Ben told us before the first regular season game that it would take this offense a little while to get going. Why did nobody listen to him?

Because fans don't. It's a week-to-week reactionary thing. Win = Super Bowl. Lose = No. 1 draft pick.

Hi Gerry:  Thanks for the chats.   There are a number of things the Steelers do uniquely poorly compared to other teams that I don’t get.  Every opponent on 3rd or 4th down appears to have their backs or receivers run to the line of gain to hopefully catch the first down pass.  The Steelers always seem to connect 1 to 5 yds. short and hope the receiver can bull it over the line.  Why?  Who calls that?

That doesn't always happen, of course, but when it does it is maddening. The hope is the quick pass gets to a receiver before the coverage and has the room to scoot for a couple more yards.

Is Ben successfully transitioning to more of a game manager vs. a gunslinger? I would imagine this is a difficult move for him. Just curious how much you think Ben has internalized his new job description - following Canada's plans, reducing risky plays, etc. I think the O hits on all cylinders when he gets it.

The offense hits on all cylinders when Ben is successful doing whatever he needs to do.  He is adjusting to a new offense, but Ben is Ben and an 18-year veteran isn't going to change totally from what he has been very successful doing.

Hello Gerry. Based on what Tomlin said about a QB with mobility and the fact that he wouldn’t want to start with rookie QB in 2022. Who do you think has better chance of being Steelers QB in 2022
Gerry Dulac

It might be Haskins.

I remember the Steelers drafting  a running back in the 70s who was supposed to be a real speedster, but he broke his leg at the beginning of his first season and never played again. Do you know who I’m talking about?
Gerry Dulac

Well, we know that isn't Franco, who was never a speedster. I believe the player you're thinking about was Laverne Smith, a RB from Kansas. He was drafted in 1977 on the fourth round and broke his leg later that season.

Do you agree that Pierre has been a good option on the outside?  Both of the long tds he have up were, in my opinion, perfect throws that no one could defend. What say you?

OL coach Klemm is receiving many "atta boys" this week.  Hmm, wasn't he the village idiot three weeks ago?????

Well, you know, fans being fans...

OK kids, that's all the time we have today. Thanx for the questions. Surprised nobody asked about Freiermuth.
