OK kids, here we go....Fire away

Gerry, I had one catch for three yards Sunday. Is Matt Canada's Offense too conservative? You know, for a Head Coach that constantly says "we don't live in our fears," he often coaches like he does.
Gerry Dulac

Who is this???

10:01
Hello Gerry, With this game being a home game do you think the offense will look better and do you think they will try and establish the run game early to try and even out the time of possession compared to last week?
Gerry Dulac
10:02
Run game? What run game? Did you see a run game in Cincinnati?? I didn't. Establish it? How about have it.

Top of the morning Gerry. It has mostly been assumed that Tomlin had actually been calling the defensive alignments over the past few years. This year, with new defensive coordinators, did they actually get run the defense or did Tomlin once again call the plays? Hope it’s the former and not the latter.
Gerry Dulac
10:04
Hey John, that was no assumption. That was the reality. I can't honestly tell you yet  if the arrangement has changed, but I don't expect Tomlin is going to give up the reigns just yet. Maybe a little. I'll be monitoring tho.

Do you believe it’s a protection issue why they don’t use the middle of the field more? Muth was getting some looks there. Or developing trust with Mitch?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
Freiermuth will always get his looks in the middle of the field. That's where he goes. Sometimes it depends on the coverages. Not sure it has anything to do with trust or protection, though protection helps.

Hello Gerry . Thank you as always for the chat . I know that Trubisky did not urinate down his leg but only 10 points offensively after 5 turnovers can hardly be termed acceptable. Cincy would have won the game if they would have thrown a red flag when runner was deemed short of goal line . I believe that Steelers had an under the table hand shake with Trubisky that he would get starting job no matter what and perhaps that’s why he signed with them on the first day . I am ok with that but than why call this a competition when you are not going to give it to the someone who did better in the competition , as you admitted many times that Rudolph was the most consistent of the 3 QB ? All Trubisky did in preseason was one last drive against Lions . He may not have lost the job but did he really win the job ? Thank you very much .
Gerry Dulac
10:07
Hey Phoenix, there was no under the table handshake with Trubisky. He was given the starting job because he was the most experienced of the three and did nothing to merit losing the job. After one game -- an overtime victory in which Trubisky produced the winning game -- this sounds like an early call from you to put in Kenny Pickett.

Jerry, given what happened to the Bengals on Sunday, and we all remember James Harrison‘s snap attempt, why do teams use random position players as their back up long snapper? Seems to me the back up center may be a better choice. That individual is used to snapping the ball, albeit a different type of snap, and would certainly be a better option blocking for the kick.
Gerry Dulac
10:08
The center isn't always the best option to long-snap. Just ask Dermontti Dawson. He didn't like to do it because he couldn't do it very well.

Thanks for the chat.  It was a crazy game against the Bengals!  What was your biggest takeaway from the team that is different from what you thought before the first game?
Gerry Dulac
10:09
Defense, particularly the secondary, was better than I thought against that offense
Tim
10:09
Didn’t the Steelers impose a rule on post game phone videos after HCMT was caught on the audio making predictions that made great bulletin board material a few years back?  Now i see him dancing after a victory.  Come on coach.  Love the victory, celebrate w your team, but turn off the damn phones.
Gerry Dulac
10:11
That was because Antonio Brown was filming the post-game speech, which he is not supposed to do. It's not Tomlin. And there is nothing wrong with the head coach having fun with his players. Nothing

10:11
Hi Gerry-  If 22 is a no go on Sunday does 26 get called up?  If that is the case who gets more snaps on offense 26 or 24?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
Don't hold your breath. And, if that happens, why would a practice squad player get more reps than a roster guy?? That's why he's on the practice squad.
Steeltown

Gerry, given that we didn’t see anything much different than what the Steelers did with Rothlisberger last year, it is hard not to imagine how the outcome may have been different had Ben been under center. With five turnovers, I think we win fairly comfortably. Where were those nice slants to DJ over the middle of the field that we got used to seeing?  It was time for Ben to go, no question, but I expected to see a much different offense in week one and didn’t. Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:13
It's one game and they won because of two plays Trubisky made. Those are my thoughts

10:13
Hi Gerry how would you evaluate the drafting over the past ten years? It seems as though the overall talent on the roster year to year is slipping and the teams finds itself in need of more and more emergency stop-gap players. What is your take, Sir?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
Jarvis Jones. Artie Burns. Terrell Edmunds. Devin Bush. You decide
Yates
10:14
Gerry-  I think talent level is better on O and D and Special Teams this year. I think most people would agree yet at the same time predict worse record than last year. Strength of division or was last year a fluke?
Gerry Dulac
10:15
We shall see, but I think the team is better this year than last year

10:15
Please explain to me the offense. Philosophy I just don’t understand what Matt Canada is trying to do. All these weapons and the never seemed to be used to their potential.
Gerry Dulac
10:15
It was one game. Give it some more time. Then we can all scream and yell
Alex B
10:15
The inability to run the ball has seems to be a problem one again  this season is it scheme or  talent or both ? I do know the are adjusting to another oline coach which could also very well be the problem , how many have they had since Munxhak left
Gerry Dulac
10:16
It must be both. Did anyone see how Tampa Bay moved people off the ball the other night in Dallas? Leonard Fournette could run downhill for 4 or 5 yards before anyone even waved at him
The Dude
10:18
Seems to me that for a quarterback to pile up the yardage, keep drives alive, and of course score points,  yards after catch are critical. Is there anything in Canada’s offense not yet evident last year or this that would provide hope?
Gerry Dulac
10:18
Copy and paste -- give it time. It was just one game. Let's see what happens
Jay
10:18
Hello Gerry.  Robert Spillane was in there as the long linebacker on many 3rd and longs.  Dale classified that as he's the best zone coverage linebacker.   In what ways is he better in coverage than Jack or Bush?  I'm puzzled.
Gerry Dulac
10:19
Actually, he's really not better. But maybe what he meant was Spillane is better in zone coverage than man coverage.
Steeltown
10:19
Gerry, Given the struggles that Trubisky had last week, if he doesn’t improve quick, I would be in favor of handing the ball over to Pickett. Many teams recently have been successful starting these quarterbacks right out of the gate, and Pickett is arguably more experienced and mature than some of those quarterbacks. I don’t see any reason to wait, if Trubisky is not lighting it up. Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:19
l'll let them know
Bill
10:20
Mitch Trubisky was exposed as an average quarterback, not better than Mason Rudolph. Alot of inaccurate throws with a little scramble ability is not better than Kenny Pickett either. Do you see Tomlin sticking with Trubisky with this kind of performance?
Gerry Dulac
10:21
Little scramble ability? You musta been watching video from last year.

Good morning Mr. Dulac!  I saw a quote, today, made by HCMT, whereby he said that QBMT played a very good game, Sunday. I think that Mr. T is delusional.  I hereby submit this for your requested comments. TY.
Gerry Dulac
10:22
Kevin, thanx. Hey, who am I to argue with the head coach?? But, in case any of you Kenny Pickett fans haven't noticed, this guy you refer to as QBMT hasn't turned the ball over in four games. Ask Joe Burrow what happens when you turn it over....
John

Hi Gerry. Congrats on picking the correct score of the game with your picks.                                                       What's the line on this game, it was teetering.
