Any word yet on the extent of Zach Frasier's injury? He has been solid; hate to lose him for an extended period.
Gerry Dulac
10:17
Tomlin said he's week to week, so you can probably expect that to mean 2-3 games.
Yinzer Maguire

Donte Jackson is playing really well, which helps somewhat ease the discomfort of losing your WR2. But, since Adams and Aiyuk are gone, do you believe this is the WR room the Steelers will keep for the remainder of the season? Is this the first Omar Khan's big mistake?
Gerry Dulac
10:19
Never rule out a move, especially if they think they are good enough to position themselves for a playoff run. They'll get a better idea with Wilson at quarterback

All the buzz was around D. Adams but where they also in discussion to acquire Cooper before he went to the Bills?  Or was it the Browns didn't want to trade with a division rival.
Gerry Dulac
10:19
Right. Browns weren't going to trade him to a division rival

Is the best we can say is that we aren't the Jets?  Or Carolina?  Fields missed open guys downfield that the Russ of old would have hit in stride.  And can we get someone like Ramon Foster to help B. Jones with his confidence?
Gerry Dulac
10:20
I think the best you can say is they are 4-2 and tied for the division lead.

Good morning Gerry.  Recently we've seen a lot of 2nd year players regress.  It happened with Dotson, Claypool, Leal, now it's happening with Jones.  Is there something in the way we coach them that has caused this increase?  It's not just one position either, so is their an organizational flaw is philosophy?
Gerry Dulac
10:20
I think you are making broad assessments

Hi Gerry. Does it amuse you as much as me to read the certainty with which counterfactuals are offered here and elsewhere? As an example: “Wilson can’t run and will get killed behind this line.” This of course ignores the potential for his reading the field more accurately, hitting the hot receiver with frequency to stall the blitz and similar aspects of a mature passing game. Point being that we won’t know until we run the experiment.

Wow, another good one...hear hear!!

While Fields did more than I expected, watching his lack of accuracy and vision warrants this move.  The fumbles don't help his case either.  Stubborn Mike has wanted an athletic QB for years and has chased Fields, Haskins, Dixon, etc..
Gerry Dulac
10:23
That's right. The bar was set really low with Fields. What he has done is play above those low expectations.

Good Morning Gerry.   Is there a better chance we  trade for a WR 2 or hope that Russell Wilson unlocks a WR 2 with a better QB passing attack?
Gerry Dulac
10:23
I think that's what they think they are going to find out

Good Morning Gerry.  A great day to read your chat.  Why all the QB angst I want to see what   Wilson can do. This is a future HOF QB and with the second half of the season, I want know which QB gives us the best chance to win in the playoffs rather than try to win enough games to just get in with Fields and lose in the first round. We need to be able to beat the better teams to succeed.
Gerry Dulac
10:24
IUP, I'm giving you two questions in a row because this makes waaaaay too much sense

Hi,  any chance of seeing Trice or Ryan Watt come back from injury this season.  We need more players for the defensive secondary.
Gerry Dulac
10:25
Trice should be back soon I believe. Not so with Watt

Gerry, did MT promise RW the starting job during his all day interview that culminated with his signing? This would explain why he was named the starter ahead of week one despite rarely practicing or playing all summer. It would also clarify why he has remained at the top of the depth chart despite being inactive for 5 of the 6 games. It is my belief this happened with Mitch in 2022. His signing was followed by a faux "competition" that guaranteed he would "win" the opening day gig. This would also explain why Mason and Pickett high tailed it out of town virtually the day Russ was signed. They knew there was never going to be a true competition.
Gerry Dulac
10:26
Don't be befuddled. They brought Wilson in for a reason -- to be the starter. And nothing was going to change their mind.

Gerry, It's no secret the Steelers passing game is W-E-A-K, obviously with Russ most likely being QB1 this week that seems like a move that will boost it... However I must say you cant put feathers on a pig and call it a flamingo so do they use this game as a review of the need for WR or do they have other plans?
Gerry Dulac
10:27
Yeah, their other plan is to win the game and boost their passing game.

Let's have some fun, thrillseeker! Is the 2025 opening game starting QB on the roster right now?
Gerry Dulac
10:27
Let's not
IUP Dave
10:27
Good morning Gerry.  You get to see more practice that we do so can we be encouraged that Roman Wilson can provide a spark as a receiver or is he just another guy?
Gerry Dulac
10:28
AS for right now, he's just another guy. Doesn't mean he can't be a quality receiver for them at some point

Hi Gerry:  Thanks for the chats.  What is there about Tomlin’s control over the Offense that minimizes plays over the middle of the field-first downs and careers are made on short slants by every winning Offense.  The opposite thing on Defense; constantly allowing over the middle short and intermediate wide open opponent receivers and backs.  Both sides of the ball appear straight jacketed.  Why?
Gerry Dulac
10:29
That's a very good observation that I can't answer
BPOS
10:29
What to make of Broderick Jones?  They obviously will continue to hope he works through his issues but you'd expect better, much better, from a 14th round pick who they had to trade up to get.  He looks overwhelmed out there.
Gerry Dulac
10:30
He does not look like the dominating tackle he wants to be, but I'm not going to fret like other people
IUP Dave
10:30
Gerry. How much freedom with Russel Wilson have to change plays at the LOS?  Having the ability to change out of plays may mask the difference in mobility of the two QBs.
Gerry Dulac
10:30
I'm sure he is very adept at it.

Hi Gerry, love the chats! I think the Steeler QB situation is actually working out quite well.  After 6 games they have a great read in what they have in Fields (and a record of 4-2, still in contention).  Now they get a chance to see what a healthy Wilson has left in the tank... with two home games, followed by an off week they should know which gives them the best option in closing out season and hopefully winning in playoffs. Now they will have a great read on both as we enter the critical stretch, in addition to making a more informed decision looking ahead (do they keep either, neither or one for next season).
Gerry Dulac
10:32
Such reasonable -- and welcomed -- logic.
Elliott Metro
10:32
Gerry, the decision to make Wilson the starter will definitely open up the passing game because of his experience to not only recognize the opposing defense, but more importantly, looking for other receivers that are also open, as opposed to the primary one that Fields has been doing. so fed up for zero touchdowns in the first half of games this year. We were lucky to score toward the end of the half last Sunday.
Gerry Dulac
10:33
Yes it will. And don't you think they don't know that?? There's a reason for all this.
More WR Complaints
10:33
Gerry, why does this team continue to fail to get a WR? Do they plan to actually get one? If they do, why do they even want Mike Williams? The dude scheduled a visit with us and then didn’t even bother to show up. Not only would he be a Jet castoff, he has spurned us already.
Gerry Dulac
10:34
He didn't bother to show up because the dumb Jets foolishly offer him a one-year deal for $15 million before he could even meet for the Steelers. That's why they Jets are the Jets.
