Why did the Steelers struggle in the red zone in Paris?
Gerry Dulac
11:18
They've kind of been stalling the past couple games, which is why Boswell has kicked nine FGs the past three games. He hasn't had to do that in two years

Gerry, Steelers management takes plenty of criticism for its draft picks, but isn’t the Iheanachor–Bernard combination looking pretty favorable so far? Bernard (2nd round) is holding his own against Lemon (1st round) statistically and actually leads him in catches and receiving yards, while Iheanachor is gaining valuable experience as a starting tackle. Despite some rookie growing pains, could missing out on Lemon ultimately work in Pittsburgh’s favor? Curious how you assess those two picks together.

I agree you 100 percent, and have thought that from the very beginning. If Bernard could be productive as a rookie, which he has, it makes the pick of Iheanachor look even better.

One often reads that, when a player is available or a team is beginning a 'fire sale, the Steelers are said to be interested. Is that the national media speculating with no indications from the Steelers? Half the time, I read the article an shake my head. They have no idea most of the time.
Gerry Dulac

That's both a fan's whimsical wish list and the national media's misinformed need to speculate

Hi Gerry - The Seahawks just made a splash trade to bolster their OL. Makes sense for a team that is a bonafide super bowl contender. GM Gerry, over the next two weeks, would you consider giving up future draft pick(s) to fill any gaps to make a run to solidify playoffs and playoff win(s). If yes, what gap(s) might you identify and how high a draft(s) picks willing to give up.  Yes, this is theoretical, but also directional in regards to weighing needs and cost. Your opinion is genuinely appreciated.

It sounds good, and maybe they will make a move. But, more than likely, it would only be because of a significant injury. Name me the last time the Steelers made a major move like that this far into the season?

The offensive and defensive lines seem improved and on an upward trend.  At the same time, injuries among the WR corps have slowed the offense and HCMM is using more 12 personnel and an extra O-lineman similar to last year’s scheme.  Can the offense get into a rhythm with the latent they have available? Or do they need to add talent on the outside maximize scoring?
Gerry Dulac
11:23
They are not adding talent on the outside.

Hi Gerry, WR seems like the most likely position to target at the trade deadline. How aggressive will the Steelers be to get one. I would prefer they target a speedy receiver that can stretch the field vs a slower, "possession receiver". What have you heard they may be looking for?

While I believe our OLine has become a strength, do you feel that Fautanu and Max will remain in their current spots beyond this season? Some have suggested Troy may have all pro potential as a guard and Max has LT ability.  Just curious of your positional opinion.
Gerry Dulac
11:24
I'm not qualified to evaluate their abilities, but the Steelers have always though Fautanu could play, even though they haven't tried it or wanted to try it. And Max looks like he can play any tackle position.

Of the Steeler players on expiring contracts, which, if any, do you see as key to resigning for the continued improvement of the team?
Gerry Dulac
11:27
They took care of 4 of the 5 they wanted to extend. The exception was Porter, and that was on him, not the Steelers. He walked away from a $23 million difference for 2026. He will never get that back. They did not target Patrick Queen for an extension and his contract is up after the season. It will be curious to see if they will try to re-sign him. His play suggests they should.

Gerry, can you share your thoughts on the Steelers for the remainder of this season. My concern is that this team will remain average and maybe make the playoffs and then be another one and done.
Gerry Dulac
11:28
Remain average? They are 5-2 and tied for the division lead. But, as for your concern, I can't assuage that until they win a playoff game

More of a comment:  As frustrated as I get about our inconsistencies, I saw a stat the other day that reminded me how spoiled we are as fans.  Every team in the NFL has had a top five pick this century, except one.  The Steelers last top 5 pick was Terry Bradshaw in 1970!  30 years prior to any other team (Ravens in 2000 with Jamal Lewis).

My name's Will, some folks call me Bill, and I live in Louisiana, so technically, I could be a Bill in LA. One major difference, I think Pickett should have been a 5th rd draft pick at best.

Maybe a 3rd but I get your point. He was the best of an average QB class

Gerry am I wrong? I think the Steelers have as good as chance to win the SB as any other team. I look at other teams rosters and see that we can match up with any of them.

Maybe just a pinch misguided (for now)

I think Omar has been a little above average in his player evaluations with some big misses on Rd 1 and free agent selections. Is his seat getting warmer or is his job safe for the foreseeable future?
Gerry Dulac
11:30
His seat is perfectly fine

Hey Gerry - If I’m buying into the Rooney approach of win a playoff game this year or bust, you have to upgrade the secondary in the trade deadline right? As good as Rodgers, Warren and the Dline are playing, there is just no way a top 10 QB, who they are sure to face in the playoffs, doesn’t play pitch and catch in the playoffs against the current group. Thanks -
Gerry Dulac
11:31
I don't think that's happening unless there is a significant injury. Wait....have I said that before??

Enjoy watching Rodgers dominate the chess board every Sunday. Throws it at a high level. I feel he is still at the top of the league as far as QB goes. Going into the second half of the season, how many QBs in The NFL would you feel better about leading your team?
Gerry Dulac
11:33
I think you are being a bit over-zealous, but I will say he is in complete control out there. Totally focused without panic. And he can still throw it as well as, if not better, than anyone in the league.

I’m not saying one is better than the other, but McCarthey seems to be very thoughtful in everything he does where Tomlin let his “gut” lead the way. Is that accurate?
Gerry Dulac

I think that is very perceptive JBD

Hi Gerry. Jalen Ramsey has been a liability in pass coverage since before he came to Pittsburgh. He's a very good player near the line of scrimmage and he's basically become a hybrid linebacker. I'm sure teams are getting into certain pass plays when they see him in deep coverage. Do you think the Steelers have other options?
Gerry Dulac
11:34
I'm not sure I agree with the part about a liability
Jim Bow Dean
11:34
Should they consider switching Max and Troy this off season? Troy is struggling, and while I know Troy has never played LT, he certainly has the build and athleticism to do it.
Gerry Dulac
11:35
I don't know if they want to start flipping Fautanu again, but he has not been at good at LT like he was at RT. He admits it has been an adjustment and it shows

Good morning, Gerry.  Is Omar a serious buyer in your opinion?  Pittman's status for the rest of the season seems up in the air, at best. Wilson barely has a resume 2 1/2 years in. Josh Downs makes sense stylistically (Ray has floated this, also) and I'd be all for the move. But he's on an expiring deal and the team already has $ tied up at the position. Plus, there's the whole "getting on the same page as Aaron" hurdle that would have to be cleared all while jumping on a moving train , as someone used to say. What say you to this move, or a similar one?
Gerry Dulac
11:37
I say you got a lot of ifs and hypotheticals in there
