Have players privately discussed their displeasure with this offense?
Gerry Dulac
10:31
Oh, I'm going to guess they have.
Bob
10:31
who starts first (not counting jones last week)... Porter or jones?
Gerry Dulac
10:32
That's a good question. If not counting injuries, I say Porter. But injuries, particularly long-term injuries, will probably be their entree into the starting lineup.

It seems like players leave the Steelers and thrive on other teams (Witherspoon, Dotson, Hargrave, Conner, Dobbs, etc.).  This rarely happened in the past.  I feel it has to be our coaching staff.  Do we not use them right?  Do we not know how to develop them?  These would be major problems.  We have had many first round picks and talented players on the team recently and it seems like they play below their talent level.
Gerry Dulac
10:33
I hardly doubt the players you referenced can be referred to as thriving. The only one is Hargrave, but that is going to happen with free agency because you can't re-sign everyone. In fact, history has shown the opposite usually occurs when players leave the Steelers

Gerry, do you know if Brian Flores was offered the DC position before he left for Minnesota ?
Gerry Dulac
10:34
He was not

What's one thing fans could see coming out of the bye that we wouldn't necessarily see coming?
Gerry Dulac
10:34
A TD run? Haven't seen one yet

Do the Steelers have their Defensive staff scout their offense to tell them how they would game plan against it during the bye?
Gerry Dulac
10:34
No

Hi Gerry, I'm really tired to listening to talking points and a narrative in the media or from Mike Tomlin. Like Bill Parcells used to say" you are what your record says you are. Also 5 touchdowns in 5 games does not make a good offense. Our Head Coach doesn't think certain obscure stats mean anything. Is this offense better than the 1976 Steeler offense? That team needed 6 shutouts to win the division.
Gerry Dulac
10:35
This offense is not better than any Steelers offense in recent memory

10:35
Scoring is down this year in the NFL but in watching other teams, offenses seem to be able to make some easy runs and passes to move the ball at least.  We have way too many 3 and outs.  What is the main reason for this?
Gerry Dulac
10:36
There are too many answers to that question to list here. So far, though, the biggest reason is the slow starts and inaccuracies by the QB.
Dave
10:36
Hate to beat this to death, but why did they trade up to draft Jones if they thought Dan Moore was good enough?  A healthy Christian Gonzalez sure would have looked good in this secondary.  Of course, maybe he'd be on the bench learning by watching players get beat in coverage.
Gerry Dulac
10:37
Dave, I'm not going to argue with you. But, I think in due time we might discover the reason.

if Canada isn’t retained for next year, who would you like to see take over as OC in your opinion?
Gerry Dulac
10:38
Oh no, last time I answered that with a flip comment it became national news.

In your opinion, will this Pittsburgh Steelers football team make a turnaround in the second half of the season? Even though we are 3-2, it sure doesn’t feel like it.
Gerry Dulac
10:40
I don't know about a turnaround, but I think they will continue to slog their way through the schedule. They are good enough to beat most teams but not good enough to think they can beat any team.

Is the arrow pointing up for the Steelers or will they sink some more before they hit bottom?
Gerry Dulac
10:40
I think the arrow is still in the pouch right now.

"Coach, fans are frustrated with what they believe is mediocrity for the last 6 years. Players, coaches, schemes have all changed. You're the only constant. Using your own definition, isn't that insanity?"
Gerry Dulac
10:40
I'm looking it up right now....
Ryan Curry
10:41
I know it is still early, but looking back on it now, how do you grade Omar Kahn’s first full offseason?
Gerry Dulac
10:41
You're right, it's too early. But I will pose this question: Are the players they acquired not good enough or are they not being used properly?
Bob
10:42
run left, run, right, back shoulder fade. what kind've offense is that?? i would love to hear the meetings with management!! thx gerry
Gerry Dulac
10:42
One that has scored just five TDs.
Joe B10:42I’m not sure why you think fans shouldn’t be questioning Moore’s play. He’s one of the worst rated left tackles in the NFL per PFF and has given up more pressures and sacks than practically all other AFC left tackles. He stinks.
10:43
Your mistake is listening to PFF.
Mike P.
10:43
Gerry, was Bill Cowher more open in his press conferences? Or did he at least use fewer cliches?
Gerry Dulac
10:43
Yes he was. He didn't paint the barn red
Sal
10:43
Happy Wednesday Gerry! Do you see a more involvement in our rookies after the bye? Is Jones taking the starting role on the LT?
Gerry Dulac
10:43
Maybe. And no
10:44
Ok kids, have to head to the locker room. Thanx for the questions. We were just getting warmed up.
