Some say that as soon as Rudolph came into the game Monday you could hear Bill in LA begin typing…

Gerry - who will be the starting O line this Sunday? Will Warren and/or Patterson be back?  Do you think the Steelers can get their run game going - seems like Dallas matches up poorly against teams who want a run heavy game plan.
Gerry Dulac
10:17
Well I think it will be Moore, Seumalo, Frazier, McCormick and Jones. I won't know about Warren or Patterson until I see practice today and tomorrow.

Davante Adams rumors are flying around but something tells me the Steelers are not going to attack a trade for him as much as other teams [e.g. Jets] I think they'll certainly inquire but I feel like they do not want to get into a bidding war for a 31 year old with a STEALTHY contract. (however his talent would be very beneficial for the team)
Gerry Dulac
10:18
Yes, his talent would be a welcome addition. Not sure about his contract

Gerry, how much do you rely on Mike Tomlin post game comments or press conference quotes to gain insights into future team moves? I have come to the conclusion it is not helpful to listen to the, but rather  to use his history to predict future decisions.
Gerry Dulac
10:19
I hate to tell you -- none.  But, yes, his history is a better indication.

Hi Gerry, if you were the Steelers GM, who would you rather have as your quarterback: Justin Fields or Mason Rudolph? I'll take your answer off the air.
Gerry Dulac
10:19
I have no problems with Mason Rudolph.

Hi Gerry…How do you explain 22 constantly being tackled in the backfield or held to one and 2 yard gains, and then other backs, like Patterson on Sunday, or WARREN last two years, come in behind the same offensive line and consistently gash the defense for long runs To many including me, he is the key that is holding back this offense by constantly putting them behind the chains!

Is Najee a certified first round bust?  He runs hard and doesn't fumble, but I can't remember the last time, without jumping, he made a defender miss or broke a tackle.
Gerry Dulac
10:22
First off, I wouldn't call him a bust. He's had over 1,000 yards each of his three years. And he moves the pile like nobody else on the team. But that's part of the problem, there's always a pile. But I will point up he has 8 runs of 20+ yards since last season, which is near the top in the league, so he must be breaking tackles or making someone miss

Thanks for the chats. I your opinion: best stillers defensive rookie?
Gerry Dulac
10:22
If you mean this year, there's only one -- Payton Wilson.
10:23
Do you mean ever?

What's you favorite tomlinism?
Gerry Dulac

Too many to list. But I always liked "We've been dead Indians in his cowboy movie enough" when talking about trying to defend Browns kick returner Josh Cribbs

Gerry, it looks so far like the Patrick Queen acquisition is a bust. He looks a lot more like Devin Bush than Ryan Shazier. A lot of money tied up there. Would have been better off keeping Robert Spillane, who is a tackling machine in Vegas. Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:25
I'd go easy on that nonsense

Hi Gerry. Thanks for the chats. What a challenging job you have in this regard.  The game of football seems like it might be most enjoyed by fans in a game by game encapsulated segments- on the field games. The drama of between-the-games activities that make up the season long progression of how teams respond to game by game developments, all the way to the playoffs and championships, is a never ending exhausting part of "The Season". How you do this and remain sane is amazing. Thank you.

Good morning Gerry. For the last four years the Steelers have had three OC’s ( if you include Sullivan), four QB’s and the offense has been horrible. In today’s NFL, you need to score points to keep up with the top teams in the league. Tomlin’s conservative approach has not been working for a long time now. Isn’t it time for a change at head coach?  He does live in his fears. Your thoughts?  Thanks
Gerry Dulac
10:28
That's the approach he believes in and continues to employ. I have always stated the Steelers could bring in Sid Gillman as their offensive coordinator and they'd still win games 17-13 or 23-16.

Good morning Gerry.  The drafting in the last 8-9 years been awful.  The majority of starters on the roster are FAs or cast-off.  Besides some new scouts, are there serious changes to philosophy and practice to how we draft?  Thank you
Gerry Dulac
10:33
OK, let's see....seven of their 11 offensive starters and five of their top backups are home-grown draft choices. Defensively, five of the 11 defensive starters and four of their top backups are draft picks. But, big picture -- that's life in the free-agency world of the NFL

Can you think of any time when a team had 3 straight night home games? It stinks for season ticket holders and I suspect there will  be a lot of Dallas fans Sunday night.

I can't but then I never researched it. It is odd

Hello . Thank you as always for the chat . I do not see the reason why some people are going Gaga over 15 minutes of Justin Fields play while Colts were mostly in prevent defense ? So he made 2 rushing TDs and made some throws . Fact remains that he could not move the ball for the most of the game . It’s funny that when Fields can not do anything , coaches get the blame and not him , but if he plays well for 15 minutes , him and not the coaches get the praise. I  hope Wilson gets a chance to play and sooner because this brand of football is not going to work against good teams . Rudolph looked good by the way in his Titans debut and Picket will get to play soon in Philly as well and I hope show to the Steelers brass what they had and did not care for . Thank you very much.

Speaking as a sports referee of 43 years i want to chime in on the comments about officiating. these people have never seen a rule book, much less studied it. They've never attended a training camp nor have they done regular professional development. They've never had to make split second decisions on play happening at warp speed. The only thing they know about officiating is that they don't have what it takes to do it themselves. This attitude is a cancer that has spread throughout all sports down to the youth level and is the major reason that youth games get cancelled due to a shortage of officials. People need to think about this because it has now and will continue to have an effect on the future of the games.  Energy is better spent on things that can be controlled, i.e. player performance. I might add that the two most disputed personal fouls from last week, the sack on Fields and Minka's, cancelled each other out. Officiating tends to even out.

hi gerry, great work, always. can you help me with something. how is arthur anderson's offensive play calling any different than the previous 3 years? many different players. yet, still vanilla and predictable, it looks to me. essentially the same look as before.  how about you? you talk with a lot of people and have been at this a long time.

Because Mike Tomlin is the head coach who sets the philosophy

Hi Gerry thanks for the chats! Are the injuries to the o line the main reason the Steelers can't run the ball? Or do they just need time to gel as a unit because play action passing needs a strong run game to be effective?
Gerry Dulac
10:37
Well, you can say injuries I guess, but what they have done is cause a lot of different line combinations and restricted the ability for the same 5 guys to jell

If and when Wilson is cleared to play, do you see Fields continuing to start or does Tomlin work Russ into the games slowly?
Gerry Dulac
10:38
I think you will see that at the first sign of trouble
