It was an injury that could have bothered him on and off all season, which is why he had surgery now.

Thanks as always for the chats Gerry.  People need to realize great left tackles dont grow on trees and those that are great get paid.  I like what the Steelers have done with the line and yes it is the biggest question mark but give the guys a chance.  Are people really thinking we should have taken tackle in the draft and pass on Najee?  So we have a unproven rookie left tackle with the same above average running back group?  Lets see how this plays out but personally I like it

I think they have shown they change with the times. But that doesn't mean they have to foolish and reckless with their money like other teams who flame out in a short amount of time

Will MT stick to his rule of players needing to practice on Friday before a game to play in the game on Sunday? Say for example Watt signs a deal on Saturday night - will they sit him on Sunday?

First off, that rule only applies to injured players. And it doesn't apply to veteran players -- especially star players -- who might have been injured and didn't practice Friday but are fine enough to play. Watt is under contract. He either plays or would be guilty of insubordination. Contract or no, I expect him to play.
