Gerry, Tomlin fanboys often bring up "Ben made turnovers" and countless other excuses to account for the team's wretched playoff record of recent years. You can't blame the coach for the players' poor performances, they say. OK, then who exactly was that on the football field throwing for 500 yards and fighting through blocks to make sacks that made all of those non-losing seasons happen? Was that Tomlin's coaching genius or the players out on the field? You can't have it both ways.

I'm in favor of acquiring a big time receiver, lets say Aiyuk and paying him whatever the market price is. We are paying a lot of money for 4 linebackers (queen, watt, highsmith, holcomb), 2 d linemen, and a safety. I imagine our highest paid offensive players are, wait for it...... Seumalo and Daniels! 2 guards! When your starting guards, who aren't even top 5 players at their position are your highest paid offensive players, you have a problem. Go get a big time receiver. Thoughts?

You make a lot of sense Truth, and I'm with ya. And you forgot that your QBs are el cheapo. That's why they have explored the options

Hi Gerry.  Did the Steelers make enough improvements on defense to consistently hold teams below 21 pts this season.  I don’t see this offense putting up much more per game.

That's what we're going to find out. I think Patrick Queen might be the biggest add of the offseason, but nothing was done to improve the defensive line

Also, the I do not trust Pickens to keep his head on straight and its hard to trust Freiermuth to stay healthy. I may be in the minority but Pickens to me is FAR from a sure thing. And these other guys????? Go get an established high level receiver.

To be sure, he has to prove he's that guy beyond thinking he can be that guy

Gerry, what are your thoughts about Najee Harris not speaking to the media (the media being a conduit to the fans)?   Thoughts about him being on the team next year?  Thank you.
Gerry Dulac

I think it's reflective of what Najee Harris thinks about the media being a conduit to the fan base. It doesn't bother me when a player doesn't talk to the media, unlike some media people.

Hi Gerry, US Open was great theatre once again, while #2 get's its share of criticism from some players, it a great show for a major.  Kept wondering what Brad Faxon was feeling as Rory struggled on those final three - mechanics are one thing, overcoming the mental demons quite another.  BTW... thanks also for the coverage on Neil, nice to see he perform well... again!

Agree on all fronts

Trent Dilfer wouldn’t be considered a franchise QB and never put up great numbers he just managed the game and had a dominant defense. The Steelers seem as if they need to follow this plan IMHO but they haven’t been able to. Has the game changed to the point when a dominant D and a game managing QB would no longer work today? What am I missing?

No I don't think so, but that QB better be able to make a few plays down the field

Hi Gerry, Why do fans and writers always say that Tomlin never gets criticized? In my opinion, he gets criticized all the time.
Gerry Dulac

Agreed. He's constantly criticized. Hammered, might be a better word.

OK kids, the questions are slowing and I'm out of time. We won't reconvene until training camp. See you then
