Gerry, why does the National media continue to fawn over Mike Tomlin as if he is the second coming of Vince Lombardi? Do they not realize his team has been mediocre for at least the past 7 years? Shouldn't actual results matter when evaluating a HC?
Gerry Dulac
10:21
You are astute to note it's the national media

Gerry Why didn’t Fitzpatrick Play Instead Of King on Sunday they could have Used Him and also why didn’t The Guy we signed from The Chargers didn’t dress go Steelers
Gerry Dulac
10:22
Uh, better go watch the replay. And the guy from the Chargers didn't dress because they already have two nose-tackle types ahead of him -- Keeanu Benton and Montravius Adams.

Kudos to Canada for making some adjustments, but they still had just an average offensive game against a bad defense. He may have received more blame than he should in the first two weeks, but not convinced he is even an avg OC.  How would you rank him?
Gerry Dulac
10:23
It was just one game against an average defense. And it's not like they had four TDs and scored 38 points. But it was more baby steps in the right direction. It was better than what we've been seeing, which isn't exactly heaping high praise.

Gerry should we be worried that Broderick jones isn’t playing yet ? If he’s worse then Dan moore we have a big problem
Gerry Dulac
10:24
Not yet. Give it a couple more games.

Hello Gerry.  Do you think its possible someone like Jason Garrett would be interested in the steelers OC job?  Do you think Tomlin would allow someone like that to have major control?
Gerry Dulac
10:25
I think the Steelers OC has more autonomy than the Steelers DC because Tomlin is HEAVILY involved in the defensive planning and play-calling. Next time I talk to Jason Garrett, I'll ask him

Collinsworth pointed out that the Steelers abandoned their zone run schemes and played more power football on Sunday.  Is it common for a team to use both types of blocking in their offense?  I always thought zone teams were zone teams.
Gerry Dulac
10:26
As I said to earlier question, the Steelers do both. It is not uncommon to adjust to what type of defense they are facing.

Is the fact that we dont see creative plays like the chiefs and dolphins (no look shovel pass) because of our Coaches not able to design them or players not able to execute them?
Gerry Dulac
10:27
It's a little both. You can't play a certain system if you don't have the right players to fit that system. Also, you're referencing two QBs who have been around a whole lot longer than KP

There had been some reporting that it was good to see Freiermuth and Pickens show up. If the ball is thrown to them but, it's not catchable like in the first couple games is it them not showing up or the QB not delivering?
Gerry Dulac
10:30
If it's not catchable, then it can't be their fault, eh? And it's not a matter of the players "showing up." It's a matter of the QB finding them and delivering to them.

Why have we not seen our first round pick playing yet …Dan moore is terrible
Gerry Dulac
10:32
That seems to be a popular question, but a good one.

The results were a bit better - but I think Kenny still looks skittish. You think he's worried about concussions?
Gerry Dulac
10:34
No, I don't think that's an issue at all. Hey, you're going to look a little skittish when you know 98 is hunting you down. But they handled that by rolling him away from Maxx Crosby

I am amazed when I see other teams WR wide open. I never see Steelers WRs wide open... except on occasion when our QB scrambles. Is our scheme so poor or predictable ?
Gerry Dulac
10:35
It's not always the scheme. Sometimes, maybe most times, it's the receivers. Diontae Johnson gets open because he's very good coming out of his breaks.

Hi Gerry, Why don't the Steelers use the "Push Scrum" play that some teams are using (Philly) to try and pick up the first downs/TD's in short yardage plays? Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
10:36
They actually did on a third-and-1 play in Vegas. Better than having their non-read-option QB try the read option on that awful third-and-1 call against the Browns.

I love how the Steelers played with confidence and motivation against the Las Vegas Raiders! What happened to turn that around?
Gerry Dulac
10:37
Confidence is a better word.

Gerry, CJ Stroud is not your average rookie QB. Sunday is going to be as big a test for the D as the O. Need consistent 4 man pass rush. Agree?
Gerry Dulac
10:38
So far, he hasn't been. Yes, they will need a push, but usually teams try to confuse rookie QBs with different looks. I expect more of that

Hi Gerry- who schemes the running game? Is that Canada as well?
Gerry Dulac
10:39
Pat Meyer, the O-line coach, does a lot of the run-play stuff. But he doesn't call the plays or the formations

10:39
Is it time to admit using a first round pick on Najee was a mistake?
Gerry Dulac
10:40
I wouldn't call it a mistake at all. He has had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons his first 2 years. Let's wait and see. But the offense does not revolve around him, which is what the Steelers hoped for when they drafted him. Personally, I never thought it should

Hi Gerry, I know it's hard to follow in the footsteps of a HOF QB in Ben, but with KP I still haven't seen that 'IT' factor. With Ben you knew right away when he stepped on the field he would make a difference. I mean case in point the 2005 playoffs the Steelers don't make the Super Bowl without Ben, and then in 2008 they don't win without Ben. Not saying KP can't be that guy I just haven't seen him be that much of a difference. Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:42
I think you usually know right away who is special. Yeah, it's tough to follow a HOF QB, let alone unfair to compare the two or even project he can be that guy.

Hi Gerry, didn't Mike Tomlin basically admit that the only qb that was allowed to audible at the LOS was Ben a few years back. And that was only after half time? No wonder he had alot of comeback wins his last 2 years..
Gerry Dulac
10:46
I'm not sure when he admitted that, but since Matt Canada has been the coordinator he doesn't want his QBs calling audibles at the line. That was the most preposterous thing I ever heard of when Ben was the QB in Canada's first year as OC. Imagine thinking you know better than an 18-year, two-time Super Bowl-winning, future HOF QB??? And Ben had those comebacks wins when he effectively shut off the radio helmet and called his own plays.

Gerry!  I hope the PG gave you a gold pin for your milestone Sunday!  Congrats on covering the Steelers in EVERY NFL CITY…and then some!

Gerry, I share a dislike with you, that is, I think that national rankings for NFL players are all BS.  PFF gave Moore 3 1/2 points (out of 100) for his pass blocking in game 1 or 2.  He has allowed 1 (yes one) sack in three games, while fighting off Bosa, Garrett, and Crosby.  Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac

I'm not a big fan of their ratings. Check out the crap this week about TJ Watt's performance in Vegas. Unbelievable
