Good question. Don't know the answer.

Gerry, can you help us (me) understand why the Steelers are so high in Dan Moore? I feel he is the weakest link on the OL. What do they see?
Gerry Dulac
11:44
Apparently more than you Miles. They like Dan Moore. He's a rookie. He's going to make some mistakes. All in all, he's been pretty darn good and will only get better.

About those Steeler inside linebackers, wondering if perhaps in an effort to find guys who could cover, the pendulum might have swung too far and we now have two guys who aren't stout enough to stop the run?
Gerry Dulac
11:44
You can't have everything

Hi Gerry:  Thanks for the chats.  Every week it is apparent 34 cannot cover NFL caliber receivers.  Does that ever improve with experience-he seems to be in good physical shape. It seems much of the zone Defense is to bail him out.   Was the Steeler refusal to pick up his 5th year for that reason?
Gerry Dulac
11:45
He doesn't make enough plays for a No. 1 pick. I think that's the biggest reason. You'd be paying a lot of money in his option year for a player who is not making a difference.

Any chance Tuitt plays vs Cleveland?   Gonna need to stop the run, no matter who their RB might be that game.
Gerry Dulac
11:46
It depends if you mean the Jan. 3 game against the Browns.

It seams like the Steelers play way to much nickel defense and opposing offenses are more than happy to run the ball against it keeping the defense on the field and wearing them down. Why don’t they play more of their base defense and stop the run first?
Gerry Dulac
11:46
Well, that's what happened against Seattle. The Seahawks exploited that, especially in the second half

I was all on board with the Joe Shobert trade, thought it would greatly improve the D. What happened to him? Problems adjusting to a new defense or just lost a step or two?
Gerry Dulac
11:48
His reputation as a pass coverage guy was overblown. I thought it was a nice addition, but I didn't think it was a great addition. But it improved the depth inside and that's what they needed.

What should we make of the Steelers relationship with James Washington? The coaches always seem to go out of their way saying how much they value him, yet when finally given the opportunity to play him regularly, they don't.
Gerry Dulac
11:49
I would agree. What happened Sunday was very puzzling.

Hello Gerry! Southern Utah reporting in here. Are there any options, either in a trade or in next year’s free agency, of a better QB than what there is with Mason or Dwayne? Can either of those two men really ever take the helm?
Gerry Dulac
11:50
Hey there....yes they can. They can win 10 games with Mason Rudolph. Still not sure about Haskins being a long-term solution, but I will tell you this -- he will be given EVERY opportunity in 2022 to be the No. 1 QB. There will be no trade or free agency moves.

I’d like to see Muth used as one of our top 3 targets, similar to how Dallas used Witten. The guy catches everything, so what’s the hold up?
Gerry Dulac
11:51
If you watched Sunday night's game, I think you saw there is no hold up.

Gerry, when I look at the Steelers starting roster, and evaluate the back ups, it seems clear that they are on a thin edge where one or two injuries to starters could tank the entire season.  Take Cam Heyward, for example.  He's 32 and a significant injury at this point could be a disaster.  What say you?
Gerry Dulac
11:52
Of course it would because they are already without the other two starters on the line.

Hello Gerry! Thanks for all of your chats. The most of the time Tomlin's teams peak at the right time, so I am thrilled to see more evolution of this team as the season go. Do you think Big Ben also will peak by the end of season when it matter or shall we see the same perfomance we have seen from him until now?
Gerry Dulac
11:52
Well, that's what we're going to find out. Aside from Tom Brady, 39 year old QBs don't always peak at the end of the season.
Rocky B
11:53
Devin Bush has been disappointing. He has the speed but not the diagnostic skills or tackling ability of Shazier. Do you think the groin is still affecting him, or is he headed towards a non exercised 5th yr option?
Gerry Dulac
11:53
I think it's more that he had ACL surgery less than a year ago
SMF
11:53
Hi Gerry:  Before the Steelers burn out Nagee, why do they run him between the tackles into an 8 man front 12 times a game with no blocking holes.  Isn’t that what play action is for? I thought Canada was some offensive Guru?
Gerry Dulac
11:53
I'll tell him
Rocky B
11:53
Steelers will supposedly have a lot more cap space in the off-season than usual.  What do you think the odds are that we will sign a premier QB (such as Rodgers)?
Gerry Dulac
11:54
About as much as me getting a tryout.
Joe
11:54
Since this upcoming draft is supposed to be weak for qb’s, is there any chance the Steelers trade for a starter or at least a guy to play for 2-3 years until they draft one?
Gerry Dulac
11:54
Are you sensing a tone at all here?? Uh....no.
Rocky B
11:54
Tirico said during the broadcast that Juju is out for the “regular season”.  Does that imply that he could return if we happen to make the postseason?
Gerry Dulac
11:54
He is out for the season. Period
Rocky B
11:54
Why the team secrecy regarding Tuitt?  Just give us a realistic time frame so everyone knows what to expect. Agree ?
Gerry Dulac
11:55
There is none. They are not sure

11:55
What changes are you expecting to see on the other side of the bye? Banner back in the starting line-up? Anthonies Miller & McFarland worked into the offense? Tuitt or Carlos Davis? I just hope everyone is resting their groins and getting healthy.
Gerry Dulac
11:55
They just won two in a row. It's not time to change. It's time to build on that
Jerry G
11:55
a common complaint about the offense is they do not throw intermediate passes over the middle of the field . Slants and posts! It appears the overwhelming majority of passes are to the sidelines and either behind the line of scrimmage to about 5 yards! Do you agree? If so, can someone ask Tomlin, Canada, or Ben why?
Gerry Dulac
11:55
I'll ask them
KW
11:55
Will Tomlin be fined--even though he is correct?
