With Christopher Carter's article breaking down how Fields is not 'seeing' open receivers, repeatedly... does that not say more about him locking on to or deciding who is his first option pre-snap?  It seems that is the case and the failures to check down or read the defense is really hobbling this offense.  A great article that clearly lays out what has been one of the knocks on Fields over time.  It seems a more "flexible" QB could be getting a lot more out of this offense.  It seems to me that if Christopher broke down all six games this way, The play calling would likely look a lot better.

You'd have to ask him

Hi Gerry, any news on a playoff win, while the Jets and Bills improve their WR rooms?  Who is the next WR available? Kirk from Jacksonville?
Gerry Dulac
10:35
The Steelers had no control over getting either of the two WRs to whom you are referring

Sorry....typed enter too fast .  Do you think he has learned that this isn't the type of QB that wins championships?  Or is he too stubborn to admit the errors he's made?
Gerry Dulac
10:38
I didn't see the first part of this question but I'm going to guess you are referring to Justin Fields. Mobile QBs are fine if they can make plays consistently in the passing game. If they can't, then they're just runners. Name one who has won a championship??

Good morning Gerry.  The overall philosophy of defense and ball control is flawed.  Winning franchises have great QB play or effective offensive schemes.  Do you think maybe Tomlin wants to push this narrative to prove he can win without Ben?
Gerry Dulac
10:39
He's not trying to push any narratives. All he is doing is trying to find the best way to get back to being a Super Bowl contender. And that starts with the QB

Thanks for the chats. What is your all-time Steelers O-Line? I go Kolb and Tunch at OT, Faneca and Decastro at G and Dermontti at Center.
Gerry Dulac

Ok, but kinda hard to leave off Webster

Any update or opinion about when Cory Tice

So..Dose MT make the change to Russ?….or dose he wait til Fields plays him self out of the position or gets nicked?….
Gerry Dulac
10:40
I think you are getting your answer...

Over the past 18 drafts, we've found a star in the first round only 4 times.  Watt, Cam, DeCastro, and Pouncey.  That's it.  We've had different GMs, different scouts, and different position coaches.  The only constant in those 18 years is Mediocre Mike.  If he shares equal responsibility with the GM, and I would argue he has more power, why is he so bad at drafting?  And why is he still given such power after failing so often?

What...you didn't like Jarvis Jones, Artie Burns, Ziggy Hood or Devin Bush?? But you forgot at least one in your other list ... Ryan Shazier.

If/when Russell Wilson starts, how much impact can he have on helping with protections?  I know it's primarily the center's job but seems like his experience, could help identify where pressure is coming.
Gerry Dulac
10:43
That's right

What do you think of the new Kickoff rule and can you ask MT why they just kick it thru the endzone and not try to pin other teams behind the default 30 yard line?
Gerry Dulac
10:44
It's a joke. You see any added excitement? I don't

Did Fautanu need surgery for his injury?
Gerry Dulac
10:44
Yes

Why does some media say Fields was "benched"? He was the backup and now that the designated starter is healthy, Fields is the backup again... I don't see it as a demotion-
Gerry Dulac
10:44
Because some media people don't understand how it works

Gerry, another swing and a miss on Adams. Do we go for three with Mike Williams or someone like Hopkins if it's a conditional 3? Also any word on Ben skowronek coming back? I miss a receiver who blocks hard for his boys behind him
Gerry Dulac
10:47
Adams was never coming here, And Hopkins isn't on their radar. And, after what I've seen of Williams, keep him in NY.  He's making $15 million for one year. You think he'll agree to take less money from another team?

Gerry, if Russ gets the start, does well and solidifies the QB1, do you think Arthur Smith works in some plays to utilize Fields talents?
Gerry Dulac
10:48
There is no solidifying No. 1. That's done. But, to your question, he should.

Wouldn’t Amari Cooper have been well worth it to the Steelers what the Bills had to give up for him?
Gerry Dulac
10:48
The Browns weren't going to trade him to a division rival

Najee Harris is a pros pro, reliable and has not had a great experienced line or proven play caller until maybe now. Why are the fans so against him? Not picking up his option is a mistake. Please advise
Gerry Dulac
10:48
Doesn't mean they still can't sign him to a new contract
The Dude
10:48
Why has the Steeler offense been so ineffective when using play action?
Gerry Dulac
10:49
I think the answer is being provided with the QB switch
Tom
10:49
Gerry, I hope you/your family are doing well. From your vantage point why hasn’t Muth been a bigger part of the offense. So many teams go to their TE on crucial downs. All but the Steelers for the most part. Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
10:49
I agree. He should be getting twice as many targets as he does.

Finally, a Queen sighting this week, was it just a matter of getting acclimated to the defense?
Gerry Dulac
10:50
Of course.

Best FA signing in off season? Elliott?
Gerry Dulac
10:50
He's a good one. But I think you should know the other two
