mind, that offense only ran the way Mike Tomlin wanted it to run. I think it will be different under MM

gerry will this be the year that TJ finally moves around in the defense… Are we going to see more of the same…seems he needs a fresh approach

That's what Patrick Graham will decide. Curious to see what he does with him

Gerry, If McCarthy is successful by winning a playoff game or two, would he have done it with Tomlin's team?
Gerry Dulac
10:56
He would be doing it with mostly Tomlin's players, if that what you cryptically mean?

Gerry every player on every team thinks he’s got a Super Bowl chance and if not why play the game? No question and I love your chats

That's the beauty and allure of training camp -- the hopes of summer.

To Bill in LA, didn't ARII "find" Picket in the South Side?
Gerry Dulac
10:57
Uh oh, don't poke the bear about Pickett

Hi Gerry - I recall James Franklin wrote a book about developing the qb.  How the heck did Allar spend four years with this guy and need to relearn what sounds like the basics?
Gerry Dulac
10:58
I don't think it's that as much as it is what college quarterbacks have to learn about playing under center and not in the shotgun all the time.

Germie Bernard wasn't drafted to a starter? Who's WR3, then?

Have you ever golfed in Myrtle Beach? They have some great courses.

Many many times. And yes they do

In the whole NFL how many QBs would you consider to be franchise QBs
Gerry Dulac
11:00
Mahomes, Burrow, Stafford, Josh Allen, Lamar, Caleb Williams. Rodgers was.

With the NFL now controlling which games are outside the US, not allowing teams to protect a home game, if you had to determine the power in the NFL, between the owners, players, the NFL, fans, networks, how would you slice up the pie?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
Teams can still protect home games. And the power? It's Goodell.

Out of consensus call: Aaron Rodgers stats for this upcoming season 3700 yards, 33 TDs, 8 INTs.  He is still a very good quarterback, and for the first time in 4 seasons he will have a great system, great coordinator, good line, and good receiving weapons.  Big contrast to last year - i think around here we have normalized the lack of a WR2, but that was pretty rough roster last year!
Gerry Dulac
11:01
That is some ambitious projection.

Hi Gerry! Thanks for the chats! I know we are passed the draft but I was curious where the Steelers had Omar Cooper on their board. I thought he might be the pick once Lemon went off.
Gerry Dulac
11:02
I did too, but I believe they had a higher grade on Iheanachor. And they were worried when they saw so many OL go off the board.

While we're all anxiously looking forward to the hope we'll see a much improved offense, I believe we'll see a bump in defensive performance as well given Tomlin's schemes have gotten stale.

That's what everybody is curious to see -- on both sides of the ball
OK kids, that's all for today. See you next week
