If the Steelers make it to 3-3 given the injuries, schedule and new offense isn't that reason for optimism?
Gerry Dulac
11:13
Depends on the disgruntled nature of the fan. Notice I didn't say person.

How long before we really start using Muth in the red zone?
Gerry Dulac
11:14
Soon as they get there

Do you see any chance that the Steelers try and go for Rodgers, IF Ben retires. Do you think Ben retires?
Gerry Dulac
11:15
None. And I'm not sure what you can call it, just as I'm not certain he will be back in 2022

Why is it if the Steelers played the exact games so far this season that the Ravens have, people would have pointed out how lucky they were on the FG bouncing in and they got way down to a bad team before coming back to win in OT. But they make the Ravens out to be this GREAT team?
Gerry Dulac
11:17
The Ravens could easily -- EASILY -- be 1-4. Fumble by Edwards-Hellaire in KC. 66-yard FG vs. Detroit. Missed FG vs Indy. All resulted in wins. But, you know what? They're not 1-4. They're 4-1 because they are resilient and never quit and find ways to win.

Gerry, I know luck follows good teams but the Ravens seem to be the luckiest.  I think they are mediocre at best and rely too heavily on Jackson who does it all.  Some observers say a running QB takes less hits than a pocket passer because he can decide whether to get hit or run out-of-bounds while a pocket passer stands in the pocket waiting to get hit.  Thanks for your comments.

Kind of goes with my previous answer. Their defense is not very good -- at least, it wasn't against Indy -- and they have not been overly impressive for the majority of their games. But they come together in the last 15 minutes and pull out the win, and most, if not all, of that is because of Lamar Jackson, who remains the most unstoppable player in the league IMO.

Funny comment on the Popeye's in Robinson.....my home township!!!!

Me too.

Thanks for the chat, Gerry.   Are offensive linemen, in general, underpaid compared to other positions in the NFL?
Gerry Dulac
11:21
Left tackles aren't. They are paid as much, if not more, than any position other than QBs.

Hi Gerry, anything encouraging to report on the CB (Witherspoon) that we acquired from the Seahawks?  It's been very quiet...
Gerry Dulac
11:21
That's because he has been very quiet.

i don't understand why we don;t have abig body, someone in the 320-340 range to stuff up the middle of the line, even if he's only used 20% of the time, I can't see why we don't plug somebody in there
Gerry Dulac
11:21
I don't disagree. The Ravens make a living off that.

Hi Gerry.  Hopefully the injury to JJSS will steer the Steelers offensive play designers/callers towards throwing a few more passes at Friermuth down the middle.  He could probably get 80-100 yards receiving per game. Oh, and don't forget to have him in when they are in the Red Zone. Your thoughts please.
Gerry Dulac
11:22
I don't disagree with you, either. And I think you will see him get more and more involved going forward, especially without JuJu
Jeff
11:22
Thanks for the chats Gerry.  I watched the Denver game again and honed in on the OL (mainly because I have no life).  Nevertheless they looked good, helped each other out and finally had some push.  Even if Banner is ready to go do you bring him in when things started to gel?  At least for one game
Gerry Dulac
11:26
I suggest "The Morning Show" on Apple TV. Or "The Crown" or "Click Bait" on Netflix. Much better viewing for your life.

11:26
Do you think BR is getting too big of a pass (no pun intended) for all the near interceptions he is throwing?
Gerry Dulac
11:26
You know what they call near interceptions? Incompletions.
Steeler Joe
11:26
With Juju out, more throws to Muuuuuth and Harris?
Gerry Dulac
11:26
A possibility.
Jerry
11:27
Why does our corners play ten yards back while blitzing. I think that’s why they get beaten so much. We never seem to play press coverage. Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:27
Maybe because they're not so good in press coverage. But, hey, I don't disagree.

I saw that Lefty won $300,000 for winning the last "over 50" tournament.  Not bad!
Gerry Dulac
11:28
Good work if you can get it, eh!
Steeler Joe

I'm still not clear: Is Tuitt out solely for physical reasons, or is there still an element of recovering from his tragic loss? I only ask because one makes it a little easier to predict a return than the other. Either way, he certainly should take all the time he needs. But we really do miss him in there.
Gerry Dulac
11:28
It is physical. He had knee surgery right before the start of the season because his knee injury wasn't progressing at all during the spring and summer.

11:29
With JuJu out, Could we see Pat Freiermuth being the no.1 TE and having Ebron used more as a WR? Or even use 6'8" Zach Gentry more?
I'd really love to see some mismatches with Gentry against some shorter LB's here and there
Gerry Dulac
11:29
I think you are already seeing Gentry more and more on the field. I like Gentry.
CoalportKid
11:29
The play action to Gentry for 13 was my favorite play this year. Why not more tight end throws?
Gerry Dulac
11:30
Ok, ok, I think I answered the Gentry questions enough. Funny, I haven't received any questions about "Why not throw to Freiermuth more with JuJu out?"
Jeff

I forget what play it was but Minkah reminded me a lot of Troy when he came flying out of nowhere to make a play behind line of scrimmage.  Would love to see more of that.  I am sure there is a good reason but to the untrained eye why wouldnt we bring him up to show a blitz look?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
I know the play you're talking about, but it just depends where he is lined in a certain defense if he can come up and make that play. Minkah's role is as a free safety who roams the back end and middle of the field. That's where he makes nearly all of his game-changing plays -- splash plays, if you will. He should stay there.

Is Highsmith still having some issues with injuries?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
Hard to quantify. But he is having issues getting the type of pressure on the QB they would like to see.
