Mr Dulac.   Roman Wilson still has not been active for games and we know it is always hard to get on a moving train.   But the moving train that is our offense has to be going really really slow.  Is this the week Roman Wilson gets a chance?  Especially in light of the snap management now being used for other receivers?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
If the train moves any slower it will stop. Roman Wilson will get in there eventually because 1) Why not? and 2) He's a third-round pick who at some point they want to see in a game, even just for a couple plays.

Hey Gerry, thanks for the chat and all you do to keep us Steeler fans informed. It’s much appreciated. Do you think we’re heading towards yet another 7th seed or barely missing the playoff type season? The good vibes from the Chargers game are pretty much gone. It feels like we’re looking at a very mediocre team once again. Injuries are an issue but the lack of skill players and elite QB play are hindering the offense and our defense doesn’t have any one making impact plays besides TJ. Do you see any path towards a playoff win this year?
Gerry Dulac

I think it's way too early to assess where they are headed or if they can win a playoff game. Case in point: Last year the 49ers started 5-0 and were averaging like 34 points a game. Then they lost three in a row where they scored just 17 points in each of those three losses. And they ended up OK. Even last year, as bad as the Steelers looked at 7-7, Mason Rudolph came in and got them to the postseason at 10-7. And nobody woulda thought that at the time.

Hi Gerry. Is Mike Tomlin's approach to winning outdated? I took a look at Super Bowl champions from 2016 to 2022. All of them had high ranking offenses, ranging from 1 to 7 on a points per game basis. On the defensive side of the ball, the Patriots had the #1 PPG ranking in 2016, but otherwise the range was 4 to 16 over that time period, with the Rams at 15 in 2021 and the Chiefs at 16 in 2022. Basically, the conclusion is that elite offenses with elite QB play win Super Bowls since 2016, and can overcome average to mediocre defensive play. Tomlin's got it backwards, thinking an elite defense can cover for a below-average offense. Thoughts?

I couldn't agree more. But they have those players capable of playing that way. No more Killer Bs. So this is the way they have to play until they prove they have an offense scaring the other team, which they don't.
Hi Brian -
10:21
How long before the national media reconciles with the local media on the underwhelming performance of Tomlin and the Steelers?
Gerry Dulac

You might be waiting a while

Do you think the Steelers play Russell Wilson as a way to showcase him (as healthy) before the trade deadline?
Gerry Dulac
10:21
That won't be the reason they play him

10:22
Would you trade George Pickens to the Raiders for Davante Adams and a draft pick?
Gerry Dulac
10:22
I think I would consider it if this nonsense continues.
Jerrydewlack
10:22
Is trading pickens on the table
Gerry Dulac
10:22
Not that I'm aware of. That would really be weakening your chances

10:23
What would fair compensation be for the Steelers to offer in a Davante Adams' trade?
Gerry Dulac
10:23
3rd round pick

What is going on with Roman Wilson? He’s apparently healthy. It’s not like they have a plethora of All-Pros at the position. Got to get on the moving train sometime.

It's called "he's a rookie and not sure what he's doing."

MT has gotten a lot of the pieces he was looking for.  A mobile qb, ilb to help replace Shazier, new oc, new o linemen, new cb's, etc, yet he still fails to consistently win games.  Will this continue through 2027?
Gerry Dulac
10:24
Maybe longer if he gets another extension
Steve in Canton
10:24
Do you think the Steelers make a move of any kind at or before the Nov. 5 trade deadline?
Gerry Dulac
10:25
I wouldn't be surprised. Depends if there's a significant injury to a starter, too
Hi Brian -
10:25
Should we all stop complaining about Tomlin's deficiencies and the Steelers' lack of preparation and creativity? With Mr. Rooney's extension to HCMT, we get what we get, and there is no reason to get upset because 9-8 is the new "standard."  Is this simply the new reality?
Gerry Dulac
10:25
Now there's a good point!

What will it take for WR Roman Wilson to finally make a gameday appearance on the field?
Gerry Dulac
10:26
Couple more games. But I don't think you should be expecting Antonio Brown. Be happy if he gets as many catches as his uniform number

Hi Gerry. Building on my previous long question. In 2015, the Broncos led by a past his prime Peyton Manning had the 19th ranked offense on PPG basis, and the #1 ranked defense and won the Super Bowl. And going back to 2008, when the Steelers won the Super Bowl the last time, their offense was ranked 20th and their defense was 1st overall on a PPG basis. So I get it, Tomlin won a defense-first Super Bowl, but that will be 16 years ago come February 2025. Why is he so stubborn? And why does he refuse to evolve his thinking to align with the modern day NFL?
Gerry Dulac
10:27
Because his way, for the most part, has been consistently successful.

What's the status of ILB Cole Holcomb? And will he play this season for the Steelers?
Gerry Dulac
10:28
I highly doubt it. And, right now, there is no reason to play him.

Gerry, If you owned the Steelers would you force MT to hire a game management coach and actually let that person do their job? It is astonishing that he is in his 18th year and is still remarkably awful at handling challenge, clock, and 4th down decisions.
Gerry Dulac
10:29
No.

In a past chat while Ben was still playing, someone complained that Roethlisberger needed to be let go.  You told them the day will come where they would regret not having him.  You get a Pay The Man for that!  What do the Steelers need to do to get back to winning and competing for Super Bowls?
Gerry Dulac
10:29
Get Ben back?

How much time will you have for the tiki bar and pool-side lounging at the Las Vegas hotel?
Gerry Dulac

Haha...alas, none

Will you and Ray F. be hitting the casinos in Las Vegas?
Gerry Dulac
10:31
I'm taking Ray's room key away

Hi Gerry.  Thank you for the chats. Following and being a fan of Steelers football has become tough since about a year befoe Roethlisberger retired. The team is stagnated and their approach for success (winning a super bowl) has become rote. Simply put,  I am losing interest. Do you know of any effective way to measure fan perception in this regard so I can determine if I am alone with my waning patience and interest?
Gerry Dulac
10:32
I hear ya Robert. It is not entertaining football and hasn't been for 3 years now. It is difficult to watch and stay interested. You are not alone. I hear that from a lot of people.
