I'm fine with the trade.
Steelmann58
10:17
Hi Gerry should we be concerned about the lack of a running game and the OL?
Gerry Dulac
10:18
I was concerned (though I don't get concerned really) about the running game before the season. I'm willing to give it time but I don't think you should expect better results than what you saw the previous two seasons.

When do the steelers employ the tush push ? And will they use one of the TEs ?
Gerry Dulac
10:18
They don't
Steelmann58
10:19
hi Gerry just curious if Helbig continues to shine could it make Highsmith a trade candidate ?
Gerry Dulac
10:21
Possibly because Highsmith has trade value. But they are two different players. Herbig cannot set the edge and support the run as well as Highsmith. But he is faster off the edge to the quarterback. Don't under-sell Highsmith, though. He was the best pass-rusher in NY

10:21
Hi Gerry what effect is Pat Meyers having on this OL
Gerry Dulac
10:21
You mean positive or negative?
TVC15
10:21
I thought the Steelers maybe had a chance of beating the Vikings in Ireland if the vastly overrated J.J. McCarthy played but I fear a playoff type blown out by halftime scenario against Carson Wentz.  Am I wrong?
Gerry Dulac
10:22
Are you sure you have the correct vastly overrated quarterback??
Bill in LA
10:22
Do you think Art Rooney should require Mike Tomlin to hire a defensive coordinator who will run the defense, rather than one who is okay with letting Tomlin do his job for him?
Gerry Dulac
10:22
He would just have that DC do the same thing -- run his defense
Bill in LA
10:22
Because most stars are held back during the pre-season, I think September is the new pre-season. So any club that finishes 2-2 is in good shape for the season. You just don't want to be 1-3 or 0-4. Do you agree?
Gerry Dulac
10:23
Correct. It's early. You don't want to be playing great in September. Better to do that in December when it really matters.

Reminder: there is an inter-relationship between the success of the office and the success of the defense. If the offense can’t sustain drives and use clock time, it means the defense has to spend a lot more time on the field, and it’s likely to be giving up more yardage to the opponent as a result. Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:24
That is just as true as the defense spending too much time on the field and the offense getting out of rhythm on the bench, which is what Aaron Rodgers said what happened in NE
Andrew Poni
10:24
Gerry, the Steelers are one of the worst teams in the NFL dating back to last year on 3rd and long. Is it scheme or players?
Gerry Dulac
10:24
I haven't seen that stat.
TVC15
10:24
Who will have more fans at Croke Park, Dublin, Ireland?  Steelers or Vikes?
Gerry Dulac
10:25
That's an easy one. I think half of Pittsburgh is going to the game.
Andrew Poni
10:25
Gerry, do you think it’s a done deal that HCMT gets another extension,
Gerry Dulac
10:25
That's up to MT
Tom M.
10:26
Lots of fumbles by the Jets.  I know some of their guys have a history of that but do you think the fumbles were a result of good defensive plays by the Steelers or just incompetence by the Jets?
Gerry Dulac
10:26
Do you mean the Patriots?
Kris Muller
10:26
Fair to say that Cole Holcomb has earned more snaps at the expense of 41?
Gerry Dulac
10:26
No. Depends on the game plan and the scheme they are facing
Pittfan
10:26
Hi Gerry. I envy the teams who seem to be able to get players open in the passing game. One of Arthur Smith's failures in Atlanta was his inability to scheme up ways to get his playmakers the ball. I'm seeing signs of that here. What do you see?
Gerry Dulac
10:27
I'm seeing not enough targets for their best receivers -- 4, 19 and 88
Kris Muller
10:27
Do the players loathe these International games?
Gerry Dulac
10:28
Probably, because the travel in a short period of time isn't the best thing
Bill in LA
10:28
Against the Bill's, Justin Fields went 3-11 with 2 fumbles and got injured running. He was out this week. That's the real Justin Fields from the Chicago years. And the Steelers wanted to make him their starter this year. I am beginning to think the Steelers are just not very smart when it comes to evaluating quarterbacks. Would you agree?
Gerry Dulac
10:29
Nobody who matters ever said the Steelers wanted to make him their starter this year. Only fans and the misinformed said that. If they did, they wouldn't have just let him go test the free-agent market
Andrew Poni
10:29
The Steelers have a cheat code with Darnell Washington yet refuse to use him in the RedZone other than one 2 point conversion. Why?
Gerry Dulac
10:29
I'm not sure what that code is

I know Kaleb made a mistake in Special Teams…not one I believe he would make again but they have removed him from that duty nonetheless.  I don’t understand the exclusion from the offense completely.  Is he truly that deep in the doghouse or have the decided to run Jalen & Kenneth for time being to keep Kaleb reserved as a set of fresh legs as we move later into season.  He seems like a talented back they used a 3rd rd pick on (the Steelers 2nd draft pick behind Harmon).   Is the kick return mistake the only one the public knows about?  Are there other issues? Just trying to understand his non involvement at the moment.
Gerry Dulac
10:31
He is not in any doghouse, even though he didn't get in for a play in NE. But he appeared for only two plays in each of the first two games, so whatever their approach is with No. 20 in their offense it doesn't have to do with the kickoff gaffe
AK
10:31
Why aren't the Steelers throwing the ball down the field to Metcalf?
Gerry Dulac
10:31
I'll ask 'em
Tom M.

What’s your opinion of Drake Maye?  I know he had some mistakes but does he have the making of a true franchise QB?
