Your take on Marino's comment about BB approaching Shula's all time winning records...
Gerry Dulac
11:22
I didn't hear what he had to say.

In your time covering the Steelers, who do you think (excluding yourself) does/did the best job covering the Steelers?  Also, God bless Tunch.  Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
11:23
My former colleague Ed Bouchette

Personal question, with everything that has gone on with the PG, why do you stay?
Gerry Dulac
11:23
Like you said -- personal

Any early salary cap casualties that you see on the horizon?
Gerry Dulac
11:24
Right now, none. I think they did all that in the past couple months.

Advantages of play action vs hand off in pistol set?
Gerry Dulac
11:25
Depends who the running back is

11:26
What do you think of Cowher comments on spygate and not making it a part of his book?
Gerry Dulac
11:27
I guess he didn't want to soil a book about him with stuff about the Patriots. He knew at the time that stuff had no bearing on what happened against NE and I guess he still thinks the same way.
GM Dulac

For fun, say you're the GM and you had unlimited cap space and trade resources. Name any one player that you would trade for to add to the Steelers' roster.
Gerry Dulac
11:28
Rod Tidwell

NFL ranking by average age of players that make the team over the last few years shows the Steelers consistently middle of the pack. Is that due to signing more of our own players or the number of draft picks over the same time span?
Gerry Dulac
11:28
Both. Are you complaining or applauding?

I am biased on this, but what is it about Mason Rudolph, that fans don't like?  I followed his play somewhat when he was at Okie State and was glad the Steelers took him.  His record as a starter is pretty good/very good for a QB that didn't get involved in the offense until his 2nd year.  Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
I'm not sure, because he has shown he can win 10 games a season as the Steelers starter. I have no problems with him as the backup or eventually being the full-time starter. Will he be Ben? I doubt it. But I've said this many times before -- I think he's Neil O'Donnell, a guy you can win with but maybe always looking for someone better. And the Steelers went to a Super Bowl with O'Donnell.

I thought it was curious, my first assumption is that we must be doing a pretty good job at identifying players to draft...
Gerry Dulac
11:32
Well, they do do a good job with that. And they believe in sticking with their draft picks to give them a chance to develop, unless they see it's pointless.

It looks like the Steelers will be getting a top 10 pick next year and last in the AFC North. Gerry do you think any of these so called experts would bet any money on their idiotic observations ?
Gerry Dulac
11:34
Of course not. Just like none of them could have or would have predicted they would start 11-0 last season.
AJ
11:34
I always thought Bubby was better than Neil and if we had kept him as our starter we would have made more than just that one superbowl in the 90's.  You heard of anyone else sharing my opinion?
Gerry Dulac
11:34
Bubby.

Would you agree that Cowher and Tomlin are good coaches but not great as part of the explanation behind the lack of playoff success (in Tomlin's case) and AFC championship games (in Cowher's)?
Gerry Dulac
11:36
They are more than good coaches, they are very good coaches. One is in the Hall of Fame and the other has a more than decent chance of getting there, too. Am I going to put them in a class with Chuck Noll and Don Shula and Vince Lombardi? No. But I'd call them more than good.

At some point, Mike Tomlin won't be head coach any longer, either by firing or retirement. Whenever he does leave as HC, who would you like to see take over as the next Steelers' HC?
Gerry Dulac
11:37
I couldn't even begin to think that far ahead
kevin in Punxsy
11:37
Gerry, I remembered why fans don't like Mason.  Duck was "the next best thing" in 2019 and Haskins is "the next best thign" in 2021.
Gerry Dulac
11:37
Yeah, and anyone who knows anything knows the limitations of both those players.

If you wish, here are my reasons why I was/am down on Mason Rudolph:

BB seems to have all the metrics to be a first ballot HOF, is his "value" diminished because he played in an era of high end QB play and offenses?
Gerry Dulac
11:40
Sorry....BB???

Poor Lefty.  Won the PGA one week and missed the cut on the Champions Tour the next.
Gerry Dulac
11:41
No, he missed the cut at a PGA Tour event, bot Champions Tour. But, believe me, he is not feeling bad and nobody is feeling sorry for him after what he did.

Big Ben
Gerry Dulac
11:42
Ahhhh....no, he will be a first ballot HOFer.

1- inaccurate to hit the prime target (the difference between a 3 yard gain and a 10 yard gain 2- no to limited pocket awareness 3- until the browns game, no confidence he could win a game instead of just not lose it.  Im not sure how much he can grow in those areas
Gerry Dulac
11:43
Give him a break -- all those observations where from his second season in the NFL. And I think you answered your own observation about growth when you said "until the Browns game," which means he did show growth.
