OK kids, we're going to start our chat in approx 5-10 minutes so get ready...
9:47
OK, let's get started.....

Do you think the players would have more respect for Mason if he questioned the Ogunjobi signing?  Everyone knows he's being traded at some point anyway, stand up for yourself and call it for what it was - cheap and dirty football.
Gerry Dulac
9:49
As a player once famously said, "That has nothin' to do with nothin." That wasn't the first, nor will it be the last, act of cheap and dirty football, as you call it. It can be a nasty game and EVERY player knows it. Stuff happens. A shove to the ground isn't the most egregious act ever committed.

Oops!! Here is my question:  Do you think the Steelers will make any other "major" signings before training camp?  I know they like to reserve money to see if anyone gets cut.
Gerry Dulac
9:50
Depends what you consider to be major Bob. Was Ogunobi a major signing? I think it was a good one, if he's healthy. Barring injuries, I think all the major signings are over and done with.

The Steelers have methodically addressed most positions of weakness this offseason.  If they were to do anything else, shouldn't it be OT?  We are one injury away from a journeyman bookend.  Seems very risky?
Gerry Dulac

There aren't many, if any, offensive lines in the league that have quality depth. Most teams are looking for quality starters. I hear your point, but it's easier said than done.

What minor details could be holding up the Pickett signing?
Gerry Dulac
9:52
None now

If the offense flounders again is Canada going to get a “he needs another year with the new QB” pass from Rooney?
Gerry Dulac
9:52
He shouldn't. Didn't think he should have had a pass this year.
JG
9:52
What are your views on the OLB's competing for spots 3 & 4?
Gerry Dulac
9:52
I'll wait till training camp. I don't have lofty expectations.

Extend Boswell, Gentry, and take one shot with Johnson.  If they are far apart, which I imagine they are, I'm not sure I see the value of keeping him if a decent trade option becomes available.  Until somebody can prove they are better than Ben (which I doubt), this team will be fun to watch but not a legitimate playoff contender with or without Johnson.  Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
9:53
That's the first time I ever heard someone suggest the Steelers need to extend Gentry..!!

Can you please list all of Chase Claypool's attibutes? You see him in practice, etc.               He didn't look good spouting off the other day.        Be specific & show your work.

Good morning Gerry. Any thought on maybe trading Claypool during camp if Pickens and Austin prove to be the real deal. Claypool’s production is less than his til tok posts. Thanks Hondo from Cranberry
Gerry Dulac
9:58
Hey Hondo, I'd hold off on that one. Don't think they have any thoughts of that, and neither do I.

Q. for higher round draft choices like Bush and Layne who don't appear to be headed for a 2nd contract, how are they counted in the compensatory formula?  Is it their production or draft position used to assign picks?  Thanks
Gerry Dulac
10:00
They are all counted together -- i.e., how many free agents the Steelers lose (and make a roster) and how many they sign (and make a roster). Size of contract, quality of player is also weighted.

Hi Gerry With the Steelers just resigning Minkah Fitzpatrick Do you think will be able to resign do you Deontae  Johnson
Gerry Dulac
10:00
That will be determined next year I believe

Do you have a favorite "Goose" story you can tell?
Gerry Dulac
10:02
Joe, I have several but don't have enough time and space here to illuminate. There aren't too many players I liked more than Goose. When he, Burt Grossman and Jerry Olsavsky lived together at Pitt, it was the source of many tremendous stories, right down to Goose keeping his pet snake in a steamer in the apartment and putting it out on the TV when someone came to visit.

Any info on how long it will take Larry Ogenjobi to be able to play foot wise?
Gerry Dulac
10:02
Have not heard. Checking...

It looks like Larry O. might be a good replacement for Tuitt. sThe Steelers should also try and sign Suh for depth at nose tackle.
Gerry Dulac
10:03
He's not Tuitt, but, if healthy, he will be a good add. My people in Cincy said he was the Bengals best interior rusher since Geno Atkins last season

Ogunjobi signing could be huge based on his past performances, but was it released why he failed the recent Bears physical?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
Yes. That's why he only got a one-year contract.
Paul from Beaver Falls
10:03
The Steelers need to sign Suh as  run stuffing depth.
Gerry Dulac
10:03
OK, I'll tell them
Ben Jacobs
10:03
Do you think we will see the Boswell deal get done before training camp or closer to the start of the season?
Gerry Dulac
10:04
Not sure when, but it will get done. Write it down

With our hopefully improved improved O Line and now mobile QB(whoever that may be) do you expect to see the average yards/throw increase significantly? I can’t imagine we’ll witness as many quick throws as last year.
Gerry Dulac
10:05
I agree. I think you will see a lot more play-action, at least, that is the intent. And that means throws that will take a little longer than 2.1 seconds to release.

Gerry, think this off-season has been one of the best in recent history. Starting with the Flores hire and addressing lots of needs through FA and the draft. We still need a backup RB to Najee because the talent behind him stinks.  Would like depth at OLB but every team needs depth. The only thing
Gerry Dulac
10:06
It has been one of the their busiest offseasons for sure, and probably one of their best, though time will prove whether that it the case or not. I agree with the backup RB. They could use a DeAngelo Williams type to back up 22. The ones they have are certainly not that, especially McFarland.
