Hey, Gerry ... I see ESPN is doing a documentary on Kordell Stewart. Your take? Seems like he was badly mismanaged by the team, and the fans showed their uglier side to him. I feel like he was a player so far ahead of his time ...
Gerry Dulac
11:52
He was way ahead of his time. He would be a top 3 pick, maybe even No. 1 overall, if he were coming out today
No tank
11:52
What is it about tanking that its proponents don't understand?  That players and coaches don't lose on purpose?  That teams that trade away their best players and lose double digit games are bad franchises and still lose despite having high draft picks?  I don't understand fans who want their team to lose.
Gerry Dulac
11:53
It's because they don't understand the first thing about a professional athlete or coach or franchise.
Worried

we barely beat three 2-5 crappy teams. i still feel this team is awful and a reckoning is coming.  This to me feels like a wasted year yet again and we will pick in the 20s and still hosed

Morning Gerry. Thanks for another fantastic chat. I hope you tried some fine French cuisine on your trip last week! As for the game on Sunday, Captain Cam seems to have taken offense to some comments from Jared Verse regarding Steelers 'dirty plays' in the last game. Do you think we will see tensions higher than normal between the Steelers and Browns?
Gerry Dulac
11:54
It's a division game against the team you're tied with at the top of the division. It will be chippy

I know injuries does not make an acquisition a 'bust,' but it sure feels like that applies to Pittman. When is he expected to be back on the field?
Gerry Dulac
11:54
It's unfortunate, not a bust

Where are ILB's?  Opposing QB's are having a field day with these 5-8 yard complete passes.  What changes can we make to get a hat on these guys?
Gerry Dulac
11:55
I guess you didn't watch the Paris game. If you did, you wouldn't make such a ridiculous comment

The two Cleveland rookie WRs are doing pretty well and fans shouldn't think they are an instant 'win' this weekend. Both were linked to the Steelers prior to the draft. Any regrets on their part?
Gerry Dulac
11:55
Nope
Rocky,

Does The NFL allow teams to use any technology they want to manage time, or strategies during the game. We have groused about time management for years. I’d think just like tables used for going for 2 points, a program could be written to manage the time and play calling based on the score. Carnegie Mellon probably has a genius or two who could help.

CMU probably has something for everything

How much AI is used now in the publication of a professional newspaper?  I live in Louisville Ky and the Post Gazette is still way better than our paper.  I think ours is full of AI fluff.
Gerry Dulac

It's not used here. Even Ray Fittipaldo is the real deal

Good Morning Gerry... Hope you were able to enjoy your trip!  I always watch all the Steelers Pressers.. I feel like MM (im a big fan)..is emphasizing player rest and recover far more than MT.  I'd like to believe that come playoff time, that along rotating backs and D line will pay dividends.. your thoughts? We will find out, but I agree. He knows what he's doing

Do you have any sense that AR's decision to retire may not be ironclad as he seems to have turned back the clock a bit?
Gerry Dulac

There is no turning back

Hi Gerry- there is no doubt Rodgers isn’t the same QB as past. Nor should he be… but, his accuracy downfield is a real problem. Yes, he finally connected with DK last week, but that was a one off, not something that happens often enough. Not with what we are paying DK. Steeleers need to figure out how to throw passes more than 5 yards on a consistent basis.

We don't see a lot of them. Just like I didn't see a question in that observation.
11:59
OK kids, that's all we have for today. Not sure about a bye week chat next week. Stay tuned. As Myron Cope used to say, bye now!
