Why hasn't much been said about the poor clock management in the LV game? Two wasted 2nd half timeouts that they could have use in the end and an  inexplicable short kickoff that allowed more time to tick off the clock. IMO that is just inexcusable for a professional football team

There....it's been said.

So what's the short list of Quarterbacks and 8-8 (Optimistic) season might put the Steelers in line to draft?  Does the 2022 class have any depth?  If 'm putting together a realistic list of QBS the Steelers might be able to draft, who should I be watching?
Gerry Dulac
11:47
You go right ahead and look at the 2022 draft class of QBs. I'll wait until April

The SNF game with Mahomes and LJ was a clear indicator of how far behind the times the Steelers offense truly is.  Pgh has no QB run option (not even a sneak), no play action, no screens etc.  they’re back to Ben in shotgun throwing 3 yard passes into double covers on 3rd and 9.  I don’t see how this offense improves until they move on from Ben.  Ben has played 2 good halves in his last 8 games.  What can they do to salvage this season?
Gerry Dulac
11:48
They are 1-1, just like the two teams/QBs you referenced. Salvage is not the applicable word

Ben has always been mediocre in the first 2-3 games every year.  Lack of preseason play with the  first team rears it's ugly head at Ben. He struggles, blames himself, vows to get better and does by the 4th game, always. Keep the popcorn poppin because, this is where it starts to get warmed up.

The NFL trading deadline is the first week of November. Why don’t more teams make player for player trades to fill their respective needs in the first month or two of the season? For example, if a team had an excess of good DLs and needed a WR, the Steelers might want to trade now.

Getting Taco Charlton seems to indicate a long term injury issue for either Watt or Highsmith, right?
Gerry Dulac
11:50
This answer goes with the previous question......The Steelers are not making any more trades unless there is a significant injury/injuries, and even then I'm not sure they will.
11:51
As for Taco question, no it doesn't

is Charlton better than Mondeaux and if so, why was he 'on the street' (if i understand correctly)? thanks!
Gerry Dulac
11:52
First off, they are are different players. Taco is an edge rusher. And, yes, there is a reason he was on the street. He has played with three teams in four years.

When TJ knocked the ball loose from Carr on Sunday, it sure looked like the Steelers had a clear recovery before the pile started. Is that something Tomlin could have challenged? I know all turnovers are reviewed, but that wouldn't have been automatically reviewed, right?
Gerry Dulac
11:52
I know it looked that way, but apparently that wasn't the case. None of the Steelers were arguing the call.

Hi Gerry.  Last week I was one of the concerned fans who had doubts about the offense.  Now injuries have decimated the defense, and they have a tough schedule.  Do you feel optimistic at all that things will turn around before it's too late?
Gerry Dulac
11:54
I'm certain there are 15 more games in the season and I'm not going to predict their fate after two games. I don't get optimistic or pessimistic.

Watching teams like the Chiefs, Packers and Ravens their receivers always seem to get lots of separation, but the Steelers receivers don’t. Is this a personnel or scheme problem?
Gerry Dulac
11:56
Depends on the receivers to which you are referring. Do the Steelers have a receiver who can separate like Antonio Brown? No. Could they use one? Yes. Diontae Johnson is the best as gaining separation...if he runs the right route.

Hey Gerry! Hope all is well! Do you agree that we should use Derek watt more in the offense?
Gerry Dulac
11:58
I'm not one to scream and yell and say you need to use a fullback more. But he is the second-highest paid FB in the league (per annual salary), a lot of money to pay a guy who has played four snaps in two games -- and none against the Raiders. When you're running game is last in the league, maybe time to try something different. Maybe Harris would like a lead blocker.

Hi Gerry...thanks for the chat. I always joked about this guy....with all the injuries to the DL, should the Steelers call up that defensive juggernaut they kept forever but finally released...."Big Dan" McCullers? (I know they signed Taco Charlton instead...haha).
Gerry Dulac
11:59
I think you used the correct word -- joke

Since the bad football started versus Washington last December Ben has had one good half vs the Colts.  When is it time to admit his “I have to play better” quote is now the norm?  He is slow, inaccurate and predicable. Time to play Mason and see what we’ve got.

Everyone wants to seem to blame Dan about the offense but it seems he has no time to throw and when he does there's a lot of time when his receivers should make these caches! Not a question but a comment
Gerry Dulac
12:00
I know you mean Ben, but some of that will be cured if they can run the ball productivity and be able to use play action
12:01
Ok, five more, all one-word answers....

Is it time to say we are in rebuild mode . Next year 2 recivers are gone , JUJu, and Washington, safety Edmunds needs to go. Need lineman who doesn't get Bull rushed all over  field. And Ben was great in his time but its over, he has been the reason the Steelers was the Steelers we know and love, but its getting painful to watch. We need a new young mobil Qb who can throw on the run.

So far, the only time I remember seeing Minkah Fitzpatrick was laying face down on the Heinz Field turf after getting torched last Sunday. Have I missed anything?

Plenty

How much do you think Fitzpatrick will demand in a new deal?  Can the Steelers afford two gigantic  2nd contracts?  Watt and Fitzpatrick.

Any updates on Ben's injury? Even if he plays do you expect more of a commitment to the running game? Or at the least an attempt to run it more?
Gerry Dulac
12:05
Yes

Hey Gerry…so Ben said he doesn’t have the no-huddle offense to run, but Tomlin said they DO have the no-huddle offense.  Who is telling the truth, and why is the other one lying?
Gerry Dulac
12:05
Hmmmm....
Ok kids, that's all today. See you next week
