OK kids, we will start our chat in just a couple minutes....

OK, let's get started...fire away

Is it getting clearer now why the Steelers have "hostages"? Isn't it absurd that they alienate our top FA and highest draft pick?
Gerry Dulac
10:00
I'm not sure I follow...
Tom
10:01
Has Harris ever broken or even made a guy miss at the line of scrimmage?
Gerry Dulac
10:01
Well, because you asked, I will point up he had 8 runs of at least 20 yards last season, which was tied for fourth most in the league
Cone
10:01
Do You feel Patrick Queen has underperformed thus far?
Gerry Dulac
10:02
No. Its only two games and I'm not sure what everyone is expecting.

10:02
What would be the ideal starting offensive line, if all players played up to their pedigree?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
Left to right on your radio dial -- Moore, Seumalo, Frazier, Fautanu, Jones
Buckeye Phil
10:04
Thru 2 weeks, Harbaugh has the chargers running the ball as well and as frequent as anyone else in the leavue
Gerry Dulac
10:05
Actually, the Steelers run the ball more frequently than any team in the league (77 attempts), but that's mostly because Fields has run 21 times. But the Chargers are averaging 5.6 yards per attempts, 4th best in the league and two yards more than the Steelers

Good morning, Gerry.  Far too early for most speculation and deep thoughts but it 'feels' like both situational play calling (excepting one horrendous end-around call) and clock management have been better through two games than just about any two games in 2023.  Observational or rosey glasses?
Gerry Dulac
10:06
That's an early observation from your tower
Buckeye Phil
10:06
harbaugh has the chargers running the ball as often and as well as anyone in the league right now.  Do we see more of E. Roberts this week instead of Wilson?  Would the Steelers consider even dressing an extra d-lineman to combat the running game?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
Ahh, I see your first attempt didn't include your question. They won't dress an extra DL, but you might see Roberts more than Wilson in this one. They have pretty much split the snaps right down the middle in the first two games, with Wilson play one more snap more than Roberts in each game

Why did the Steelers ever let Corliss Waitman become  a free agent?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
Let's hold on a bit -- that game was in Denver's rarified air
Wild Bill

Fields had a couple of passing plays where nothing was open but he did take off running or ran to late and lost yards. If the Steelers play ultra conservative Tomlin ball, isn't it a must that Fields run as soon as his first maybe second read isn't there? They have to know to coach him this way since they won't pick up 3rd and longs, right?
Gerry Dulac
10:09
I think it's apparent they are coaching him that way. But I will also point up he played that way in Chicago, too.

Morning Gerry, How much of B. Jones early struggles might be because of an elbow injury?
Gerry Dulac
10:10
He doesn't use it as an excuse so I won't either. But there's no way that bulky elbow brace doesn't affect your reach or ability to play the way you like
Sam
10:10
Gerry, is it possible the Steelers are about to witness the team they wish they were?  Granted LAC 2 wins aren’t against a particularly impressive schedule either, but they seem to have a strong enough defense coupled with a better running game than PIT and a QB who can actually make his mediocre pass catchers better.
Gerry Dulac
10:11
You raise a good point, Sam

With OC Smith's emphasis on the running game, wouldn't be prudent to have a fullback as the lead blocker?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
Perhaps. We have seen him line one of a few occasions, though not many. Thought we might see it more after what we saw in training camp
Tom in TN
10:13
Gerry, the offense through 2 games is a little worrisome and I know it’s early but if this offense found itself behind in a game could they score quickly?  Do you think Wilson, when healthy makes any difference?
Gerry Dulac
10:13
I think that's what we're going to find out Sunday. And, yes, I do
X Yunzer
10:13
Thanks for the chats Gerry.  Haven't seen alot from Patrick Queen thus far.  Is he playing well just not getting stats?  Not comfortable in the defense yet?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
I'm sure it takes a little time for Queen to get comfortable with the defense and the players around him. I thought he played a lot faster in Denver. I wouldn't worry about PQ

Good morning Gerry.  Please assess Justin Fields’ performance thus far.  The offense really struggled in the second half against the Broncos and all those penalties surely didn’t help him.  It seems he may not be capable of helping them overcome negative plays.
Gerry Dulac
10:16
He has not proven to be that type of QB in the past, a guy who is going to bring his team from behind. That's why the Steelers don't want him turning the ball over.
I’m not Gerry
10:16
GM Gerry, the Broncos are a team in transition that’s not very good. Did OC Smith miss a golden opportunity to put Fields in more risky opportunities to see what he truly has in his QB. I really doubt we could have lost that game regardless.
Gerry Dulac
10:17
I don't think they were shielding him a lot in Denver. In fact, in the second half, they had him keep throwing, even though it was 10-0 at half and then 13-0 in the third. He just wasn't very good
John from Toronto
10:18
Hi Gerry. Do we have a legitimate QB controversy brewing? Or is Russ Wilson the starter when he gets healthy? Fields has played okay, but the offense lacks the explosiveness and big play potential it needs to compete at an elite level.
Gerry Dulac
10:18
No and yes John. And you are correct. That has never been the case with Fields before. It has been with Wilson

10:18
Are you hearing of any plans to improve the wide receivers group via trade?  I’m not sure we can expect much from Roman Wilson when he returns.
Gerry Dulac
10:21
The trade deadline has been pushed back a week this year, ironically enough, thanks to the Steelers. They were the ones who proposed it. What does that have to do with a possible trade. Well, probably nothing, but I thought I'd just let you know. As for Roman Wilson, don't hold your breath. He missed the entire preseason -- not good for a rookie.
John from Toronto
10:21
DeMarvin Leal seemed to have a strong camp and pre-season, but he's only played 9 snaps in 2 games. Loudermilk is getting more reps than him. What gives?
Gerry Dulac
10:22
I'm not sure. I liked what I saw from Leal in camp and the preseason. I'll find out for ya
