OK kids, we will start our chat in about 15-20 minutes so get those questions ready.....
9:50
Ok, let's get started....Go!!

Minkah seems to be a shell of his 2019 self. What seems to be the issue? His effort on tackling is an embarrassment.
Gerry Dulac
9:51
Yeah, he's been terrible.
Le'Veon

Would Pitt take Bell back at the league minimum knowing nothing salary-wise is guaranteed?
Gerry Dulac

No

I just want to weigh in on this LeVeon Bell situation before I head up to 'Winstar Casino' an play Keno for 5 hours,  The Steelers need to sign Mr. Bell [if healthy] and on the cheap for the final 12 games of this season.  Let's face it Steeler fans, sometime in the next 12 weeks, JC will get hurt and miss significant games.  The S%S green stamp boys, Snell % Samuels is not the answer and McFarland still has puppy teeth.
Gerry Dulac

I hope you have better luck at the casino than getting a reasonable answer from me on that one.

Gerry, The media will try to hype up the situation of last year. But don't you think the game will be won by the team that protects their QB the best? Thank you for taking my question
Gerry Dulac
9:53
That's not the only reason, but it will be one of them, especially if the Steelers continue to protect Ben. The key for the Steelers will be stopping the run and forcing Baker Mayfield into passing situations to use their pressure.

Good Morning Gerry, As Chase Claypool gets more involved with the offense and his production  keeps up what do you think his chances for offensive rookie of the year are?
Gerry Dulac
9:54
Well, right now, I think it would be between he and Joe Burrow and maybe Justin Herbert. But he has the edge after that game Sunday.

In regards to this week's match-up, on paper, who's 4 wins are more impressive?
Gerry Dulac
9:55
Well, the Steelers record is built against teams who are a combined 3-15-1, if you're looking for paper stats. And the Browns did beat the Colts, who are pretty good. So I'll let you pick.

How serious are the secondary concerns and what if anything can we do about it?  I would hate to not address one missing piece that keeps us from getting back to the SB.  And right now this seems to be a big missing piece.  Should we be looking for help before the trade deadline or do we hope it improves. Thanks
Gerry Dulac
9:57
They are not serious at all. After last season and before the start of this season, the secondary was being hailed and viewed as one of the team's best in a long long time. Nothing has changed. Try focusing on the defense's tremendous ability to sack and hit the quarterback and stop the run. Plus, the Steelers are playing with the lead most of the time, forcing teams to throw the ball more.

save this one for later but I am curious how many people ask about Bell.  Saying 15, you want over or under?
Gerry Dulac
9:58
I might go with the over. I'll try to count. Remember, I don't always post questions that become repetitive, so you might not see them all.

Gerry, would picking up Lev Bell at league minimum be a good low risk possible high reward move at this point or are his best days behind him?
Gerry Dulac
9:58
It's not a low risk, it's a high risk. As Tom Donahoe once said, they're not the Salvation Army

Hi Gerry, love your chats. Just a curious question. what happens if a team selects a player from another teams practice squad and he declines to report. Does he stay with current team or is he in some sort of limbo status.
Gerry Dulac
10:00
I don't know of a player who would decline going from a practice squad, where he doesn't play, to a 53-man roster where he can play. The whole point of making a roster is to play, not to practice.

Bell - or has it tolled?

Mike Hilton seems to be better at blitzing than covering slot receivers. Do you think Steelers will have to bolster that DB position midseason through a trade?
Gerry Dulac
10:01
I agree he is better at the line of scrimmage than he is in the open space of the secondary. But, between he and Cam Sutton, I think they are OK at that position.

Hello Gerry, glad everything is ok with you! With this "pack" mentality from Tomlin can we say his management of top talent has changed after the miserable B's??
Gerry Dulac
10:02
I think Mike Tomlin has always been very good at managing all players, not just top players. It's one of the reasons for their continued success and never having a losing season

What is Pittsburgh doing to alleviate Ebron's inability to hold onto the ball? He could have easily cost them the game Sunday.
Gerry Dulac
10:03
They are checking with the Raiders to see if they have any leftover stick-um.
Amy
10:03
How is TJ Watt doing? He appeared to be injured a bit Sunday.
Gerry Dulac
10:03
He said after the game he is OK. And he wasn't listed by Mike Tomlin yesterday as having any type of injury.
Melissa
10:03
Any word on raising the number of fans in attendance? The entire upper-deck was empty. Easily could add 15-20k more.
Gerry Dulac
10:05
Of course there is room to add more fans, but it has nothing to do with availability. It has to do with restricted ability in keeping with the guidelines set by the governor and health experts.

What's the status of DeCastro and Pouncey? Steelers O-line is devastated right now due to injuries.
Gerry Dulac
10:07
Devastated is a strong word, but there are some issues. Pouncey should play; not so sure about DeCastro. Stefen Wisniewski is still another couple weeks from being able to play. Keep your fingers crossed.

should the Steelers try and sign LeVeon?!  We're getting the band back together!
Gerry Dulac
10:08
That would be like getting Smashing Pumpkins back together.

The Browns have a strong offense. What changes should the Steelers make in the defensive scheme or players to have a chance to stop the Browns offense?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
None. They sack the quarterback and stop the run better than any team in the league. That's a good recipe for a lot of teams, particularly the Browns.
