Mike Sullivan would likely call the plays if Canada missed a game for some reason. It wouldn't be Tomlin.

Starting slow has been a Tomlin tradition.  The starters don't play enough in the preseason to get in sync.  He typically uses September for that.  Wouldn't it make more sense to use August to get in sync when the outcomes don't matter?

Yeah, and get guys hurt in a meaningless game??? No coach will do that

Hello . Thank you as always for the chat . Do you know if Steelers offered Zach Gentry a place on practice squad and he turned it down or did they never offered him ? I find it odd that a team who talked so much about bully ball decided to limit their options in the event of injury . Thank you so much .

I do not know. sorry

If the Steelers fail to make the playoffs, do you think MT's job could finally be in jeopardy?
Gerry Dulac
10:34
No. Not only that, I expect him to get a contract extension after this season. Hope that doesn't ruin your morning.

It's ONE game, we'll be fine. Relax. Agreed?
Gerry Dulac
10:35
I think I've stated that. Many times.

SF defense is as good as we will see all season.  Nothing like a good smack in the mouth to refocus as it seemed like too much was made of the preseason.  I still believe - Gerry, do you believe?? :)
Gerry Dulac
10:37
Who are you...Deion Sanders? Asking the media if they believe now? It is not my job to believe. I am willing to wait, though

Good morning Gerry, given the expectations coming into the season and the injuries that were sustained, would you consider this the worst home opened in recent steeler memory?
Gerry Dulac
10:37
It's right up there

Tua and Lawrence got new offensive coordinators and are playing really well. The Steelers' reasoning for bringing back Canada for continuity is flawed. The guys is NOT an NFL quality OC. Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:38
It was not a good enough reason

Hi Gerry! Thanks for the chats. Does the lack of any information of Friermuth, other than he will be limited in practice, mean it is no big deal and he should be fine?
Gerry Dulac
10:39
That's usually what it means. It means they think he will be fine to play. Think.

Hello Gerry, always appreciate your time.  Since Tomlin was hired, few are better than him at getting the most out of his player, maintaining a winning culture in the locker room.  His Achilles is he consistently gets out coached.  His 3 best years he had Arians, Haley, Butler, or Lebeau.   Since he started calling plays his defense in the playoffs been awful.  Under Fichtner/Canada offense look even worse.  Does he really want to swallow his pride and hire good coordinators or is he happy to never ever have a losing season but never any good?
Gerry Dulac

All those 'best' coaches he had were hired by Cowher

Good morning Gerry! Do you see the Steelers bringing in, or at least looking at, any outside DL men to replace 97? Maybe someone's older brother who's currently retired? Thanks!
Gerry Dulac

I do not and, as of right now, they will not.

This game was an embarrassment in all ways.  Yet from my seats I saw Tomlin stand with his back to the players, arms behind his back, and watching the game most of the time.  No enthusiasm.  No yelling at players.  No coaching.  Cool as a cucumber.  Why does he act that way?
Gerry Dulac
10:40
Because they were being humbled and he knew it.

Hello, Gerry. For the past several years, the Steeler defense has performed “below the line” against a lot of higher level NFL offenses. With the talent and money they have invested in their D, is this shortfall still considered a talent issues or is this really a scheme issue? Whatever the case, any ideas how/if they can fix it?
Gerry Dulac
10:41
Yeah, find and develop more young talent. That's what they're hoping to do  with 92, 95, 98 and 24.

how long do you think Diontae and Cam will be out for? And what’s your prediction on if we make the playoffs
Gerry Dulac
10:42
DJ will be out up to 4 weeks, I was told today. Cam will be out up to 8 weeks, I was told, maybe longer.

Were we really bad or were the 49ers really good? Do you buy into the speculation of Kenny’s head smashing into the ground impacting his play?
Gerry Dulac
10:42
Both.
OK kids, have to head to the locker room. Thanx for the questions. See you next week
