why were there so many mismatches on sunday night.I saw Williams on crabtree several times.  The D seemed confused in the ravens personnel.  Just wait til the falcons put coleman, ridley , freeman and JJ.  it going to be ugly.  what are your thoughts?

They looked confused because they were. The Ravens out-schemed them, were more creative, no question. Used a lot of misdirection, different personnel groupings, even lined the TE at guard and threw him a pass. The Steelers were caught off guard and unprepared.

If Bell returns and does well, any chance the Steelers could take the money they saved from not paying him this year and add it to his guaranteed money this years contract offer to get him to sign next year?  Sounds like he wants to be a Steelers..

I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere. Why did Tomlin not call his last timeout at the end of the 1st half on the 4th and 1 that the Ravens had in their own territory? Pitt was on fire. Plenty of time to get at least a fg.

There were 17 seconds remaining and they were at their own 45 and there WAS a timeout called. Do you really call that plenty of time, after at least 4 or 5 seconds for a punt, to go at least 54 yards for a FG?

Why no pressure from the d line?  Looks like neither John Mitchell or the new D line coach made a difference in Tuitt and others thus far.

They are using  a different rotation with the new D-line coach, Karl Dunbar, and it's not really working right now, is it?

Haha. And did you see that block he threw where jhe knocked out 3 Ravens at once. He was penalized on that play for a crack-back block and shouldn't have been. Perfectly legal block

That depends on Bell. Look, the Steelers have two choices -- they can elect to play Bell because they are paying $853K a week, which is a lot of money to pay a backup; or they can get rid of him because they don't want to pay someone they are not using $853k a week.

Critics of Tomlin talk about how the defense is underdeveloped, undisciplined, and poorly coached.  Accepting that there’s some truth there, what can Tomlin realistically do to get these guys to play better, especially if the talent just isn’t there? Football schemes are complicated, sure, but these guys are pros.

Talent certainly helps, but not if they don't know their assignments or fail to execute the ones they do know. I don't believe the issue is lack of talent, except at linebacker. That is the most average group of LBs I can ever remember in a Steelers defense. To me, their problems begin there. The 3-4 defense is predicated, above everything else, on having good LBs, especially on the outside. You can figure it out from there.
