Gerry, this team on paper seems to be equal or worse at QB, slightly improved OL, slightly worse at WR and D is about the same.  Why should I believe they will be better than last year? The OC is still going to call swing pass on 4th and 11

Defense is better, WR is better, but the OC needs to be better.

Is the talk of Tomlin gaining power with GM hire overblown (sitting in on interviews, etc)?  It seems to me that AR2 sees the GM and Head Coach as peers.  Any head coach fire/hire is essentially AR2's decision anyway - not the GM's.

I for one am really excited about the season. I believe the steelers are going to shock everyone and be really good this year. I also am  coming from Toronto to a Steelers game vs. the jets and am extremely excited.

One of other great PG writers, probably not as good at golf as our other favorite writer, wrote this in his mailbag this week.  You sure he was talking about Franklin and not Tomlin?          He is a great recruiter. He is a great CEO coach and has put together an excellent program. I just think he has a big ego and gets in the way of his coaches on game day. He doesn’t seem to be able to let his coaches make decisions. He seems to be a bit of a micromanager. His handling of quarterbacks is a disaster. I think he is an excellent coach, but he needs to evolve just a little and rely on his coaches a lot more than he does.

Yes, I think he can be a significant contributor. Good interior rusher. Seven sacks last season with Bengals.

Count me in as the next one that believes Gentry should get a second contract! Do you feel he can earn that this season?

I agree, he deserves a second contract, and I think he will surely get one. I'm just surprised when people ask about him getting a new deal as though it was Minkah or Boz or even DJ.

Since Ogunjobi apparently passed his physical why the one year deal? I kinda hate a one year rental on a team that objectively will not be competing for a championship in 2022. I suppose they can extend him after the season but if he balls out and stays healthy they will not be able to afford him.

I think that's why. Just because he passed his  physical doesn't mean he can play for 2-3-4 years. They obviously think with his injury they can get at least one year out of him. Also, keep in mind, their ortho surgeon is the best in the league, maybe the country. I think he might know what he's doing.

Haha...but he's the second-string TE. I like Gentry and they will re-sign him. But it's not exactly like they have Gronk in the making.

Did the Steelers quietly rebuild under our noses?  Offense is young with a few rising stars. Maybe a lineman or two needed in the near future. Defense has it's stars and is solid.  A  true #1 corner needs to be acquired. Over all pretty good job of righting the ship for the next 2-3 years

Hello . Thank you for the chat . My heart goes out to Mason Rudolph for being such a good soldier . He is ok as a QB . At least have a winning record . But also such a loyal team person . Not once I remember him saying anything that goes against the team or the company line . With whatever was said by Ben , Najee , and even some team members on the defense on someone else coming to be the QB  , he has always said and done the right thing . Do you agree ?

Absolutely I agree. He is the consummate solider and teammate. Professionally speaking, I feel bad for him. But, who knows, the Steelers could surprised us all.
