Maybe we should ask a couple good offensive coordinators

Hi Gerry, Regarding the interception on the Claypoole pass, it seemed as though he, Claypoole, jumped up and away from the ball.  Did I see this incorrectly?
Gerry Dulac
10:34
You saw it correctly. He not only did it then, he does it ALL the time. My question is, when is a position coach going to work with him to change that and take advantage of his 6-foot-4 frame????

Hi Gerry:  Thanks for the Chats:  Last week I wrote to you I thought Canada would ruin Pickett, and we already have some clues.  Having KP to throw into double coverage to tall receivers (#88 and especially #11) for combat catches is a Fool’s Errand.  Canada has to go before permanent damage is done.

Sometimes its the decision and not the play-call. Maybe both are to blame.

Is there any chance the Steelers would trade some veterans for draft picks if they are 1-7 or even 2-6 at the deadline?   Trubisky is the obvious one, but this team is more than a few players short of competing for a Super Bowl, so trading several veterans and picking up more draft capital next year could be helpful.

I wouldn't hold your breath on that one

Gerry, Diontae Johnson used the "r" word:  rebuild.  Ugh! I've had enough of the Pirates' already...
Gerry Dulac
10:35
I'm sure he was told about that. But it shows his mindset versus the mindset the Steelers prefer.

What do you think caused Mike Tomlin to stop living in his fears and put in Kenny Pickett at half-time?
Gerry Dulac
10:36
Best question of the day!!
Jim

I like Tomlin, but I think the game has passed him by. Do you agree we need a new coach and a fresh start?
Gerry Dulac
10:36
The game has not passed him by.

What’s it gonna take for Chase Claypool to produce more in this offense?
Gerry Dulac
10:36
I'm not sure I have that answer.

I’m already looking to next season. With some good draft picks and free agent signings, I think the Steelers can turn it around quickly. OL, DL, ILB, DB and safety are probably Steelers biggest immediate needs for next season. What order of most to least need would you put them in? Thank you
Gerry Dulac
10:37
Too early Money for me to starting evaluating draft needs. But I don't think there's any question, just like this year and last year, it has to start on the lines of scrimmage.

Hi Gerry, since there is no clear front runner (AFC North), the Steelers still have a chance. However, the Steelers face a really tough schedule for next 3 weeks. What would you do if the Steelers stand something like 1-7 after this stretch? If this is a rebuilding year, who would you trade to gain draft picks?
Gerry Dulac
10:38
I really don't see the Steelers doing that because that has never been the way they do business. Don't think they will start now. Let's wait to see if they are 1-7 because I doubt it will sink to that level, despite what I see.

What is the identity the offense would like to have right now from your perspective? CLE-style run first/play-action off that?
Gerry Dulac
10:39
Something like that. Play-action was supposed to be a big part of what Matt Canada wants to do, which is why you saw Trubisky line under center so much

Hey Gerry, now that the Steelers are clearly in rebuilding mode, will they take the draft more seriously?  I'm still irritated over the two wasted picks in Cam's brother and the quarterback, and the signing of Watt's brother who they rarely use.  I wonder how many late round defensive linemen they passed over to take these guys..
Gerry Dulac

Have you been talking to Diontae Johnson??

Gerry/  I think coaching staff’s failures to make in game adjustments has been a factor not getting sufficient attention.  Does that rest with MT or the coordinators?
Gerry Dulac

Ultimately with the head coach.
Ok kids, time to head to the locker room. Sorry we can't continue. I like the questions. Bye now
