OK kids, we're going to start in just a few so get ready....
9:57
OK, here we go....

what is the Steelers' record when Cam Heyward is out with injury? thanks
Gerry Dulac
9:58
Well, I just looked it up and since becoming a starter, the Steelers are 9-3 when Heyward is inactive or on injured reserve.
Q
9:58
Will Trubisky be traded to the Jets ?
Gerry Dulac
9:58
No.
Rocky,

Hi Gerry,  do you think Austin will be used more now that Canada knows what he can do?  So far he's hardly been targeted much this year.  Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
10:00
I think that would only be natural. But it's not exactly like he hasn't been playing. Austin was in for 45 snaps in LV (73 percent) and was targeted six times, tied for most on the team.

Gerry, the Raiders game was the first time that I saw MC put his QB and receivers in a position for wide open plays. Is MC capable of doing this moving forwards? Not asking for MIA or SF but c’mon.
Gerry Dulac
10:02
Give him credit for getting Pickett out of the pocket and moving him around like that. But I think underlying all that is going back to a more conservative, mistake-proof attack where KP isn't sitting in the pocket and forcing throws into the middle of the field all the time.

Gerry, do you agree with the talk about Warren being better option than Harris?  I think Harris stats are skewed by playing on more obvoius running downs compared to Warren.  Thoughts here?
Gerry Dulac
10:04
I'll tell you what else gets lost in the conversation -- opposing defenses plan and scheme to stop Harris. He's a red-number guy in the other team's practices. Warren is not. Warren is not a better option, but he's a good option, especially in pass situations, both as a protector and receiver.

The O'Line was hyped up in the pre-season.  They have not lived up to that.  Do you think they have the talent to gel and progress as the season goes like Tomlin is preaching about getting better?
Gerry Dulac
10:04
I do. I have to think they will be better. They were the other night in Vegas. But I agree, they have not lived up to what I think we all expected so far
Q
10:04
Will Tomlin ever hire a quality coach in the skill set of Mike Munchak ?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
My favorite answer that fits just about any question -- time will tell.
Bill
10:05
Why was Cam Heyward on the sidelines at the Las Vegas game? Since when did injured players travel with the team
Gerry Dulac
10:06
Since he was Cam Heyward. The defensive captain. Leader of the team. The alpha dog. Why would you leave him home?
Owen
10:06
When might we see Darnell get some targets
Gerry Dulac
10:06
I'm thinking soon. I'm surprised we haven't seen any.
No more jet sweeps
10:06
I continue to believe Canada needs to go. Still not enough creativity in the passing game. One win does not fox the horrendous offensive production. What would need to happen for Canada to be dismissed?
Gerry Dulac
10:07
For the season to be over.
Bill
10:08
What exactly have the Steelers gotten in return from Gunner Olszewski for 2 years and $ 4 million dollars other than two muffed punt catches, one bonehead kickoff return catch and a few jet sweeps for zero yards? Should the Steelers just release him to save some money?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
They would save only $617k, but I get your point

During the Sunday NBC broadcast, there was much talk (and video) about how the Steelers had changed their O Line run blocking scheme....going from zone blocking to double teams.   Was this correct?  Is it normal that the type of blocking changes from play to play, game to game or is it more normal for a team to have a single , consistent approach?   Thanks
Gerry Dulac
10:10
Actually, the Steelers changed their blocking scheme last year, going from more man blocking to zone blocking and double teams. But they still do a little of both during a game
Bill
10:10
I noticed that the Steelers didn’t seem to miss Cam Heyward or Dionte Johnson in the Raiders game. What does this say about their talent and their $ 40 million in salaries?
Gerry Dulac
10:10
It says, imagine how much better they would be if they were playing????
Bill

Several Chase Claypool questions: 1) Why does he think he’s a top 3 receiver in the NFL?, 2) Why does Claypool jump horizontally instead of vertically when a ball comes his way?, 3) Why are the Steelers and Bears record from 2022-2023 with Claypool 2 wins and 19 losses?, 4) Will Claypool get a contract after 2023 and for about how much?, and 5) What in your opinion were Claypool’s biggest shortcomings with the Steelers that caused them to trade him?
Gerry Dulac
10:11
All those things you mentioned

10:11
Hi Gerry! Thanks for the chats! I would like your opinion on 1) the penalty call that took away a sack, 2) the penalty on Pickens that negated a run inside the five yard line, and 3) the penalty call that gave the Raiders a first down on their field goal attempt. All terrible? Any legitimate?
Gerry Dulac
10:13
Yeah, they were all legit. Leal used the center for leverage on the FG; Pickens was lined illegally; and Minkah's helmet hit Jimmy G above the neck. Now, you might want to argue they were a little ticky-tack, but they were all penalties.

Good morning Gerry.  A good OC not only designs and calls good plays, but also help a young QB develop good mental picture how NFL defenses work and how to counter.   Matt Canada doesn't even have shown consistent success in his 4 years, I am afraid we wasted 2 years of Kenny already.
Gerry Dulac
10:16
Well, I think I need to point up that Pickett has even started a full season of games yet. He has two more to go to reach 17, and he has 14 more to go (hopefully) in his second year. So he has not wasted two years. I'm willing to give it more time, but no more beyond this season.

Hey Gerry! I really liked what I saw from Keanu Benton last week. Is the plan for him to be Cam Heyward’s successor? If so, when Cam returns and plays for maybe a couple more years, how does Benton factor in to the D line?
Gerry Dulac
10:16
I think Keeanu Benton is going to be a big-time player. But he is a different type of player than Cam. Nonetheless, if people haven't realized this by now, shame on them -- the Steelers HAVE to draft Cam's replacement this year. They need a Pro Bowl, dominating-type D-lineman in the first round. One is not enough. The best D-lines have two or three of these kind of guys. Don't wait another year.

Loving Harvin's new punting prowess! So, what suddenly changed? Did he finally figure it out himself or was some technique mistake was spotted by a coach? More importantly, do you think he has finally turned the corner?
Gerry Dulac
10:20
Nothing has changed, not that I'm aware of, but I'll ask him anyway. As for turning the corner, let's check back after another game or two. But that was his best game, no question

10:20
Please educate me. Is it a big deal that the OC and QB are meeting daily? Have past Steeler OCs and QBs done this? How often do other teams OCs and QBs meet? Thank you
Gerry Dulac
10:20
Not it's not. They do it all the time. They game-plan together.
