I did. I missed on the Steelers. Predicted 20-16. And I was 9-7 overall. Shockingly, I missed on the Ravens and Browns too

Record this year with Matt Canada as offensive coordinator for the entire season? Record this year with someone other than Matt Canada as offensive coordinator for the remainder of the season?   Just for fun of course.

Just for fun? 9-7 with. 9-7 without

Gerry if the no huddle was successful in the Steelers only offensive TD, much like with Ben's audibles/changes last year, one can assume that the OC play calling is ineffective?
Gerry Dulac
10:48
I will point up it was not the no-huddle. It was a hurry-up offense, a two-minute, which is completely different from a no-huddle where a QB has the entire playbook at his disposal and is basically calling all his own plays. In a two-minute offense, a quarterback has one or two formations and 8 or 9 scripted plays called by the coordinator.

How worrisome was the apparent discontent in the offensive huddle in only the second game?
Gerry Dulac
10:49
I don't know worrisome, but they need someone like Heath Miller, who once told Antonio Brown in the huddle, "Shut the (bleep) up!" Even AB was shocked by that.

Gerry, I’ve been concerned since day 1 that Najee Harris doesn’t seem to have the vision other great backs have. I love his toughness, but. his inability to see the hole keepa him from being special. I’m afraid we overreached on this pick, what say you?
Gerry Dulac
10:52
It wasn't an over-reach...Najee is a special talent. But he needs to use his greatest advantage -- his size, speed and power -- by hitting the hole and running downhill. Every time he slows, hesitates or looks to bounce the run outside and try to make a big play, he negates the advantage he has.

Hi G! Please safe my sanity! Two vastly different veteran QBs can't seem to score over the span of 20 games when the same OC calls the plays. The same QBs almost automatically score as soon as they call the shots in no huddle/2 minute. Yet, after a lenghty off- and preseason, the newly signed veteran QB is not allowed to audible 2 games into the regular season, well sure, since the 18 year HOF bound 2 time SB champ wasn't allowed either...now to my question: What on earth is MikeTomlin seeing in Matt Canada, that the rest of the world is missing? Help me out here, please!

I wish I could. You asked the same questions I have. I'm willing to be patient and give it a chance, but the plan and attack is no different than last year.

Surprised that Joe Haden elected to retire with a team that cut him?

A bit.

Gerry.  Great observation you mentioned earlier this week regarding Tampa.   Seeing O lineman actually 3 to 4 yards beyond the line of scrimmage blocking on a run play.  Chicago was too. Maybe there s a reason They let Daniels walk?  Not saying its his fault. I haven't seen a Steelers game in the past 3 years with anything close to that.

Charlie, saw the same thing with the Packers -- and the Bears -- Monday night. OLinemen getting to the second level quickly. Wow, what a concept

Gerry, any chance we see Trubisky benched or Matt Canada demoted if the offense continues to put up minimal points, or is Tomlin’s plan to just go down with the sinking ship?
Gerry Dulac
10:55
Joe, nobody is going down with a sinking ship. They are 1-1. Plenty of time to get things working. Not saying they will, but, as Dick LeBeau once said, "I've seen sicker dogs than this get well in a hurry."

Hello Gerry . Thank you as always for the chat . In the interest of full disclosure , I am no Trubisky fan since I do not think he has paid his dues for the job he is selected for  , unlike Rudolph who has waited patiently for his chance and has been most consistent of all QBs, as per you . But I digress . I just find it interesting that Trubisky had accuracy issues coming out of NC . Yet somehow it was all Nagy’s fault that he did not use him the correct way while in Chicago , at least as per ESPN heads . Now it’s all Canada’s fault . When would it be Trubisky’s fault ? When you stare your receiver all the way before throwing an interception, it’s your fault . Why should you be trusted with calling audibles and calling your plays  when you have done nothing to earn the trust of coaching staff ? Thank you very much .
Gerry Dulac

Extremely fair observation. And not about to say you are incorrect. But you have to give a veteran QB the freedom to call audibles, tho I get it -- he's new and he has a lot of young players who are not adept at that yet.

Do u think the quick short passes are because Mitch and/or Matt don't trust the o line?  And has the lack of a running game which could be blamed on subpar blocking made them one dimensional?  Love your chats

Gee, didn't I hear the same questions last year? The EXACT same questions, even though the AQB, offensive line and receivers have changed???

A few weeks ago you insisted Green would start at LG. Assume that came from a source. When that happens and it turns out to be wrong how do you handle those sources (continue to trust, drop them, talk to them about, etc)?
Gerry Dulac

He did it to himself. I said tha before the Jax game and he played himself out of a starting spot with that performance.

Najee looks so ordinary behind this poor offensive line.  What a shame for such a talented player who should be one of the faces of this proud franchise now and for years to come.

How involved is Tomlin in play selection on game day?  Does Canada primarily design and call plays and Tomlin simply approves the game plan or is he more prescriptive during the game and potentially overruling plays Canada calls. Fans are quick to blame Canada but trying to understand the degree that he's unleashed or leashed.
Gerry Dulac

On game day, not a lot. Not the defense. During the week, he is involved in the offensive game plan, of course. But not like with defense.
OK kids, we're out of time. Thanx for all the questions.
