Hi Gerry - I realize Steeler OTAs are limited in what might translate to the regular season, but is anyone standing out to you as you watch them?

You’re put in charge of TJ Watt’s contract, what’s your best offer for him and how worried are you that he’s a detriment by the end of it?
Gerry Dulac
10:04
I'd give him a 3-year deal for about $35 million annually. The question, though, for the Steelers -- how much are they willing to guarantee. Last time it was $80 mill

Hi Gerry:  Thanks for the chats.  Any early observations on the injured punter Johnston?  Is he booming the kicks like before his injury?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
I'll be honest, I haven't watched him. But they believe he will be fine

10:05
Do you get the sense Kaleb Johnson will get a lot of work, or will they ease him along as they usually do with rookies?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
Lot of work. They didn't bring him to lead the band at halftime, to borrow an old (and favorite phrase)

You line up all the QBs in the NFL, where would Mason Rudolph rank? Top 20? 25? 30? And do you have a guesstimate for fan favorite Will Howard?
Gerry Dulac
10:06
I'm sure the rest of the league would rank him 25-30. Way too premature for Howard

Do you think the Steelers sign Elliott to an extension?
Gerry Dulac
10:06
They should

Good morning Gerry and thank you for the chat and great work. Does the current post franchise QB search seem to be history repeating itself to you?  After Bradshaw they went through Stoudt, Malone, Woodley, Blackledge, and Brister before getting O'Donnell (I think from the Jets).  O'Donnell wasn't a franchise QB in my opinion but was good enough when paired with a great defense. Not sure what went wrong in TEN for Rudolph but thought he showed improvement and ability in his last year here. In your opinion, is he capable of being O'Donnell caliber? Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
10:07
I always thought Mason and O'Donnell were very comparable -- you could win with them, tho maybe not a Super Bowl. And the Steelers drafted O'Donnell and then he signed with the Jets FYI

Hi Gerry. I read Darnell Washington has slimmed down and looks more athletic. I heard on the Pat Kirwin/Jim Miller show (the only 2 national guys who make any sense) they believe Darnell if on another team would be a viable pass catching option. Are the Steelers planning to use him more in the passing game?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
I always thought they should. And those two are two of my favorites

Big year for Broderick Jones. Slimming down this offseason shows commitment. Do you get the sense the team is still confident in his ability and potential? Will being at LT full time help him?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
They are still confident, I'll say that

will there be a camp battle for WR2, and Austin have the pole position there? I'd personally like to see Roman Wilson win that spot. He was a dog at UM.
Gerry Dulac
10:08
I don't think Calvin Austin has the pole position. Lot of hope for Roman Wilson. And, who knows, maybe someone else

Hi Gerry.   Metcalf getting paid Big big money.  The WR room needs a leader.  Why on earth is the dude Not at OTA's. optional or not?   Josh Allen is.  Higgins is. Many are.   Why not him?  thx
Gerry Dulac
10:09
It is optional, but I'm with you.

Dan10:09Hi Gerry - when you and the others covering the Steelers review “film” - do you have access to what the coaching staff is reviewing or are you working from the network feeds?  Thx -
Did you say review film?

The people want to know, how does future franchise QB Will Howard look so far? I’ve seen stats on the internet saying he’s had the best OTAs of all time
Gerry Dulac
10:10
Nobody other than the fans ever said he is the future franchise

The optimist in me believes that the offensive line will improve this year now that the tackles are in their correct position. Add to that the defensive line additions are exciting, the challenge is how quickly can next years QB get to level to take this team deep into the playoffs before some of the stars age.
Gerry Dulac
10:13
The offensive line has two No. 1 and a No. 2. They should be fine. Give 'em time. But that's why they had to start rebuilding the defensive line -- now!

Good Morning Mr Dulac.  I hope your day is great. And while I hope you chat is not filled with too many questions regarding a certain number of Steelers who attended an event celebrating the investment of "steel making" back into our region, I would like to point out how great it is to live in a country that allows for everyone to have the freedom to speak their minds, but also remember it is everyone's right to other peacefully assemble and support an important cause, meet a sitting President, and support whatever political candidate they want. We have the right to participate in your wonderful chats and you are free to express your thoughts without undue pressure or influence.  And while our Country may have its problems, I am happy to be living in it, and look forward to freedoms we are granted each day. We have the freedom to cheer these same people who attended this event, we have the freedom to be upset that they did.  Those freedoms granted to us where celebrated a two weekends ago!!

We are all free to make our own choices, and we live with those choices, whether they regard politics, work, friends, whatever.

Do you think Carson Wentz is a better QB than Mason Rudolpf?
Gerry Dulac

No

Gerry, knowing the players and the course, who in your opinion has the best chance at Oakmont?
Gerry Dulac

Hey, RAM, your handle is three-quarters of the way to the answer

Mr Dulac.  Wouldn't next week be a great time for AR to sign with the Steelers?  He could attend mini-camp then make his way to Oakmont, watch some great golf, and find many Steeler fans.  The question is how many of the Steelers fans he might meet, who have a membership at Oakmont would invite him to play a round?
Gerry Dulac
10:16
Who knows? It could be sooner

Feels like a large portion of the fan base thinks the answer to playoff bubble/one and done seasons is to jettison one of the best coaches in league history and the best OLB in the game today. Is this fan base becoming more like Browns fans? Not sure why anyone would want to get rid of Tomlin despite all of his flaws. Hard to believe a fan that knows anything about the game would think moving on from TJ for draft picks is a good idea. The guy has carried this team through it's recent drought and isn't as injury prone as everyone seems to think.
Gerry Dulac
10:16
I think they're spending too much time at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame or something

In your opinion, are they still trying to recover from the last few years of the Colbert era? He was a great GM and his body of work proves it but he was subpar the last 5 years or so. Omar's 1st two drafts look promising and, on paper, this year's class looks like it will also have more hits than misses. Do you think they're one more quality draft away from recovering from the mistakes at the end of the Colbert era even if they don't find a franchise QB next year - as long as they find a quality QB either through what's already on the roster or FA?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
Well, they are trying to recover from the selection of Kenny Pickett at No. 1, that's for sure
