Gerry: for all of the mis-evaluations that the Steelers have made on QBs over the last four years, where would you rate not signing Baker Mayfield in 2022?  Mayfield had some bad games vs the Steelers, but he also shredded them a few times including in the playoffs so they had an up close view on someone who has become a top 10-15 QB.

That's hindsight. Easy to say. That being said, I like Baker. I like his toughness, feistiness and not being afraid to make plays

I think the problem with the Steelers is Tomlins philosophy. It’s old and his ego won’t change it that’s why they will never win anything while he’s there. My opinion your thoughts?

Had to vent on PGA/Fed Ex. Happy for Tommy Fleetwood to get a W even though it was a limited 30 man field. I cannot stand the fed ex cup and believe it’s all a money grab. TF being the fed ex cup champ is a joke IMO.  I know a lot complained about last years top players getting “x” amount of strokes advantage before last years event but this year was much worse. I don't think the tour players like the system either. Good for Fleetwood, great to see him finally win. Well deserved. But everyone knows Scheffler is the regular-season champ and he has plenty of money to OWGR points to prove it.

Should we assume that Howard will be put on the four game IR? The only problem with that is he cannot practice so his development might be stunted. What do you see after the fourth game? Does Thompson get released or does Howard go on the season-ending IR?

He will go on IR and they will decide how long he's on there. But it has to be for at least four games. As for his development, unless there are injuries, the only thing he would be doing is acting as the scout-team QB, not working with the first or second team. The regular season is not for developing. That's what training camp is for.

He was the best of an average QB class and we're seeing that happen. Steelers were desperate for a QB and they over-evaluated, like so many other teams do when it comes to trying to find that franchise guy

Hi Gerry, Will Rodgers be "allowed" to throw down the middle of the field?  It is hard to sustain drives when you are afraid to use the whole field. Those quick slants just gash a defense.

The Steelers running game has been middling for years. But its essential to Arthur Smith’s offense. Do you think this combination of OL and RB by committee has a chance to move into the top 10 running games in the NFL?

I think it's been better than middling. They were 11th last year, 13th year before in yards rushing, so not that horrible. I think they have a chance to do better because now they have three backs they can use on a rotational basis
