I'm guessing he will, based on Tomlin's comments yesterday.

Gerry thanks for being here for us! In following the Steelers for many years, I get the impression that for the most part opposing coaches find M Tomlin’s teams very easy to game vvb plan against. Would you agree?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
That's hard for me to quantify. But I can see why you might think that.

Did the Steelers give up on the run too early on Sun.? They seemed to be running the ball pretty effectively, but they didn’t commit to it. Whoever said that this offense has an identity crisis - I agree with them!
Gerry Dulac
10:18
No, I actually didn't have a problem with the play-calls. They were trailing and needed to do something to get going in the second half. But I thought there has been a decent mix of run and pass last couple games.

Does Mr. Rooney II have the same fire that his father had? If not, how much impact do you believe that has on the organization and championship culture?
Gerry Dulac
10:18
It's hard to suggest anyone has Dan Rooney's competitive fire!!

Will there be any hidden gems/Mont Adams finds this year via practice squad?
Gerry Dulac
10:19
We'll have to wait and see I suppose

How much of Trubisky's performance this year can be attributed to his abilities as a QB versus things like the offensive line, the play calling, and knowing Pickett was sooner or later going to take over? Did we see what many others have said about him that he's just not good enough to be a starting QB or was he just so handcuffed that you can't definitively make that determination?
Gerry Dulac
10:21
It's always a lot of things, which Pickett discovered with three interceptions

I expected a decrease in getting to the QB with Watt out but I didn't expect they'd get NO pressure on QBs with Watt out.  I see the inability to get to the QB as the second biggest problem on the defense after the inability to stop the run.  Do you agree and if so what do they do about it?
Gerry Dulac
10:22
I won't argue with you, but their biggest problem is getting a stop when they absolutely have to and they haven't been able to do it.

Hi, has any of the coaches discussed why they don't rush more than 4 anymore?  It seems like they rarely send more than that.  I think some extra blitzing on that last drive, particularly on 4th and 7, could've forced some bad throws.  Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
10:23
You might be right. But, then, they rarely rush more than four. It just seems like 5 when TJ is in there

Gerry do you believe that if Dan Rooney were still around and running the team that he would be giving Tomlin the latitude and free passes that Art Jr seems to be allowing?
Gerry Dulac
10:24
Probably.

Good morning Gerry!  With Tomlin's tendency to allow players to leave when unhappy (can you say Melvin Ingram?), if Trubisky asks for a trade, do the Steelers seek a trade?  I don't see Trubisky becoming a severe distraction given his professionalism, but but cleary he is upset.
Gerry Dulac
10:25
He clearly is. He is not happy how and why this whole thing came down. And I'm not buying the whole "we needed a spark" thing
Rich
10:25
Gerry can you remind me again why the Steelers took a second quarterback in Round 7?
Gerry Dulac
10:25
Hahaha. I'm still searching for the answer myself. Called it a wasted pick then and, well, that hasn't changed since.

Does Mike Tomlin have a problem being honest? First he told us there was an open quarterback competition in the pre-season (false), then yesterday he said the change to Pickett was not because of Tribusky's performance (false). What's Tomlin's problem?
Gerry Dulac
10:25
It's called coach-speak.
Jim
10:26
Had all off season to work on run defense, no better than last year. Scheme or personnel or both?
Gerry Dulac
10:26
I'm gonna say both!!!

More likely the team experiments with Mark Robinson and others after the bye (depending on record)?
Gerry Dulac
10:27
There aren't many "experiments" once the season starts. Only players stepping in because of injuries....or just really futile performance.
Bill
10:27
Now that the Tribusky era is over, isn't it true that he never really was better than Mason Rudolph, not as a passer and not even in mobility. Was Tribusky simply an over reaction by the Steelers to Ben's retirement?
Gerry Dulac
10:28
Trubisky was signed to be a bridge between Ben and Pickett and he offered more mobility than Rudolph. Very simple.

Gerry if the season keeps spiraling and the Steelers wanted to trade a couple of veterans for draft choices, who do they have that anybody might want besides Minkah and TJ, both of whom I assume would not be on the table?
Gerry Dulac
10:30
You assumed right. Trust me, Tomlin and the Steelers do not operate or think that way. When Diontae Johnson used the word "rebuilding" the other day after the game, I'm sure Tomlin (and Kevin Colbert) cringed. I wouldn't even be surprised if Tomlin admonished DJ about it. Shows his mentality versus Tomlin's.

Is Claypool not getting open, or are the QBs just not looking his way?  How long before he starts pouting?
Gerry Dulac
10:30
You coulda stopped the question after 'open.'
Jim
10:30
It was clear, at least to me, that Pickett was the better QB since the start of training camp. Why did it take Tomlin so long to see it! Mind boggling. I say we would be at least .500 with Pickett as the starter all season.
Gerry Dulac
10:32
The plan was to not throw Pickett to the wolves right away, much like they did anyway at halftime against the Jets. What rookie QB makes his NFL debut at halftime after not getting the reps all week in practice? That was NOT the plan. But, for some reason, the plan changed. Are you following me here...???

You spend a first-round pick on a bruising back and give him only two carries in the fourth quarter when you have a lead. Isn’t that exactly the situation you drafted him for?
Gerry Dulac
10:32
Bad playcalling
Utah Jim

Pro Football Focus has them pick sixth next year. You buying that?
Gerry Dulac

I usually don't buy what they're selling.

Why does Tomlin have a hard time finding a good OC?
