Hi Gerry, I hope without Bush we cab still stop the Ravens. Do we pick up a potential stop gap guy ? Spillane looked good but he doesn't have Bush's speed. thanks
Gerry Dulac
10:13
No stop-gap guy coming, at least not now. Yes, Bush will be really missed against the Ravens because he's the type of guy who can spy on Lamar Jackson, much like he did with DeShaun Watson.

Hi Gerry -  Who from the PG will be going to the game besides you and will Ray or Brian be doing a live chat during the game?  Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
10:14
One of them will be doing the live chat during the game. Ray and I will not be at the game because of the governor's list of quarantined states.

Hi Gerry, given the likely snap sharing at the ILB position, who logically gets the green dot and communicating the defense?
Gerry Dulac
10:15
Logically it will be 98. Watt has handled it before but that was when Williams wasn't playing as much.

As a follow up question, compared to the Smith/Hampton/Keisel  3 front, is the current 'base front' designed to penetrate/disrput  or gap control/keep the LB's clean?  Thanks so much for the chats.
Gerry Dulac
10:17
It's a blend of both. Basically, the Steelers are more one-gap up front, using Heyward and Tuitt's size and athleticism to shoot gaps and get in the backfield. They were mostly a two-gap team with Smith-Hampton-Keisel that allowed the LBs to make more plays.

A key reason for not being a big James Conner fan has been his straight-ahead running style, seldom seeming to look for holes to the left or right. But Sunday he looked to my eyes like a different runner - jukes, twists, spins - much harder to tackle. Did you notice it as well?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
I did as well, yes.

What is holding Allen back from seeing ANY action on defense? There was talk earlier this fall that the coaches were liking his progress. Gracias.
Gerry Dulac
10:18
He's been bothered by plantar fasciitis the past three weeks. But he dressed on Sunday and he could start to see more time in sub packages with Bush out. That's what they will attempt to see going forward.

What do you think of the play of Tyson Alualu ?
Gerry Dulac
10:19
He's been more than solid. To me, the perfect nose tackle. Strong, plays with leverage, doesn't give ground.

Is Ben playing mind games when he talks about not being comfortable with the long ball? Or has he really lost something off his fastball?
Gerry Dulac
10:19
He has lost nothing.

Was Really Nice To See Ben Run the Quarterback Sneak On 4th And 1 Will We See More Of IT Seems Forever Since We Had Seen It
Gerry Dulac
10:20
I agree. Give the defense something to think about next time, if nothing else.

Wouldn't Jarrad Davis make sense as a rental at ILB?  Speedy first-round talent, but not playing much for Lions.  FA after this year, so no long term commitment.
Gerry Dulac
10:21
Sounds good, right? But doesn't mean he's available, or at the right price.

Fans want to bring in a 'proven vet', but Spillane didn't walk in the door yesterday. At least he's been here two years and knows the system. I'm gonna trust the coaches that this guy can play a little, I think they know what they're doing. And I would think Spillane has a pretty good teacher/example in Jerry Olsavsky.
Gerry Dulac
10:23
That part about "I think they know what they're doing" makes the most sense!

Good morning. I’m not much into conspiracy theories or trade speculation but do you have any intel on the Avery Williams speculation? Because of his experience in the Titans D, which still has remnants of the Dick LeBeau system, this is one of the few that actually make sense to me if they didn’t have to give up more than a 5 or 6 rounder.
Gerry Dulac
10:26
I agree it would make sense, particularly for a late pick. And it wouldn't shock me if they did. But they have until Nov. 3 to decide if that is the case, which means they have two games to make a judgement on Spillane.

I was surprised that with the game in hand, 8 minutes left in the 4th, that the Steelers still had Heyward and Tuitt on the field. I know Tomlin's mantra is not live in your fears but how about living practically? It's a violent game to be sure and I think that pulling your irreplaceable stars when the game is won is smart and certainly not living in your fears. What say you?
Gerry Dulac
10:27
He got them out of there shortly thereafter. Plus, I think Wormley needs to play a little more.

is there any way we can keep Bud next year, would be a shame to break up those two OLB we have !
Gerry Dulac
10:28
I agree, but with a reduced salary cap in 2021, I doubt it. They cannot re-sign both and I highly doubt they will have the room after signing Watt and JuJu or Conner to franchise Dupree again.

Did Boz just suffer from a year of the yipps a couple of years ago, or was there some physical issues?
Gerry Dulac
10:29
Mental yips which can lead to physical miscalculations

Hi Gerry, I thought I'd heard Spillane was pretty speedy for an ILB (obviously not up to Bush level). Is that not the case? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
10:29
He's not slow

Gerry,      With the outstanding group of receivers, do you foresee a trade with one for a top tier inside linebacker?
Gerry Dulac
10:29
Nope.

Morning Gerry. Any info on Pouncy's injury?
Gerry Dulac
10:30
He was not listed on Tomlin's verbal injury report yesterday

Hi Gerry -   Does it seem like there are hard feeling between Vrabel and the Steelers org?
Gerry Dulac
10:30
Not that I'm aware.

Hello Gerry hope you are fine! Seems like Shaun Sarret is doing an extraordinary job with new lineup this year and with all injuries that the line has suffered along this 5 games. What do you think?
Gerry Dulac
10:31
So far, so good. Especially with the new right tackles
