Hey Gerry As a follow-up question from your perspective and buffalo to me on TV I have to agree with Ryan Clark as hard as it is I thought several players gave up and I thought that also happened in Cincinnati last year I’m very interested in your perspective. Thanks and we enjoy reading your columns!

I agree with him too. I like Ryan and what he has to say. He is very thoughtful with his comments. Like I said earlier, it is difficult for me to gauge who has heart and, in this instance, who gives up. As a former player, if he thinks so, fine.

Loudermilk and Robinson haven’t been active. Why not give those guys a try since it can’t get any worse?
Gerry Dulac
10:35
I'm more surprised about Loudermilk because he is a second-year guy who played a lot last year and knows what he's doing. Robinson is a rookie who has no game experience, so I get that.

Just an observation.   It’s hard to throw a deep pass down the middle of the field with your hands cuffed.

So you're saying...??

Good morning Gerry while I would like to see offensive coordinator Canada fired like yesterday what is best for the Steelers long-term in your opinion to do it during the season and hire another offensive coordinator that follows the last two coordinators plans or as much as it’s painful is it better to wait until the end of the season and hopefully have a much better selection of coaches to do our due diligence and hire a qualified experience offensive coordinator?

Dan Rooney never believed in firing a coach during the season because it would handcuff any decision after the season if the interim coach performed well.  So they don't believe in it and will not do that.

Hello . Thank you as always for the chat . How do you evaluate Picket’s performance ? Even though there is not much to show on the scoreboard , I believe that he seemed to have better command of the offense that Trubisky . He seems like a real deal . Also , do you think there is any chance of OC change ? Seeing unsuccessful running plays being called one after another when you are down by 3 touchdowns seems like there is no sense of ground reality . You can call a better game than what we saw fromlast Sunday . Thank you very much .

Heyyyyy, you underestimating my ability to call a game?? Yes, I thought Pickett performed well. Looks very comfortable and in command of what he wants to do. But, like I said, still only 3 points.

Dear Gerry, thanks for your time.
What do you think holds the running game back? i know there is the players and the scheme to blame but maybe one more than the other?
Gerry Dulac
10:40
I'm not going to entirely blame the offensive line, that's for sure. Coaching is a problem too

Gerry,  I was not able to see the MT news conf. yesterday.  Did anyone ask MT why bother kicking meaningless FG's when down 30 pts?  Wouldn't it serve Kenny better to get experience with 4th downs?
Gerry Dulac
10:40
I asked him that after the game.

What is the obsession with "not having a losing season?" Is that the "standard" legacy that Tomlin truly seeks? Is it the awe of his countless wise quips that sound like a mix between Confucius and Yogi Berra that the media tends to adore? Resting on the laurels of the past...that's cute!

Now you gotta love this question!!! Beautiful

Rant alert. Run run pass punt doesn’t work. Finally we start to throw short outs and have some success.  But then we don’t use this route to set up something big downfield.  We stay with it till it gets defended. No hurry up or checks at the line.  What are we afraid of?  Potentially scoring more points. Picket is supposed to be a cerebral QB.  Let’s allow him to use his brain. What do we have to lose except maybe winning?    Have a great day and love your chats.

Yeah, the red zone play-calling wasn't very good. Especially when the run-run part gets just 2 yards. Just think, eight more carries like that and they would have a first down.

I was a huge Tomlin fan when he was hired as my neighbor at the time Mike Alstott told me once the players bought into his system, they would love him and the Steelers would be winners.  I reminded Mike during the AB debacle that Tomlin did not appear to be having the players buy into the system and the Steelers were squandering the most talented team in the NFL.  Tomlin has no coaching tree as does Cowers, Knoll and several other good NFL coaches.  He has missed on draft picks, makes little adjustments during the game, displays poor time management etc.  He may be a 'players" coach and a nice guy, but I am no longer a Tomlin fan.  Even if Canada goes nothing changes as Tomlin from what I read has the final say on D and O plays regardless of the coordinator.  In your view what would it take for Tomlin to be dismissed?  If he was dismissed, please provide names of coaches you believe would be available.  Thanks for the Chat!

Whoa, Rudy, talk about bringing some insight. I'm not exactly sure what it would take to have Tomlin be fired. Hey, ask Alstott if he remembers why Tampa Bay fired Tony Dungy -- because he kept losing early playoff games after winning division titles.
10:45
OK kids, that's all the time we have today. Have to head to locker room to tell some of the players what you guys think.
