Gerry. What exactly is holding up the trade? Rumor is San Fran wants a one and a receiver. I don’t think the one is the issue. Is it that we just don’t have a receiver to give? Meaning they feel Calvin Austin is really not a roster guy for them? We can give up GP so what else do we have to offer except high picks?

What sense would it make to get Aiyuk?  The amount he would command and what we have to give up only makes if you are one player away.  This team seems many players (and a few coaches) away from the Promised Land.

Hi Gerry. I just can't understand the obsession with WR2. Teams win with great quarterback play. Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson (I'll exclude Joe Burrow because he has 2 excellent receivers) win without a great stable of wideouts. They do however have really good tight ends. You can put AB, Randy Moss and Jerry Rice on the field and might have a punchers chance of scoring points with an average quarterback. The Steelers won a lot of games with the Killer Bs. Unfortunately, no Super Bowels. The bottom line is, the Steelers are not going to win another Super Bowl without a franchise quarterback. So why waste draft picks and salary on a player who may or may not be better than George Pickens.

Gerry, Some have said that the 49ers are asking for a 1st rd pick and possibly a player for Aiyuk and that it will take $35M/yr to sign him to long-term deal. My take is that this is too high a price on both counts and that the team is not just one solid WR away from being a SB contender this year in any case. What say you?
