Good Morning Sir.
Re: Burfict
$112K sounds like a lot but when you consider it is pre-tax AND you can write it off on your taxes… Doesn’t sound like such a big deterrent to me… You?

It doesn't appear that fines or suspensions get through to this guy. He's a bad egg

It’s not like the Steelers 1st round draft choices are guaranteed gold, why not trade for Peterson and go for the Lombardi while we can?
Gerry Dulac
11:00
First of all, the Cardinals have said they are not trading Peterson. Second, I'm sure the asking price is a No. 1 pick, and the Steelers don't trade away future No. 1 picks. I agree he would be a great addition, but he doesn't come cheap.

After six games where do you see the most need for improvement
Gerry Dulac
11:03
Based on the past two games, really nowhere. I think the secondary has been better than what it appears, though, admittedly, the rotation with Artie Burns is not ideal. Getting a healthy Morgan Burnett back will help.

What is the feeling with Dobbs as the backup QB from the coaches as far as being a potential starter when Ben retires? I know he was a raw but high upside project when drafted last year.
Gerry Dulac
11:09
I don't think they view him that way. They drafted Mason Rudolph to be the eventual replacement, even though he is behind Dobbs on the depth chart.

Hi Gerry – The Steeler Way is to not trade draft picks; in hindsight do you think that they would of traded the following number 1 picks for a Patrick Peterson/type player: Rashard Mendenhall, Ziggy Hood, Jarvis Jones, Bud Dupree or Artie Burns?
Gerry Dulac
11:12
Of course they would have, probably a lot of other players as well, in hindsight. Also, they trade draft picks, and they have swapped places for a No. 1 choice. They just don't give away future No. 1 picks for a player. You may not agree, but it's hard to argue with their approach, oh, since the 1970s merger.

A certain sports media outlet that I won't mention, but whose name consists of four letters, has claimed multiple times that Bell WILL be reporting to the Steelers on (insert date here).  Every time they have been wrong. Do they just make this stuff up? Anytime I want reliable information on the Steelers, I go to the Post Gazette.
Gerry Dulac
11:16
That's where you should go, but, in defense of that certain media outlet, they were only reporting what Bell himself told them. Every other media person is town would have done the same thing if they heard it from Bell. The problem here is not with the media, it's with Bell, who tells his teammates (and the media) one thing and does other. I think they call that false, misleading information, which is why nobody, not even the Steelers, really know what to expect from him. And that is one of the main reason the Steelers did not, AND NEVER WILL, give him the money he claims he deserves.

I noticed in the last game, the tackling was so much better. It was night and day from that game to all the others. Any idea what happened that there was such a drastic improvement from one week to the next?
Gerry Dulac
11:17
Not really. It's not like they work on tackling drills during the reason.

Artie Burns is a great example of reaching for need after missing out on the more desired player. Do you really buy the explanation that they had Burns rated right with Jackson?
Gerry Dulac
11:18
They had him in the same church, but maybe not in the same pew. They desired Jackson, but understood that if he wasn't available they would take Burns. So they had them about equal.

After this season, do you think the Steelers will even make an offer to Bell, or just wish him well in his future endeavors?
Gerry Dulac
11:19
You have a better chance of hitting the Mega Millions.

Gerry, Seeing that Paul Allen passed, it got me thinking about where AR II's ownership interest would transfer to if something happened to him?  Is there another Rooney in line?
Gerry Dulac
11:20
Yes, his wife and kids, particularly his son, Dan, who has already been actively involved in league and team operations.

Gerry,  Saw reports Steelers were kicking the tires on CB's from Oakland and Giants.  Where there is smoke....Seems like they are interested in upgrading CB position. Your take?  Thank you.
Gerry Dulac
11:21
Didn't see them and don't pay mind to them. Who "reporting??"

Just for fun - give the Cardinals Lev Bell and a non first round pick. We then get rid of one problem and potentially fix another.
Gerry Dulac
11:22
All in favor, say 'Aye.'

11:22
I wish the Steelers would make an exception in this case.  Peterson would help for the last few years of Bens career.  What about a second and Burns?  He is a low cost project for them and we need help now.
Gerry Dulac
11:22
Another good option.

What's your take on Mike Mitchell signing with the Colts and having a great game. It feels like he had more tackles and interceptions in one game with the Colts than his entire last season with the Steelers. Is it the Scheme in Indy that is allwing him to play better, or just a more motivated player?
Gerry Dulac
11:23
Maybe a little of both. Fresh legs. Lot of pent-up energy. Give it some time.

Regarding Burnett's groin injury: how much of groin injuries are the fault of the individual? Is it improper conditioning or is it just "sometimes it happens"?
Gerry Dulac
11:23
A little of both, but ultimately it's the individual, especially as you get older and have been in the league for a while.

Is Maurkice Poncey a hall of famer?
Gerry Dulac
11:24
No. Terrific player tho.
Me
11:24
Yeah, the Cardinals said no trade but so did the Steelers with Bryant.  If the price is right, they will trade a guy who wants out.
Gerry Dulac
11:24
Good point. Bryant, though, is and was a roster liability with his issues.

i would really like to c rosie nix more involved in the offense especially as a blocking back in the run game. your thoughts
Gerry Dulac
11:25
Only as a blocking back, not a receiver, which I see from time to time...and cringe.

A few of your colleagues say they would give up a 1st rounder for Peterson. Would you? (Of course, I know it will never happen, but…it’s fun to speculate with you guys who are around the team all the time).
Gerry Dulac
11:26
I would take Patrick Peterson on my team. I think the way to sweeten the pot, or at least make it more appealing for Peterson, is to offer him a membership to Oakmont CC. He loves to play golf and loves Oakmont. It would be a deal-clincher, trust me

Speaking of bad corner play, do guys like Haden, who are actually good at what they do, reach out and offer advice and help to guys like Burns who can’t seem to figure it out? We often hear of veteran players saying things like ‘it’s not my job to groom these young guys,’ but do the Steeler vets take it upon themselves to make sure the young guys know how to do their jobs?
