Hi Gerry. Hoping they will keep the 4 QBs. If they keep 4 on the 53, do you think the rest of the O will consist of 3 RB, 6 WR, 4 TE's (including Nowakowski), and 9 OL or are they more likely to lose a player on defense to carry the extra QB? Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
10:30
That's a pretty good summation. Nowakowski will either be the 4th RB or the 4th TE, however you want to count him

Mr. Dulac- much respect  for the awesome job you do everyday, thank you! I’m looking forward to watching this defense with the players we’ve added and PG’s gamplanning. What are your thoughts, could this D be top 10 this year?
Gerry Dulac
10:32
I'm waiting to see. I don't think it's been stressed enough how much pressure/scrutiny Patrick Graham will be under with this defense. He has a lot of good pieces and depth. Can he show they are better than recent years?

Is Kaleb Johnson going to get cut?
Gerry Dulac

Anything is possible

10:33
Hey, Gerry -- thanks for the chat. I know it's been asked a hundred times, but: Is there a legitimate scenario where the Steelers keep four QBs? It seems like this is the rare situation where it would make a lot of sense.
Gerry Dulac
10:36
It does make a lot of sense and it's not as rare as you think. Part of the logic is this: Your starter is retiring after the season, you don't want to bring in another veteran to be the starter, and you have two young guys who you think are pretty good. Plus, every move you have made the past 2-3 years, including with the head coach, is to bring in veteran guys to get you over the top, which is why keeping Rudolph is in line with that thinking. I'll hang up and listen
Steeler Joe
10:36
If you were trading one of them, which QB would demand more in return, Rudolph or Howard? I get that Rudolph is a proven vet, but Howard seems to be a young guy with more upside and thus might actually bring more of a return.
Gerry Dulac
10:37
With all due respect, Howard wouldn't fetch anything. He's never played in a real NFL game and last week was the first time he even took a snap in an NFL preseason
Steeler Joe
10:37
Will Drew Allar get to see any disguised coverages in preseason? I wonder how he'll do when the defenses stop being so vanilla ... that's when we're going to find out if he's really able to process and make good decisions.
Gerry Dulac
10:37
And you may never find that answer because, once the regular season begins, he may never see the field

With the Witherspoon deal done, will they be signing JPJ? Based on top salaries and where he lands in that group, it looks like his deal should be something like 4 yrs, $104M with about $72M guaranteed. If they think that's too much for him, will they work on extending ASJ or roll the dice and try to sign one of them prior to free agency next year. Letting both get to free agency seems like a mistake that will likely cost more than working out something now. Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
10:39
Witherspoon's deal, or Gonzalez' pending deal, has nothing to do with the Steelers signing Porter -- if they sign him

Good morning Gerry!  do you remember that time when some silly Steelers fans were disappointed in the Mike McCarthy hire?
Gerry Dulac
10:40
I sure do

What's your favorite long shot story of this camp? For me it's Rubio, because I think he has a better chance than the Navy kid.
Gerry Dulac
10:41
The odds are against the "Navy kid" from making the team because of who's in front of him. Rubio has a better chance because there is probably room for one more DL and he will be in that mix
Ryan
10:42
Gerry what do you think about the play of Gabe Rubio i think he looked good On Thursday and he did good in training camp i think he makes the team because of Logan Lee being injured
Gerry Dulac
10:42
You might be right

Gerry, Mitch Trubisky's last pass as a Steeler was an interception over the middle of the field against the Colts. Had he been picked off down the sideline would he have been punished so harshly? It seems like he broke one of MTs commandments and never saw the field again in a black and gold uniform.
Gerry Dulac

As Bill Cowher liked to say, I don't play the what-if game

Any "new" updates on injuries to DK, Pittman Ramsey and Iheanachor?  Feels like the Steelers have a history of underplaying injury reports in camp.  It's a shame to see Iheanachor miss two pre-season games - so important for rookies.
Gerry Dulac
10:43
That's because the league does not require teams to list injuries in training camp. Nobody is being sneaky here
Greenwood
10:44
Any word on what Iheanachor's injury is and his ETA to return to the lineup?
Gerry Dulac
10:45
No. It looked as though he might return last week, according to MM, and that didn't happen. And he wasn't even on the field Monday for practice. He at least was showing up in uniform even when he wasn't practicing

Do you think Joey Junior is worth a first round pick? If not, wouldn’t it be silly to give him elite CB money?
Gerry Dulac

Good morning Gerry. While I’m happy Allar played well, what’s with some reporters anointing him QB for the future. He looked good against third string players trying to make the practice squad. I understand the hope and I hope also but it’s a little premature IMO.  Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:45
A little premature??

Hi Gerry, what do you see as the main differences between Howard and Allar from a capabilities perspective. Do one or two things stand out from what you’ve seen so far?
Gerry Dulac
10:47
Yeah, the throwing arm. Allar can really sling it, though everybody knew that. But if a throwing arm was all that mattered, Jeff George would be in the Hall of Fame
Abella Danger
10:47
Hey Gerry, do you think if JPJ gets upset enough he could be traded?
Gerry Dulac
10:47
I don't think he's going to be traded.

I love "Zamo's" question and enthusiasm.  And agree with your response, but you did not say why your not matching his enthusiasm?  For me - it is lack of trust with the OL. Could you elaborate?
Gerry Dulac
10:48
No, it's because I don't get enthusiastic about anything in August

Thanks for the chats Gerry. Supposedly our coaching, OL, receivers, DL, LB’s, and secondary are all better than previous years. QB and RB- so,so. Why do the national media jackwagons act as though we can’t make some noise come January?
Gerry Dulac
10:49
Why do you (or they) say QB is so-so? And especially RB? That's because those national people typically know not of what they speak
BH
10:49
Hi Gerry.  The Steelers seemed to show quite a bit of talent, well beyond 53 they can keep. Do you think there are any players in the category of 'we let them go and now they come back to haunt us'?
Gerry Dulac
10:50
I'll hold off on that one. That, though, can be the case every year with every team. Sometimes, good players have to be let go.
