Is Ben a first ballot HOFer?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
He is to me. Huge numbers, three Super Bowls, two SB victories. If Brees is, he is

Good morning Gerry,

It appears the Steelers have been intentional in building a younger core to replace the aging, veteran roster.  (They kept the entire 2025 and 2026 draft on the active roster this year except Kaleb Johnson (trade) and Donte Kent (pup list).

Besides finding the long-term answer at quarterback and the draft classes producing, what else is needed to accelerate the rebuild?
Gerry Dulac
10:15
Having some of those young guys develop into Pro Bowl players. Name the last one? It's been a while. Keeping rookies is nice. Having them develop into elite players is better

Good morning, Gerry: Is there any movement on JP’s contract situation since Gonzalez signed earlier this week? If not, do you think they will get it done before Sunday?
Gerry Dulac
10:16
I will tell you what I've been told, "Hard to say at this point."

Good morning, Gerry: Huge golf news. Is this the final nail for LIV Golf?
Gerry Dulac
10:16
We'll see. Apparently some of the players think so

Gerry: I can't remember a major acquisition getting fewer media mentions in camp and preseason than Pittman did.  Rodgers' recent comments cast further doubt on Pittman's projected contributions.  Has his injury ever been revealed?  Do you still think he can be the solution at WR2?
Gerry Dulac
10:21
Correct. Teams don't have to reveal injuries in the preseason so we don't know for sure and I'm not going to speculate. But I think it was a great pickup for a No. 2 receiver. The guy has averaged 88 catches and 850+ yards each season

Gerry: as the Jets found out, when AR is your QB you seem to get a free assistant GM in charge of pass catchers as part of the deal.  Is having AR at QB going to stunt or enhance the development of the young WRs like Bernard and Wilson?
Gerry Dulac
10:22
When you have a QB like that, it can only enhance. Remember: Great QBs make WRs better. WRs don't always make QBs better

GM Gerry! I have seen no gaita in this team from national media but we have assembled the best roster probably in the last 8 years. Are you concerned with McCarthy first year? I don’t but definitely you know more than me !
Gerry Dulac
10:23
I am not concerned at all, but then I don't get concerned about such things. Yes this is their best and deepest roster in years. They are a better team on paper than they were last year

All teams are going to have questions about certain position groups.  For Steelers seems to be Offensive Line and Safeties.  While Safeties I am hoping just at least turns into an "ok" squad, I still think the Offensive Line can turn into a strength.  What do you think?
Gerry Dulac
10:24
I think you are on the right path. Especially when Iheanachor gets in there

I see PG dropped “first coach fired” from the staff’s NFL predictions. Who would have been your candidate?
Gerry Dulac
10:25
I didn't realize that. Let's see.....Aaron Glenn

Hey, Gerry, thanks for the chats. Does the "Pat Freiermuth *or* Darnell Washhington" designation on the depth chart mean the Steelers will live in 12 personnel this season?
Gerry Dulac
10:25
Coaches play games with their depth charts so I don't pay much heed to such designations.

Hi Gerry- I’m sure half the questions today will be about Porter. Cowboys created cap room in hopes to land another stud on defense. Would you be ok with trading him if we got a first rounder? I say that or we tag him. Enough of his nonsense.
Gerry Dulac
10:27
Funny thing is Kevin, this is only the second question specifically about Porter. They would listen if someone came with a first-rounder, but I'm not sure any NFL GM is that desperate to make such an offer for a CB with no Pro Bowls and only three picks at this point

Do the Steelers have the fortitude to let Joey sit if it comes to that?
Gerry Dulac
10:28
Haven't heard it put that way, but yes

This haven't given up touchdown stats for porter is ridiculous. He would have given up plenty if he wasn't holding every other play.

Gerry, do you have a sense about what to expect from Watt this season? Obviously his sack production fell last year. Is Father Time at work here, or might he rebound to a 12 sack season? He preferred to not move around in Tomlin’s defense, but it sounds like he will have to this season
Gerry Dulac
10:30
Well, that's what we're going to find out. And I'd go easy on that "he will have to" move around this season stuff
Wiscoken

Not sure why so many folks feel the Steelers need to change (update) their position on not negotiating during the season.  I actually think it's one of the most practical and impactful negotiating strategies that they have.  I often wonder how many teams wish they had a similar practice and precedent in place.
Gerry Dulac
10:30
Many teams don't have that fortitude. Wait...there's that word again.

Thanks for being the only consistent, no-nonsense reporter over the years glad that you’re back for another year. But maybe you should “dig deeper” this year. Now that made me laugh today.

Gerry, do you think Rogers has a better year under McCarthy and will the offense open up to more big plays?
Gerry Dulac

I do. And I do

Good morning Gerry. What is your opinion on our WR status?  Do you think Slayton would be a good pick up. Another veteran might help. Thanks
Gerry Dulac
10:33
I think they will be fine. I don't seem to understand the griping about WR. They make a trade for a big-time WR like Pittman, use a second-round pick on a good-looking rookie such as Bernard, and people want more.

Since Lev Bell can't or won't pay his child support, how much did he lose by not signing the contract the Steelers offered?
Gerry Dulac

Take a look at the rest of his career. A LOT!!
