Gerry, is this team a wide receiver trade away from making a deep playoff run? Is it worth the draft assets?
Gerry Dulac
10:21
They can definitely use another, but I'm still not going to predict a deep playoff run. We'll see. But I am comfortable with my preseason prediction of 11-6, and with a little luck, 12-5

Hey Gerry appreciate the time. I was curious on your thoughts about how you feel a player like Cooper Kupp would fit in this offense
Gerry Dulac
10:22
Well I think he would fit tremendously

Hi Gerry: Thanks for the chats. Two quick question - any news on Roman Wilson? And what are your thoughts on beefing up the O line as opposed to looking for a WR prior to trade deadline? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
10:23
I think they've beefed up the O-line enough. I'll take the WR possibility. And no news on Roman Wilson, and proabbly won't be. He is not ready to play and contribute guys
Mike
10:23
Are the Steelers waiting for a bargain basement wide receiver pick up like they got at quarterback or might they get Cooper Kupp?
Gerry Dulac
10:23
It depends what the other team is asking

Gerry, I know the focus is on acquiring a WR2 but I think the bigger need is a quality backup to Benton. The back 7 are looking really good but they need the front 4 to keep playing like they are now. Benton is really good but he will need backup support that currently isn't there. Agree?
Gerry Dulac
10:24
That will come in the draft. It should have come this year. And the year before. And not in the second round. A bonafide, big time No. 1 pick

It seems like every time the Steelers talk about how good they are they lose the following week.  Should I pick the Giants this week in my football pool?
Gerry Dulac
10:25
Mike, I hate to tell you, the Steelers don't talk about how good they are. The fans and media do that
Alex Rutkowski
10:26
are the Steelers in line to get a comp pick this year? I know they are losing either a 4 or a 6 for fields, other than that do they have all of their other picks? Just curious to see what we have in the cupboard for a possible WR trade.
Gerry Dulac
10:27
Don't forget about the other guys they acquired in FA -- Queen, Elliott, Jefferson. It is unlikely they will get much, if any, because they didn't lose anyone of significance. And Fields was a trade.
Eric Carr
10:27
Gerry what does your crystal ball tell you about the trade deadline? Will we acquire a WR? Could it realistically be Kupp? Or just someone like Williams?
Gerry Dulac
10:27
Someone like Williams, who is of no use to the Jets now, would be more realistic.

Good morning Gerry.  Why the lack of passing attempts to Washington in the red zone?  We finally have a QB that has touch, why not at 10.5 + foot pass to the 6.7 foot large receiver anywhere in the endzone?
Gerry Dulac
10:28
Let's give him time

Morning, Gerry!  With all these WR’s going down lately with big injuries, is it wise for the Steeler to trade draft capitol and/or take on high salaries and risk them getting injured too? Or just see what we have with Jefferson, Austin and hopefully Roman Wilson in the next half?
Gerry Dulac
10:29
They can't control injuries. That's always a part of the equation and can't enter in to their thinking
Texan Steeler
10:29
Hi Gerry, why would you trade for Cooper "Glassbody" Kupp for a 2nd~3rd round pick? Wilson distributed the ball last week as even Van Jefferson caught a TD last week. I haven't given up on Roman Wilson whom I think can get some playing time after bye.
Gerry Dulac
10:30
That's exactly what the Steelers want to find out from their WR corps, now that Wilson is the starter
Fort Wayne Nate
10:30
There was one Najee run later in the game where he was stopped but the pile kept moving and it was blown dead AFTER he crossed the 1st down marker but then they marked him short and Tomlin challenged and lost. Why wasn’t it spotted where the whistle was blown?
Gerry Dulac
10:30
I wondered the same thing
SteelGotIt
10:30
Is there any chance the Steelers break protocol and sign Najee to an extension during this season?
Gerry Dulac
10:30
No, not during the season
Eric Carr
10:30
Gerry can you believe LC was passed over yet again?? I can't!! Do you think Marshall and Martin are as worthy? Getting sick of the anti Steeler bias!!!!
Gerry Dulac
10:32
I'm with ya, Eric. And before anyone asks, I have nothing to do with the senior selection committee. The only time I'm involved is when the regular selection committee is presented the final 9 senior candidates for vote
Mike P.
10:32
Gerry, is there anything you think the defensive coordinator can do to free TJ up from constant chips and double teams? Or does everyone else on the line have to just take advantage of single defenders due to all the attention poured on TJ?
Gerry Dulac
10:32
The only thing they can do is move him around a little more
Black N Gold
10:32
Gerry, during one of the recent chats you agreed to issue a Word Salad Warning on any srticle that contains more than one MT quote. Did you forget about that? This morning's article had 3-4. The warning should be a component of the collective and things of that nature. Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
10:34
I've only agreed to two things in my life, and neither are that

If Russ plays well the rest of the season and leads us into a deep playoff run, what do we do at the QB position next year? With all of the money going to defense, will we be able to pay Russ what he would want to stay?
Gerry Dulac
10:34
I will say it again -- I have been told Russ and the Steelers each intend to do a deal after the season. We'll see how that plays out
JP
10:35
Hi Gerry.  Assuming Steelers are 6-2 at the bye is that enough of a sample to resign any of the qbs after this season? which one(s)?
Gerry Dulac
10:35
They will make that decision after the season, But see above answer
Justin
10:35
If Russ plays well the rest of the season, is there a future for Fields on this team, or is he gone next year?
Gerry Dulac
10:36
I think Fields might have played himself into a job with another team in 2025 with the way he played the first six games.
Sal
10:36
Happy Wednesday Gerry! So far what do you think of new qbs coach ? Seems like the qb room is one of this teams strengths to me
Gerry Dulac
10:36
I think he's a nice guy. I don't evaluate asst coaches. Too hard.
