is sports writer a full time job ?

Gerry Dulac
10:13
Yes it is. And who is this Cook guy you reference??
J-town Johnnie
10:13
Gerry, I think Neal Shipley is going to be a great pro.  What are your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
I don't know about great, but I think he has what it takes to be a PGA Tour player. I don't think people fully comprehend what he did at the Masters and US Open
Casey Hampton
10:14
Gerry, can you please explain the Aiyuk fascination. Why would we give up future draft assets AND pay him a huge deal when we can just sign him in free agency next year without giving up any picks? Are we one Brandon Aiyuk away from a super bowñ
Gerry Dulac
10:14
Have you been talking to the Steelers?
Mike
10:14
Hello!  Do you understand the thinking of not resigning James Daniels?  He’s young and has performed well.
Gerry Dulac
10:15
Yes he has, but when you have two No. 1 picks and a top FA signing (Seumalo) on the line, you can't keep and pay everyone

10:15
How would you rate the team’s cornerback lineup and depth?
Gerry Dulac
10:15
I'll wait till I see it in a game
Greg
10:15
I haven’t seen any play of Aiyuk. In case he lands here for some reason, how would you compare his play to AB in his prime? (before he went nuts)
Gerry Dulac
10:16
I won't compare anyone to AB. What he did for 5-6 years was unmatched in NFL history. Of course, he had a great QB getting him the ball

Hi Gerry. Is there an informal "dead period" for NFL front office people and coaching staffs around this time of year when transaction business is put on hold and most go on vacation?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
Probably informal but doesn't mean it's dead. Most staffs are on vacation till the week of camp
Henry
10:17
Rory is an embarrassment. Biggest choke job in history. What you say?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
Not that
Mike P
10:17
Do you agree that any Brandon  Aiyuk trade would have to follow a messy training camp holdout?  And anything you read about now is just window dressing ?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
Mike, I don't read a lot about it now because most if not all of what I read I know not to be the case.
Mike
10:17
Do you think the release of Trenton Thompson signals another move coming for the secondary?
Gerry Dulac
10:18
Uh....no

10:18
Morning Jerry.  What coach, other than our own, could produce a Top 5 winning percentage over the last 4 years with the quality of quarterback play he received.  Wouldn’t you rather have a Tier1 quarterback over a new head coach?
Gerry Dulac
10:18
If you can find one.

When the Steelers are on "Hard Knocks" who will be the more insufferable, cringeworthy, blowhard? Russell Wilson or Mike Tomlin?
Gerry Dulac
10:18
Let me know when you watch. I won't.

Gerry,   I feel the NFL is going down the same route that Major League Baseball did before the MLB turned it around.  MLB tweeked some rules, added a few and now has a good flow to the game.  The only thing MLB could do to make the game even shorter is to bring back the golf cart for the bullpen riders to the mound.  The Pirate game [Skenes game] was very enjoyable to watch and played in around 2 hours and 30 minutes or so.  I just can't figure out the NFL.  More rule changes.  More challenges.  The NFL has not figured out what Intentional Grounding is [tackle box or no tackle box] and now has added a "new" tackle question on running plays.  The NFL game now has no flow to it.  The game plays choppy and inconsistent to watch.  But, mainly it robs the fans of the spontaneity of the game.  Hey, NFL take a lesson from the baseball guys and lets get the flow and excitment back in the game.

Greg, I hate to tell you pal, there is no comparison between MLB and the NFL -- not in viewership, not in attendance, not in  merchandise sales and not in the popularity of the game. Nothing.

I have mixed feelings about Fautanu and Jones being switched.  Part of me thinks that if the Steelers truly felt T.F. was the 2nd best tackle and a top 10 pick, then just let him compete at his natural position and keep 3 of 5 starting positions intact.  The other part of me really likes the idea of Moore being bumped down by Jones and leaving RT as potential weak link if Fautanu isn't ready.  What are your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:21
The move of Jones to LT not happening until Fautanu is ready to be the RT
Mr Ed

Interesting to me the seemingly different trajectories the LIV players have taken. DeChambeau still working his butt off to be great. Koepka still gets up for majors. But guys like Dustin Johnson and Cam Smith look like they took the money and lost their edge, no?
Gerry Dulac
10:21
It certainly looks that way, though Koepka has been a dud in the three majors this year too

For the Christmas "Hard Knocks" will Dick LeBeau come back and read "The Night Before Christmas?"

Why does it seem that the Steelers are so reluctant to do anything that might hurt Dan Moore's feelings?  By all accounts, he is a good guy and a hard worker.  But he is a marginal starter at LT.  The team seems to bend over backwards to put him in an advantageous position (LT vs. RT, starting vs. backup) at the expense of players drafted with 1st round picks.
Gerry Dulac
10:23
You don't start every game at LT since day 1 if your NFL career and be a marginal starter. And they are not worried about Dan Moore's feelings....or any player's feelings for that matter. They will do what they think is best

No way the Steelers should overpay for a wide receiver who may be AB part 2. They need to build some depth with some good role players but not divas IMO. Do you think the Steelers feel the same?
Gerry Dulac
10:24
Until they see what they have in Roman Wilson, who I really like, I think they would be a more comfortable having a talented veteran to pair with George Pickens for now

Thanks for the chats. Im curious, does the team help/set up living arrangements for rookies, UFA's, etc. Or are they on their own to find a place to live? Wondered because they may not know the area very well.
Gerry Dulac
10:24
They help them

How do you explain the DeChambeau transformation ? He seems like a completely different guy (body type aside) than the guy Koepka was constantly clowning. Thoughts ?
Gerry Dulac
10:25
Not sure, but it's great to see. Maturity, for one. Public awareness for another. The tour misses him and players like him, big time
