Well, after I saw him get to a playoff at the Players with Rory, I knew he had something in him. Great theater at the very end. All by himself, he made the 2025 US Open memorable. Otherwise....

With regard to the TJ Watt negotiations, why do the Steelers act like the franchise tag does not exist as an option? It seems to me that the Steelers should hold all the power given that Watt can be franchised.

Is art rooney 2 so respected and revered by the local press that no one will question his efficacy? From an outsiders pov he looks apathetic, confused, subservient to Mike Tomlin and out of touch with what the Steelers use to be and have become.  In short it’s like he has given up, doesn’t care or is of diminished capacity.  Do you defend art2 or see any legitimacy in my observations

Hey Gerry...always enjoy reading your chats.  They, who-ever they are, say nothing lasts forever. The Steelers philosophy the last decade or so appears to be play in the middle, draft in the middle, and linger in the middle.  So my question to you is how do you see this changing in the not so distant future..Does the franchise make the necessary changes that allow it to rise above mediocracy, or does it eventually and organically slide in the abyss?

Lets see ....the Ravens are 95-53 in the regular season, Steelers are 91-55-2. Postseason, the Ravens are 3-6, Steelers are 0-5. Hmmmm....??

What happens if the Steelers either don't make the playoffs or go one and done getting blown out by halftime in the Wild Card round yet again? Does Teryl Austin get let go only because he is the only coach on the last year of his contract? Is Tomlin still sound as the pound only because he will still have 2 years left on his contract?

Do you think TJ personally wants to be the highest paid at his position?  We've heard its all about the guaranteed monies and he doesn't seem like an ego guy, but the agents I'm sure want that to advance their own brand.

I can't answer that. He goes through 2027 as of right now. I haven't seen or been given any indication he plans on making that the end

If the defense is close to elite as hoped, could Rodgers do what noodle-arm Manning did in riding them to a close game and do just enough to get them deep in the playoffs or (gasp) a Super Bowl?

Gerry, TJ has been such a great player for the Steelers for 9 years and is the face of the defense. I realize its a business but how can a FA signing be the highest paid player on the team? I realize hes a good receiver but dp you think its right?
