Those decisions are made by three people -- Mike Tomlin, Kevin Colbert and even Art Rooney II. Assistants have some input but that's all it is.

Do not dismiss the possibility. At this point, the Steelers will go into week 1 with what they have and evaluate from there. That is not an uncommon practice.

Greetings Gerry. Like many, I was surprised by Tomlin getting his coaching extension. I'm not a Tomlin hater, but certainly concerned about the team's chronic losses to bad teams. Also, his management of AB was dismal at best (and his lack of ability to admit his mistakes regarding AB was somewhat childish in my opinion). I hope the Mr. Rooney proves me wrong but I think the contract was a bit premature.

I didn't think they needed to do it now, either, especially after how the past two seasons have ended. To me, by waiting, they would have been making this a show-me year for Mike Tomlin, even if it was for public posturing. But the Steelers are traditionalists and that's the way they've always done it. Still, I don't believe in getting rid of Tomlin. That's not warranted.
