Why is Minkah Fitzpatrick All Pro? I get that a DB that can catch it and... get YAC is a commodity but he gets beat in coverage... a lot. He can't or won't  tackle either.

Hello . Thank you as always for the chat . I have a 2 part question . I am a big KC fan , but do you find it strange that they let go of Quincy Roche and kept  UG even though they have extra bodies at ILB position and nothing is certain about Watt holdout ? At least , Roche had some potential . And now Butler said over weekend that they might add OLB . Secondly , any early observation about CB Witherspoon? Do you see any reason for optimism? Thank you very much .

Apparently they don't think so. Roche should nothing in the preseason and I'm not surprised he was waived.

I've not seen the Steelers this aggressive before in terms of trading future assets to fill holes now.  They have added CB, S, ILB, OLD and DL to build depth in their defense.  On offense, hey used the draft and free agents.  What bullets are left in the gun to deal with the OL if it fails?

Is the NFL's escrow rule (guaranteed money needs to be placed into escrow upon contract signing) an issue in the negotiations with TJ Watt? My assumption has been that it is this rule and then lost flexibility to manipulate the salary cap in future years is why the Steelers only guarantee the signing bonus and the first year of any player's contract.

They are careful about guaranteeing large portions of a contract, especially one this big, because of how it can cripple them down the road. And what happens if the player gets injured??

Two items.  TE - I think rookie PF will play more in the first half as the Stillers try to establish the run game.  Ebron will play more in the second half as the Stillers try to catch back.  Thoughts?  Also, the Stillers did not trade the 5th rd comp pick but trading for the new CB viewed as if they signed him in free agency and will cancel the Feiler comp pick.

Gerry, I am looking at the timing of Watts contract and it couldnt be better for the Steelers. Bens big money is going to expire and Watts will take over, then when (if) we find Bens replacement by the time his big QB money contract is due Watts will be ending, so I am not sure why people are so worried about 100 mill for Watt it really should not effect the salary cap and Watt is on an all time NFL great player pace

Well, it sounds like the guaranteed money is OK, at one season's salary, so it must be the size of the "Signing bonus" that is the problem.  $30 mil versus $50 mil.  I can see boths sides of this.  I hope that the Steelers and TJ can agree on a #.
