I noticed that the four receiver formation bunch on Chase Claypool's touchdown was very unique and I could also see a bunch of eagles DB's motioning for a flag - was there anything that could have made that formation illegal?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
I know, and I have to check to see what the complaint was -- maybe not enough guys on the line of scrimmage. But it was unique. I have never seen them use that formation before in a game.

Greetings Jerry -  Are the Bills over-rated or the Titans under-appreciated?  Maybe that postponement was a good thing?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
The Titans are good, no question. We saw that last year in the postseason. And the reason is King Henry. I think the Bills are good, I don't think they're great by any stretch

Is Ju-Ju now a goner after this season due to Claypool's coming out party Sunday?
Gerry Dulac
10:14
No.

With the emergence of Claypool and Johnson coupled with Washington under contract for 2021 make it less likely the Steelers sign JuJu and more likely to ink Bud? They could also draft another 2nd or 3rd round WR to make up for the loss.
Gerry Dulac
10:15
They are not signing Bud. They can't, and really have no intention, because that big money is going to T.J. Watt. Ideally, the Steelers might have tried to franchise Bud for one more season, but that likelihood is all but gone with the reduced salary cap in 2021.

Who's the bell-cow rb this year? Too much switching around and limiting carries. Time to drop Samuels for Bell?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
Nothing has changed -- James Conner is their top back. And they are not dropping Samuels or anyone for Bell. I mean, why would they??? But I will say you will continue to see Benny Snell and Anthony McFarland get inserted into games

Gerry -  I heard reports that Poiuncey's exit from field last game was strang but no one sees any signs of injury when through his last snap?  What insights can you share on when/how his foot was injured and why he walked off the field immediately if it was not something of concern?
Gerry Dulac
10:18
I can't because I don't know. I didn't see him get injured either, but it was a foot injury and that can happen at any time. It can also get worse once the tape and shoe are taken off after a game. But it doesn't sound as though it's something serious. We will have to wait until the week of practice is over.

Minkah Fitzpatrick has the highest QBR against for any of our DIbs.
Gerry Dulac
10:19
And your point is....??

10:19
Gerry -   Note to all of those lobbying for LBell.  He was on downward trajectore BEFORE he left the Steelers.  FACTS!
Gerry Dulac
10:20
I will post so they can note. Has anyone considered that maybe Bell performed better with the Steelers because he had Ben, AB and Martavis Bryant around him??
Orlando Ed
10:20
I hit enter on accident didnt finish my question. Why is he not having success around the ball like he was last year and his tackling also seems to have regressed.
Gerry Dulac
10:21
Don't worry about Minkah. I think people are expecting him to have 10 interceptions this season after last year. He is fine. Keep in mind, teams are more reluctant to throw into his area, which is what we saw in the second half of last season

As I see it, despite what Tomlin says, the reason the Steelers have been giving up 3rd and longs (and it’s been a problem for more than just this season) is scheme-related. Tomlin has the DBs play well off the line in those circumstances and they don’t jam any receivers off the line, allowing for way too many soft spots in the zone coverage they are playing far too often. Do you agree?
Gerry Dulac
10:23
I would like to see them play more press coverage with their DBs, and not just third-and-long but also third-and-4 or -5. Or even on first or second down in some situations.
Orlando Ed
10:23
That is true...he is also the least targeted DB with 7 targets
Gerry Dulac
10:23
Touche
Chase
10:23
Does Chase jump the receiving line and get more plays? His participation rate is still low and Washington offers virtually nothing.
Gerry Dulac
10:25
He got 52 plays against the Eagles, one fewer than Washington, five fewer than JuJu. He's getting plenty of plays.

Hey Gerry thanks for doing this! I know it can be a struggle dealing with nitwits.... Are the Steelers less aggressive on the pass rush when facing mobile QBs? Seems like many more blitzes against 1st 2 QBs as opposed to the last 2..
Gerry Dulac
10:27
It's not that they're less aggressive -- maybe they are -- I think they are just more disciplined in their rush because of the mobile QB's ability to get outside. They will want to limit Baker's ability to get outside the pocket and throw. They will try to use Dupree and Watt to force him into the pocket.

Gerry -  If you were OC, how would you use Conner, Snell and McFarland?  Seems like they are still feeling their way in how to optimize strengths.
Gerry Dulac
10:27
I think you are correct. and I give them credit for using the different styles, trying to find what works.
10:28
OK kids, we're outta time. Have to run to practice. See you next week.
