Gerry, do you think Benton will be a Steeler in 2027?
Gerry Dulac
10:18
I do because they want to keep him.

Hello Gerry.  Despite the consternation of some over the HCMM hire, isn’t it possible the Steelers have the best HC in the AFC North? Ravens and Browns have first time, unproven coaches. Bengals coach has a career losing record.  You can argue over strength of roster in the division, but who has the more experienced and most successful head coach?
Gerry Dulac
10:19
How many head coaches who have 100+ career NFL wins get hired? Not many. And, to your question, yes

Gerry, who is your US Open winner next week?

Good morning Gerry, with all the talk of more detailing on offense and improved communication on defense one has to wonder what the situation was like under Tomlin in recent years. If the new coaches are in fact doing a much better job with the 'details' in your opinion what are the chances of a true resurgence this year with this roster?
Gerry Dulac
10:20
It's all talk right now. Let's wait until it starts to matter.

I'll admit that my knowledge of our current projected Safeties corps is not good.  How do you think that part of our secondary looks?  Will it be a strength, just get by, etc.?
Gerry Dulac
10:21
I think it's solid, especially getting DeShon Elliott back and adding Jaquan Brisker

G from Jersey!Jerry enjoy your coffe and great chat. Is the insanity of constantly avoiding change an Art thing (at the QB(Aaron lately, HC(Tomlin), OC(Canada) etc, despite any real playoff success.  Or is that just now the mentality across the board?  NOT including the fan base!  Thnx

I thought you were going to say it was an Art form

Hi Gerry. I read in a recent PG article that TJ Watt admitted to resisting previous attempts to move him around. Was this ever the case, and if Yes why the change of heart?
Gerry Dulac
10:23
We'll see if there is a change of heart.

Hey Gerry thanks for the chats.  Do you know if Graham plans on blitzing more or having more rush plans from your conversations.  Moving edge rushers around is fine but how about more stunts and twists (bring back the old X-Fire blitz!) things of that nature.  Seemed like Tomlin like to rush his 4 and leave it up to them while dropping 7 in coverage pretty consistently (that was fine with prime TJ and Cam).
Gerry Dulac
10:26
That's what we're going to find out. I think the emphasis will still be on the edge rushers pressuring and getting to the QB. That's the nature of the 3-4 defense and that's the strength of this defense. I'm going to guess Graham might bring more exotic pressures, but that's not saying a lot because of how the Steelers played under Tomlin.

Hi Gerry! Thanks for the chats! Enjoyed your article on Porter on his extension situation. What do you think the Steelers are doing here? Could Porter get tagged and tossed?
Gerry Dulac
10:26
No, I don't think so. But you never know. It will take two to tango, as I said.

See our Yinzer Neal Shipley qualified for the Open next week. Tough start this year missing.10 of 13 cuts. Still time to     recover and keep his card?
Gerry Dulac
10:27
Absolutely. I still believe he will win on the PGA Tour one of these days

Do you foresee the JPJ situation creating a divide among the guys that recently got their new deals?
Gerry Dulac
10:29
Not at all. They all understand it's a business.

I know I’m a week early but will Scottie get his grand slam at the Open

There is never anything wrong when predicting Scheffler to win any tournament. That would be a good storyline. But I'm not sure that's going to happen
Peter
10:31
According to your sources per yesterday's article, the Steelers are not planning to cut or trade anyone for cap purposes... Who, if any, will have their deals restructured?
Gerry Dulac
10:32
Hey, I can't know everything. But I think an easy guess would be players who have large contracts. That's typically the case.

10:32
If not the Steelers, which team would have been the best fit for developing and maximizing Drew Allar's potential?
Gerry Dulac
10:32
Well, he might not have been able to find a better situation than working with Mike McCarthy.

10:32
I always questioned the Vikings selecting J.J. McCarthy 10th overall in the 2024 draft. Did the Vikes make a Kenny Pickett type reach? Is J.J. McCarthy really any better than Will Howard?
Gerry Dulac
10:32
I'm with you there

Gerry what do you think about the contract extension of Darnell Washington i think he looked good last year before his Injury
Gerry Dulac
10:33
It was probably for more than what I would have guessed, but every contract these days is for more than what I would have imagined. Case in point: Herbig

Despite winning the Division last season, do you think the consensus among writers/talking heads will be that the Steelers will finish third again?
Gerry Dulac
10:33
Only among the ones who have no clue what they're talking about

Does the addition of Tonyan take away snaps from Washington?  Steelers didn't give fans much to cheer for last year with their unimaginative offense but watching him plow through defenders like a wrecking ball last year was the highlight of games.
Gerry Dulac
10:34
You mean the guy they invited to minicamp? Now he's going to take away snaps from Washington??? Uh.....

10:34
Gerry, what Steeler’s position group is the weakest and which is the strongest?   I say ILB and OL respectively.  Your comments.
Gerry Dulac

Those are good guesses.

I am looking forward to a wide open offense, one that will actually throw the ball deep… and over the middle. Has that looked to be the case so far?
