OK, kids, we're going to start our chat in just a few minutes....

Ok, here we go...!!

How much did the Steelers D benefit from the offense's time of possession Sunday?
Gerry Dulac
10:57
I don't think there's any question the extra time a defense can get from offensive TOP is a benefit. I'm not so sure that's the reason the defense played well -- I think they had a good plan and executed it -- bit it couldn't have hurt.

Are the Bengals & Falcons similar teams with offenses that generate points and defenses that allow opponents to move the ball?
Gerry Dulac
10:58
In that regard, yes they are. But I think the Falcons have more offensive weapons than the Bengals and the Bengals have better rush people up front on defense.

10:59
The Steelers O beat up on a depleted Atlanta squad, but the defense stood up to a potent Atlanta offense. Can this D continue to keep opposing offenses in check? (one TD in last 6 quarters)
Gerry Dulac
11:00
I don't think any defense in the league, maybe with an exception or two (e.g. Rams), can expect to keep up every week with offenses in today's NFL.

I know AB is our top WR but... can we afford to keep him with the constant migraine inducing on/off field issues if somone will give us a 1st round pick?
I love what he brings but man...
Gerry Dulac
11:01
I will repeat to you what a coach once told me -- when the production outweighs the aggravation, you keep him; when the aggravation outweighs the production, you get rid of him.

Steelers seem to want to get something in return for Bell, which is understandable.  Would it be best to find a trade partner as soon as he returns, or use him the rest of this season and then transition tag and trade him in the off season?
Gerry Dulac
11:04
I think if he waited till Week 10 to return -- and, hey, he still might -- then I think it would be best for them, and they would be more inclined, to trade him after he signs the tag. But, if he shows up next week, and there's no solid reason to believe he will, other than telling an ESPN reporter, then I think there's still enough time in the season for them to keep him around.

Is Ben going to be dealing with the elbow injury all season?
Gerry Dulac
11:04
He said it's nothing worth talking about.

11:04
Fort showed some ability against Falcons. How do you see him being used when Williams returns?
Gerry Dulac
11:04
The same -- special teams only

The Steelers are poised to have a lot of cap space next season, especially if they trade Bell this year. What contracts are coming up that would need to be taken care of with that space?
Gerry Dulac
11:05
Ben
Pammy Whammy
11:06
Ben R says his elbow is nothing, but he sure missed some easy throws on Sunday....do you buy it?
Gerry Dulac
11:07
I don't think that had anything to do with his elbow. He was also 10 of 12 for 165 yards in the second half and didn't miss AB on that 47 yd TD. So his elbow didn't appear to bother him then
Pammy Whammy
11:07
Do the Bengals have an achilles heal and how do the Steelers exploit it?
Gerry Dulac
11:08
Yeah, run the ball. They don't do a very good job of stopping the run.
scott in dallas
11:08
Does Bell on the field really make or break this team as a SB contender? Seems like it is more of the D needing to take a couple more steps forward for me...
Gerry Dulac
11:09
No, I think they can be (and are) a Super Bowl team without him. Take Ben away, no Super Bowl team. Take AB away, no Super Bowl team. Take Bell away, still a Super Bowl team.

After Haden, who is the best defensive back?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
I think Sean Davis has been more than solid in his new spot
scott in dallas
11:10
What would it take for Tomlin to wind up on the hot seat?
Gerry Dulac
11:11
With the fans? Not a whole lot more. With the people who matter? More than any scenario you might be able to paint.

Was kind of surprised when they picked up 5th year option on Dupree, but that may turn out to be wise with his current level of play.  Do you see them doing the same with Burns?
Gerry Dulac
11:15
Burns might be different because there are a few more capable bodies in the secondary. They didn't have that with Dupree. But, just because they picked up Dupree's fifth-year option doesn't mean they have to keep him next season. Based on what we have seen so far, however, I think they will. They have a lot of time for Burns to right himself before they have to make that decision.

gerry, what'd you think of the colts signing mike mitchell? they must not have a scouting dept. thx
Gerry Dulac
11:16
Either that, or they are desperate, which they are. They have injuries at safety and are running out of bodies.
joe
11:19
any chance of seeing matthew thomas on passing situations?
Gerry Dulac
11:20
Probably not, unless there are injuries later in the season. He's still learning the defense and where to be in pass situations is maybe the most complex part.

you recently said a couple weeks ago that the organization knows what they'll do with bell when/if he shows up... can you give us any hints about what u  mean?
Gerry Dulac
11:25
I cannot because I'm not privvy to everything that goes on. But they have a plan, rest assured.

11:25
what's the feeling within the organization about this civil suit with AB?
Gerry Dulac
11:26
Well, like everything that seems to occur with their All-Diva wide receiver, I'm sure they would prefer such stuff not go on.

Gerry, Franco from Canada...............any word on joining you and Ed on a game day road trip - everyone has a bucket list, that is near the top of mine!
Gerry Dulac
11:27
Franco, thanx for the note. Glad to know we're on the bucket list. Maybe we can throw Collier and Ray out of the car sometime and take you.
